A (belated) THANK YOU to all who gave input! It was a thrill when we manually emptied the grey tank - which we've been doing ever since! The set screw will hold the cable in again one day, but for now, the routine is perfect. Again, thank you. :)

Today when pulling the grey water tank handle, about 12 inches of cable came out too. Has anyone had this happen? The tank is still full and hopefully Monday we can find service.
