  1. So we were due to pickup in Feb. We prefer to boondock but we have spent the past 2 months making reservations for state parks ( the ones that had openings) and such - mapping harvest hosts out....so we could  Pick up our Oliver, sight see Georgia, South Carolina Florida, Alabama (Bellingrath Gardens has been on my list)  Gulf Coast without have to worry about were or if there was boon docking available. Take the Natchez Trace Parkway from Miss to Nashville, ending up at the Oliver Rally in May. Then head back to Az.

When we originally placed our order we wanted a particular color and pinstripe we had seen on the site but for a 2022 they were no longer offering that. It was disappointing but not a deal breaker. We really wanted to get a hull # under 1000. We would have been 1024. Still not a deal breaker.

We were notified earlier today that a slot had become available - pick up the end of Sept.

If we went for this today...it will be a 2021. We get the color , pinstripe and hull # under what we wanted.  We both agreed .... fate!  We are getting exactly what we originally wanted!

The only difference between the 21 and 22 will be the bearings - we will have to do the maintenance instead of the no maintenance ones on the 22. We already do that so no big deal.

So we will be hull # 914 and be picking up the end of Sept.

We have so many items on backorder sure hope they arrive but if not....we will make it work!  Theresa

Spring would not work for a Western Rally as it would conflict with the Oliver sponsored rally that is always in May at Guntersville. There's no sense in making folks have to choose between the two if the dates are too close to one another.

Of course!  I already made our reservations for the rally in Guntersville. Don't know what I was thinking....pretty sure it's age related lol

I shopped around and found an in the bed locking tool box that is deep enough for the Honda 2200 generator we chose.  In addition to the generator, it carries: a small tank of gasoline, small, portable LP tank (for an outside two burner stove and gas grill), the aforementioned gas grill, tools, bike tool box, folding camp table - items you like to keep secure and out of the weather.  It is deep enough to accommodate the generator and has tons of room for more "stuff".

We did not get the tongue accessory box because it would interfere with our bike rack that attaches to the pickup with a dual receiver hitch; the box would prohibit most turning situations.

    Storage box

Ball mount hitch with accessory receiver

Wondering which bike rack are you using and how you like it?

too would be very interested in a West Rally.  We don't pick up "L'il Tow" (Oliver LE1) until October 21st. If there is interest in a West Rally next year, I think we should start planning now.  There are several places in Oregon (where I live) that can accommodate such an event:

    Beverly Beach

    Bullards Beach

    Fort Stevens https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=129

    LaPine

    South Beach

    Sunset Bay

    Valley of the Rogue

To get an event discount, we must have at least 20 sites reserved.

    Other suggestions welcome.

    Beach or mountains?

    What time of the year?

    How many days?

    Activities?

    Thoughts anyone?

    Carl

So happy to see this idea active again. Fort Tutill State Park right outside of Flagstaff Arizona is where the Overland Expo West is held. Plenty of room and things to do.  3 days?  Spring? Fall? We pick up our Oliver in Feb. We are definitely in for a West Rally!

  5. Hi Nancy, Those are the dates Anita gave us. I called to make our reservations and let them know we would be attending the Oliver Rally. This will be our first time so that's the extent of my knowledge. (We don't pick up until Feb)  Really excited to meet in person all the wonderful people on this forum! Theresa

  6. Take  2 or 3  3/4" by 1/8 "  aluminum flat stock. Bent in a ( c) configuration or a (s) configuration depending on amount of room at the top by the seating area. Through bolted at the top of seating area. I would use flathead machined thread hardware with a decorative washer.  The straps to have a nut and bolt attached at appropriate places for attachment of the inverter. The bolts that the inverter will connect to will have extra length so the inverter can be attached after the bracket is installed. Bracket should be predrilled to attach to the plastic backer with screws. Bottom leg of the (c) or (s) bracket will be screwed ( not sure if you can in the ollie) or glued. This should transfer the weight of the inverter. The inverter to be bolted on with nyloc nuts or nuts, lock washers and threadlocker.  As safety is key all power sources should be de-engerized.  Just my thoughts -  Kevin

Has anyone made a pre-delivery checklist of all these low probability, but occurring failures, scattered about the forums from new owner pickups?

