Hi Bob,

So many places to visit in that area and it depends on your likes and dislikes. Here are just a few that we really enjoyed. Kartchner Caverns State Park,-- Saguaro National Park,-- Bisbee Az and stay at Queen Mine RV Park, -- Lost Dutchman State Park.

We will be staying at the LDSP the first few days of April where we will be having the trailer bearings  serviced at one of the locale RV dealers on our way to California.

Have a great trip.

Sedona is a great place, we stayed at the Rancho Sedona RV Park last year where they hold a Casita Rally each year and it was expensive but a good safe place to leave the trailer and take off from. There's lots of camping spots in the Sedona area and many are first come first serve. I would plan on spending a month or more in the area and if you have a quality 4wd then there's some great trails that you will want to explore. I've been to lots of places in Az but Sedona has the wow factor. Be sure to stop in at the Forest Service head quarters and have them tell you all of the places that you can go see. There's way to much to list... and it's only an hour North or 35 miles on the back road to Flagstaff and then the Grand Canyon :)

edit - We've been to the places Hap listed and stayed at the Lost Dutchman also but Sedona for us is #1. If you take off and go left out of the RV park, it takes you to the 4wd trail that all of the tourists pay to go on. You just need low range for a couple spots because of some miner boulder hopping on a hill for maybe 50 yards but that road gets you some great alone time :)

Go see this just west of Sedona - http://www.dreamsedona.com/montezuma-castle.html

Then here's a pic that shows the town of Sedona and some of the surrounding area.

Reed & Karen

Nancy and I stayed at the Rancho Sedona RV Park for several days last year and I agree that Sedona is a place not to be missed. I also agree that Montezuma Castle is an absolute must-see while in the area. I'm still amazed at how they were able to build such an amazing structure.

Another great day trip out of Sedona is  Jerome, Arizona and old mining town. I would not recommend trying to pull the Oliver to Jerome because of the elevation and winding roads but I do recommend visiting if you have the time.

There are so many places of amazement in Southern Arizona that I'm sure that Bob will have a wonderful trip.

Hi Hap :) Yes, we love that area as well and are planning to go back. Also, if you need work done on your trailer, Little House Customs on Arizona is about 45 minutes away from Sedona also. Konrad worked on our trailer while we were there and he installed one of his custom shelves in our Casita. He may have the awnings and who knows what, you need to call at least a month ahead. We're heading to LHC in Texas on the way home for awnings and some other misc mods for our new Olli. Larry's going to take measurements and check out the Oliver and then see what other mods he can come up with for everyone. Here's what we're picking up or having done -  awnings, fridge hinge and button cover, screen door bar, another surge protector, 4 or 5 overhead cabinet shelves, and some vertical shelves, spice racks, etc on that stuff for Karen. Then maybe if it works - the fold down counter, blue step covers, maybe a hepvo under the sink, maybe a battery cut off if it will work on our 4 battery system, 12vdc digital voltmeter, connector storage bracket, maybe the breakaway tether... basically whatever they have time for and for him to see it and get set up for doing Ollie Mods as well is one of our main reasons for going. Larry is booked out 3 months in advance but we got lucky and filled in a cancelation spot. Konrad is booked out also but worth a call. He can pack bearings and everything also :)

We stayed at Dead Horse State Park for the Verdy Valley Birding Festival, 2 years ago in April. Nice park and went on a neat kayak float on the Verdy River.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Funny, that for as long as I've lived out here, I haven't yet explored Arizona as thoroughly as I've wanted to. Surely that's going to change.

You've certainly given us some ideas of where to begin. Kind of like letting loose of the Krakin.

Best to all,

Bob
