  1. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 The generator basket and the quick connect kit can add so much capability and absolutely enhance your outdoors experience. The generator basket is sized to fit nearly any choice that you make about manufacturer and wattage. Here is a look at the light weight aluminum basket installed on the Legacy II tongue. Our personal favorite is the extremely quiet Yamaha 3000efi generator with the wireless remote start/stop key fob. The efi3000 holds nearly three gallons of fuel, so carrying a extra gas can for many trips isn't necessary. The basket design accepts various locking and weather cover methods. Many generator choices will let the pickup truck's tail gate be down for carrying a four wheeler or other outdoors toy. The generator quick connect kit consists of the power cord and the automatic buss transfer switch which eliminates the possibility of power conflict with shore power. The connecting port is the same marine type covered port as the main trailer connecting cord for shore power. Here is a look at the set up from another angle. Here is a closer look at the cord connector port with the cap closed. Now, that sounds cool, but when you really know just exactly how cool it really is, is when you do not have to get fully dressed to go out side and start or stop the generator because the remote start stop key fob is stuck on the kitchen wall! 2. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 They are everywhere ! Those pesky Squirrels are everywhere. No sooner did the sun come up when thump thump, a Squirrel comes out of a tree onto Poco’s home while we are touring with Oliver’s Legacy II. Betty, Poco and I were in our usual early morning Coffee Drinking spot, under the awning, in the lawn chairs. Poco was dozing in a patch of sunshine while in his lawn chair and on his favorite blanket, when he heard the atrocity. Instantly he is on alert. Then suddenly, bounding out of his chair in pursuit of the intruder. Tail high in the air, the Squirrel fled for the safety of the nearest tree. Satisfied that he had taken care of the situation, Poco strutted back to his place in the sun and curled back up in his blanket. Ah, yes, life out on the road in America’s Heartland. Ain’t it cool! 4. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 This cool photo was taken By JOSHUA JIRON of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Division. Long time friend Josh has it as wallpaper on his Facebook page. It just seems to capture the essence of the beautiful place when Oliver owner Pete Marks and I hiked to the summit one beautiful Colorado day. We were having a mini rally at a high up, 10,800 feet, campground that we were managing called Trujillo Meadows. Though we took some great pix that day, they don't quite capture the essence that Josh's photo does. Many hundreds of feet below us we could see our campsite beside the tiny looking lake, that was filled with four species of trout. Hey, Pete ! Still have any of those cool pix that you took ? 5. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 Do you ever carry stuff "just in case" you might need it ? Here is one such time that it worked out for us! Made out of that funny feeling gel like stuff that most of us associate with a cell phone’s protective cover, and also blue in color like some cell phone cases. It has remained in the laptop brief case, unused. It was cheap when I found it on eBay and I had snatched it up along with some other computer related stuff, to go into the laptop bag for one of those “just in case” situations. Well, that “just in case” time has arrived ! Here is a look at it. This ugly floppy blue keyboard has kept me up and running while out on the road! I was getting quite frustrated with a RV parks password entry for their internet, when I figured out that it was the laptop’s keyboard that wasn’t entering all of the character’s that I was keying in. After fuming for a bit, and answering some emails and forums with misspelled words, I remembered the unused keyboard in the computer bag. The makeshift workaround was just way too simple. The keyboard shook hands with my operating system, loaded it’s own drivers, and suddenly, I was back up and running. Now, I wonder if they make one in wireless bluetooth, instead of USB cord connected He, he, yeh, some of us just can’t get enough toys! 6. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 At our last check of the Weather, before turning in last night, we noted that a front would bring rain in the night. So, when rain on the roof of the Pony Express, woke us up briefly in the night it wasn’t a surprise. When I stepped out of the Pony after breakfast, cup of coffee in hand. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the light drizzle that was falling, was not the cold Winter mix that I had feared. Instead it was a mild Springtime shower that was quite nice. Here is where we were parked this morning early. Soon we caught up with the Storm as it traveled to the East. We are headed to Florida on the first leg of the 2014 Oliver Legacy II tour. Traveling along in the rain we began to talk about the dry conditions in Quartzsite, that we had been in a few short weeks ago. Here is a blog post about the dust there in “Q”, that somehow I just never did get around to posting. Dust The wind blew like crazy yesterday. Coming out of the South West the wind gusted to up around thirty five miles per hour. Here in the Desert South West, where ground covering vegetation can be pretty sparse, high wind means billowing dust. That wind and dust was a sign of a front that would soon arrive here at our Quartzsite campsite. Daytime temperatures will be dropping down into the upper sixties during the day. Now, that ain’t all that bad of a day! However, this morning everyone is wearing heavy coats and hoodies, and giving Betty and I strange looks as we are in our tee shirts and shorts. With another Artic blast about to hit family and friends back in America’s Heartland, we feel so lucky to be currently workamping here in the desert Southwest. MEANWHILE, back in the real world. . . . . So, here we are headed to Florida in a driving rain storm, yet we are looking forward to our first showings there. The Oliver “Road Crew”, Florida Bound. 7. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 The Oliver camping experience is somewhat hard to describe, because of the wide range of capabilities provided by the insulation and the double walled construction. Whether you are backing into a snow covered campsite with snow shoes and a backpack at the ready, or parking on the beach in a cool Gulf Coast location, those temperature extremes are handled so you can get a good night's rest, a good meal, catch the weather, and go for another round. 8. Share and Enjoy !0Shares0 0 One of the really cool things that we as Oliver owners never quite get used to is when a total stranger is so attracted to our trailer that they walk right up, at the gas pump or where ever, and unabashedly say "what a cute trailer, mind if I look while you pump?" I can't even begin to guess at the number of times that we have sat around a campfire with other Oliver owners exchanging stories about the ways that complete strangers will approach to get a closer look at our trailers. It seems like the most frequent one involves a situation where the Oliver has sat in a busy parking lot and as the owner returns from buying groceries or enjoying a meal, they are greeted by someone standing by their trailer looking it over. Then their next move is to bring the conversation around to, "can I look inside?" Yes it can happen at inconvenient times but we enjoy their interest since it seems to confirm our good choice in trailers.