We are interested if anyone has made one as well.

We have started one and it's looking like it will be a very long but we anticipate very fine day when we pick our Oliver up in Feb. We planned on getting there a day ahead of time but thinking 2 so as to be really well rested after our 1300 mile trip.

  8. Hello Nick & Linda!  It's exciting right !?! We pick ours up the second week in Feb.     @MobileJoy is correct.  We've made the decision to purchase so now we are finding it's all about the researching of purchases we need to make / have for when we pick up our Ollie.  We will be roving for the first 4 months anyway.   We just ordered the anderson block kit that we feel will work best for us after alot of research and phone convo with the company ...they say it's at least 8 weeks out.  Trying to be minimalist but prepared! Hope to see you out and about!

  9. I can talk about our experience with Discount Tire. They had just installed new tires on my xterra. Husband took it to work early the next morning. All of sudden he feels a shake , starts slowing down and sees one of the tires rolling by him.  Towed to Discount  - Long story short...  It was their fault - they jumped right on it - something about the bolts not being tightened correctly. The rearend needed replacing after that. They no longer make them so it was junk yard time. We declined 5 before they found one 3 states over that was acceptable. This took 3 weeks.  It went to an auto shop and the work was done on them. We were supposed to leave the next day for a 7 day Moab trip with an Overland group.  All reservations had to be cancelled  Discount covered the cost of all the cancellation fees.   Didn't have to fight a bit for a thing.   We have been doing business with them for over 20 years. That might have made a difference.   *Thank God it was 4 am  - the  tire rolled through the median and into oncoming traffic - of which there was none!

Pretty sturdy for what it is.  Holds my grill just fine, but I don't think I would want to put too much more weight on it.  Like so many things these days, if you are gentle with it you can make it last.

Looks good! We have the REI roll up table -  I wish it had that extra mesh netting.

  11. Hi Frank, Thank you. Yes, we bought from Tim Dahle. They put the 4x4 in it. (It's covered under the warranty.) We added the lift and the Avatar Metal works bumper with winch after that picture.  The winch is part of  our self recovery gear. The fact that its a  3500 and on the titan truck frame is great!  There is so much room it it. Unfortunately , Nissan has decided to stop making them this year. People are going crazy driving the prices up on them. I think whats left on Tim Dahls Lot are spoken for.

  12. So we purchased the Anderson hitch up grade and I got to wondering. We have installed a 3" Titan xd lift kit on our van. (it's the same truck frame). Has anybody towed with a lifted vehicle and the anderson hitch? Will we need an extra drop down ?  The picture is before the lift and bigger tires but my xterra does have a lift and it tows behind it fine. I guess I should clarify - no lift van to lifted nissan - so lifted van to no lift oliver with the anderson hitch -  will it work?

  13. Kingman Az here. Yup this past month has been terrible. We don't pick our Oliver up till feb. We did go with the lithium upgrade package. Our garage (where it will be kept when not in use) is getting a split system just incase.  We do  hope to pick up our Oliver and immediately start to travel full time as the retirement plug gets pulled 2 weeks before we pick it up. We will follow the weather.

I think the drop down is lovely, too. I'm going to poke around for a mount that would fold up,, but elevate it above the cushions/bed. There must be something... there's so much out there in the marine world.

Best of luck. I truly love it when people bring in handmade wood accents, and personalize their trailers.

My dad was a master furniture and wood craftsman. It's in my heritage to appreciate.

Thank you!  The marine pedestal is definitely the way we will be going for the dinette.  That's another great idea and I will be scouring sites for that fold up as well.  Your knowledge and help is greatly appreciated.

How lovely for you to have that in your heritage!! I grew up in Vermont - all things maple syrup (lol) and wood.

You "could" replace the leg with a marine hydraulic pedestal. That would be cool... and you could maybe find one that would allow you to raise the tabletop to counter height. I use the little table a lot for prep when cooking, and I've thought about putting a hydraulic pedestal on my Christmas list. (Santa gave the Oliver a lot of big gifts the last few years 🤔)

But, you'd have to mount it out a bit away from the wall to clear the shade frame.

Beautiful table. I'd want to keep it, too.

SeaDawg, What a great idea! Thank you.
