  1. Yes indeedy, them thar "horsey shoes" were in FACT seats from the throne . . . this was, after all, an official "Hill-a-Palooza" with a kinda hillbilly twist. With their shape being kinda similar to them itty-bitty ones some city folk use, the Underwoods thought we'd hurl them at the posts instead. After the first couple of tosses it was determined they needed some beefin' up cuz they were sorta breakin' apart :o so Phil grabbed some of that thar ducky tape stuff and wrapped 'em real good like and the games continued.

    "Ducky tape . . . don't leave home without it!" ;)

    Here's our blog entry for the Hill-a-Palooza . . .

  2. 4/27 till whenever works great for Oscar & I . . . then we could go to the Bluebonnet Casita Rally which ends on the 4/25. Regardless of the dates, though, count us in the whole time. CATFISH here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. If it started on the 27th, folks could attend the Bluebonnet Casita Rally and then scoot up to lake Greeson. Given that the full moon is the 28th of April, how far either side is good for catching catfish?

  4. I wouldn't be so quick, Tom . . . the more I watch you two guys around the campsite, the more similarities I am seeing . . . You both like the same corny jokes, you both have this burning desire to grow a beard, you both are married to fantastic women, you both feel right at home in your fiberglass egg, neither of you prefers spicy food, you both really enjoyed wearing tie-dye, you both like long walks on the beach, etc, etc, etc

So don't be too sure ;)

  5. Someplace has to be Florida forever, 'cause this place I'm at right now sure doesn't feel like it! Even though the GPS and the sign at the park entrance said this was Manatee State Park, the ranger said it would be 15 degrees tonight!#$!?*!!! What's up with that?

Wish you Technomadias were down here already. After the hippie wedding on the beach, we started an EggRoll Rally . . . Oscar & I followed Mr & Mrs Tumbleweed & Earthdancer's Ollie down the road to this fine park as we head down to Ft Desoto State Park on an Island south of St Petersburg, FL where we'll meet up with Meanderthal & She Boss. They were also at the hippie wedding. Seadawg & her first mate will be joining us for a bit as well. Woohooo!

We're going to try and see some manatees in the river tomorrow. If we don't see any, Tumbleweed said he'd try and go ice skating for us! :o

  6. Wow, the discussion of any demise of the forum is enough to make the Christmas Grinch gloat with glee.

I understand jam49's thoughts . . . we have become an interesting community of cyber friends with a very unique item binding us together. Our Ollies are very important to us all and the wealth of information, ideas and skill sets amongst those interacting here is invaluable (and FUN as well). There would be a void if it were ever lost.

It needs to be emphasized that Oliver has not given a scintilla of evidence they have any intention of pulling the plug on this forum. Our trailers are named the "Oliver Legacy Elite" out of respect for, and in homage to Johnny Oliver, who was the inspiration behind this venture. I can't imagine they would not give this their sincerest efforts for a very long term success.

That being said, I'm sure the the FGRV community, over at http://www.fiberglassrv.com wouldn't mind a group of folks striking up more conversations specific to Ollie's. That forum is for all molded fiberglass trailers and is not brand unique. As to the possible gathering of a current contact list, Cherie, thanks for your expertise and willingness to consider helping, if needed. I am sure with your savvy you'd figure out a method to keep it it safe from all of our attempted spammers we're getting from Latvia, Russia, etc.

Enough of this . . . I'm going to go back to the land of Christmas Cheer! May everybody have a Happy New Year! See ya'll on the Oliver Forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Aubrey,

I zip tied the Xtreme heater to a 10 X 12 inch flexible, non skid, rubber mat and inserted it into the hold under the aft dinette seat. It rests just aft of the smart charger and blows the warm air back between the external shower box and the inner fiberglass shell. This helps protect that weak point Mountainborn spoke about earlier, where the short threads are on those two hoses.

This morning it dipped down to 30 degrees. After my first Cup-of-JO, I went out to take some temperature readings using the infrared thermometer that I have for checking tire and hub temps. Here's what I got as I pointed the "red dot" around between the two egg shells.

    Shower box - 55 degrees.

Back wall of trailer on street side - 55 degrees

Back wall on curb side - 42 degrees (shows the air circulates around between the shells)

Water lines near water pump - 41 degrees

I ran a ceramic heater inside the trailer on a very low setting. The inside temp was 45 degrees.

The Xtreme heater is plugged into a new a/c outlet in the fusebox using the same circuit as the refrigerator. It has 15 amps of protection which is more than enough.

Thanks for suggesting this great addition to our trailers, Aubrey!

  8. WOW! Christmas Eve . . . A departure in the wee hours of night for a 600 mile trek to accomplish a "mission of a few minutes" . . .Tornado :o . . . unbelievable weather forecast :? . . . massive storm end :( . . . an sunshine followed by SNOW

It must have been a mission of mercy accomplished by an Angel . . . :D

  9. I spoke with Vince Oliver just last month. He said they are still intending to open the production line in January. I asked if they were only going to be doing occasional "batches" and he said that they were planning on keeping the line open full time.

It is my understanding that they were waiting for some of their non-trailer production lines to become fully staffed prior to reopening the Oliver Travel Trailer operation.

It will be nice to see them up and running again . . .
