Propane/CO alarm quick-disconnect?
GlacierGirl replied to GlacierGirl's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@John Dorrer. The RV-Safe alarm we ordered actually comes with a Wago or Wago-look-alike connector! ☺️ -

Propane/CO alarm quick-disconnect?

FINAL DECISION: Well, we decided against any shutoff options and went with the RV-Safe alarm like the OEM one that came in our hull #941. Thanks to all for your ideas and thoughts. Barb -
Propane/CO alarm quick-disconnect?

And @jd1923, thank you for your post for rewiring and moving things under the dinette seat. I will certainly work on that. Barb -
Propane/CO alarm quick-disconnect?
GlacierGirl replied to GlacierGirl's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@Rivernerd, that's a good reason for me to "let my hair down" while camping! @jd1923, no, I'm sorry I didn't articulate well. Our alarm, like yours, is under the dinette seat. I thought everyone could read my mind 😏 when I mentioned "under the street-side bed". That was in reference to removing the fuse for false alarms. I was thinking that in the case of those middle-of-the-night false alarms - or anytime there's a false alarm - that it would be handy to be able to simply reach under the dinette seat and disconnect a connector. I'm not sure why you couldn't read my mind!😁 -
Propane/CO alarm quick-disconnect?
GlacierGirl replied to GlacierGirl's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I haven’t been able to find that post… -
Would it be possible to use some sort of quick-disconnect connector on the wiring for the propane/CO alarm? We must replace our alarm and, once replaced, I thought it would be wonderfully convenient to simply reach under the dinette seat, rather than under the street side bed, to quickly disconnect it in case of a false alarm. How to stop AC from clicking (attempting to start?)
GlacierGirl replied to GlacierGirl's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@SteveCr, thanks! We have always kept our differential at d2, and I would think that default setting is the better choice. No? -
How to stop AC from clicking (attempting to start?)
GlacierGirl replied to GlacierGirl's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@jd1923, I've never even heard of a control box! I had no idea when we purchased this Oliver 1 1/2 years ago how much I would need to learn!!! Yes, I reset the thermostat and my husband shut off the breaker, and the clicking is as bad as ever. In a year and a half we have yet to use the air conditioner, so I don't even want to think about replacing it (even though it's volume was off the charts when we tested it). I'll go read the thread you mentioned. Thank you for sticking with me on this! Barb -

How to stop AC from clicking (attempting to start?)
GlacierGirl replied to GlacierGirl's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@jd1923, thank you very much! Our Dometic a/c doesn't have a heat pump, nor does our thermostat have that setting. You may be right about our thermostat being on its last legs; hopefully it can limp thru this month-long trip. We greatly appreciate your idea of shutting off the breaker for the a/c and have just now followed your advice.☺️ We'll see how tonight goes. Barb -
We are boondocking and running our furnace at night. The fan, via our Dometic thermostat, is set to AUTO, although we have also run it on low at times. Our problem is that throughout the night whenever the furnace is attempting to ignite, the AC is also making loud clicking sounds, as though it is trying to start, as well. To be clear, the clicking sounds probably aren't loud, but at night they sure seem to be! Argh! Anyway, what do we need to change to stop the AC from trying to do whatever it's doing? Thanks! Barb

@Steve Morris, oh, thank you so much! Your knowledge about such things is helpful and your answer is comforting. I appreciate your input! Barb -

Dexter Axle Upgrade Options - To EZ or NevR Lube Design
GlacierGirl replied to Geronimo John's topic in General Discussion
@jd1923, WOW! I am so grateful for thorough explanations like yours so I can learn about these Oliver details of which I know nothing about! Thank you! It must have been a different Mark & Barb who had brake shoe issues; regardless, I want to have some knowledge to be prepared for possible future malfunctions. Your previous comment about your brake locking up put fear in me - now I know a bit about what to do. Thanks! -

@jd1923, or anyone, what is one supposed to do when a brake locks up? 😬 -

@Steve Morris, argh! I made the mistake of having my husband install the Reese receiver backwards(?) on our back bumper. In other words, the wider & higher “lip” around the receiver is closest to our spare tire. Is this a problem? It would be an easy fix if we could simply turn it around, but with the original Oliver receiver holes drilled in the bumper, and now the “backward” Reese receiver holes, I worry about rotating and moving the Reese receiver off-center and adding more holes. What is your opinion? Thank you! Barb -
That's a good idea since we often camp far away from cellular reception. Yes, it's more expensive, but not terrible. And, @Steve Morris, it's good to know that your Trak-4 has been mostly reliable most of the time. This is going to be a difficult decision!
-
Oh, I did not see that option on their website!
-
We feel safe when the trailer is at home, but we want tracking abilities when we boondock in isolated areas in Utah and leave the trailer while we go off hiking for the day.
-
That's a good idea, @CRM! I was looking into the Trak-4 tracker, and their subscription is $7 a month, after purchasing the device for around $15 on Amazon. So the phone would actually be a costlier method, but I like your ingenuity!☺️
-
We are wanting to place a GPS tracker on our Ollie. The posts concerning trackers that I’ve seen on these forums all appear to be at least two years old. I’d love to know what trackers you folks are using now - and, of course, details on how you like them, the monthly/annual cost, etc. We have android phones. Thanks, Barb
