Update! I contacted Jason Essary per Topgun2's advice and we have a path forward. Oliver will be rewiring our Legacy Elite so that the induction stove top will run through our inverter. I have decided to keep our 2000w inverter as OTT indicates that is part of the build as designed. I was aware that my unit was equipped with this inverter when I made my order. They will also be adding an omni directional antenna which was on my build order but was not put on my unit. It is something that we have often used and prefer that it is installed. Finally, they will fix the lettering on the side of my unit given it is badged as a Legacy Elite II but is actually a Legacy Elite. That is an easy fix. My hat is off to Jason Essary for getting this hammered out so quickly. I called at noon, got his email, sent him an email, and had a resolution by mid afternoon. Great response. Sales will cover the costs of this service. I am now just waiting on a service date and plan to travel to the OTT facility for the service. Thank you to everyone on this forum. Your advice and support has been great! I know I will have more questions in the future and hopefully can pay back by helping others someday as well. Onward to explore this amazing country😊! Lamar

We are now over 4,000 miles traveling this spring/summer in our Elite 1. We love this camper and are having a great time. So, we now know why our induction stove top is inoperable when we are boondocking w/o using a generator…it is not wired through the inverter. We have been in contact with Tech support and the Service dept. Service spoke with the Design and also Production. 1. Design said the stove top was run through the inverter because it would drain the batteries after 90 min of use. (We don’t cook that way when boondocking, or even when we are hooked to shore power) 2. Production said they would not support Oliver paying for or sharing the cost of rewiring because it is functioning as designed. I would have to pay out of pocket. They were unsure what that would do to the warranty. (To us, we believe this is a design issue that needs correcting) 3. The cost to have Oliver rewire to the existing 2000w inverter is $600+. 4. The cost to have Oliver rewire and add a 3000w inverter is just under $2500. I have been in the manufacturing world before I retired and I understand the response, they are not the decision makers. I know that I need to get to the decision maker level. I have contacted the sales person at B&B RV in Denver who is advocating on our behalf to his Rep at Oliver. I’m waiting on a call from that person. I have been told, but haven’t verified, that the 2027 Elite I units are wired to the inverter and this issue was a topic of discussion. However, the rep had not heard yet about our unit. I hope to verify that info soon. They are advertising a 2 burner induction stovetop in the 2027 Elite I. I would be surprised if that is actually what is in the 2027 units, but I could be wrong. So the story continues. I’m disappointed so far that 1) we were told the induction stovetop would work on battery and it doesn’t. 2) the response is very slow and I have to initiate a lot of contact to keep the ball rolling. 3) The design didn’t keep the boondocking campers in mind yet the marketing very obviously did (Check out the Oliver website). 4) Oliver, so far, expects us to pay for an “upgrade” in order to address this issue. I am asking for a 3000w inverter and wiring. I will provide my time and cost to travel to the factory and wait while they fix this (and a couple of other minor issues). Steve and MA, you are probably right. This is our 4th camper and with all of them (30 amp models), you made choices such as running a microwave vs the AC. We manage battery power, water, tanks, and propane. When you made the wrong choice, you learned and didn't do it again or you prepared for it. The induction stovetop is a new one for us and @jd1923 broke the info down in such a helpful way. Thanks for your comments.

JD1923...What a great explanation based on your experiment and knowledge. This makes sense to me. We do not cook full meals or use a stove top for very long in our camper. Big stuff like meats, grilled veggies and such are outside on our griddle and that is only a handful of times when we camp. Hot water for coffee, eggs, pancakes, is more like what we make on the stove top; and it is just the two of us. This is so helpful. We are experienced campers and are good at conserving energy and water. We certainly don't live in the camper or even spend much of the day in the camper. Time to share information with Oliver. FYI, I did speak with the sales person at B&B RV. As I anticipated, he was not aware that on this build unit the induction stove top was not routed through the inverter and wouldn't work when boon docking. He will also be contacting Oliver to discuss a remedy. So far, everyone I spoke with have been unaware of this issue and are hoping to find a way to resolve. That is a good thing.

I feel like I'm giving them an opportunity to step up. Those that I'm currently talking to are likely not ones who can make some Company decisions. I'm hopeful as the conversation progresses with Oliver and within Oliver that we can find a resolution.

We have returned from a 3,000+ mile trip through CO, Utah, AZ, and NM. Very much enjoyed our Oliver Elite I, except for this issue. I have been in contact with technical support and now service at Oliver. Here is the update. 1. As many of you suggested, the induction stovetop is NOT wired through the inverter. The engineers did not do so because of the electrical needs of the induction stovetop -- 1750 watts with a 2000 watt inverter and the batteries at 260 AH. The tech told me that they only made 4 Elite 1 Platinum units in 2026 that were wired this way. 2. If we put a 3000 watt inverter in, the batteries would be drained after 90 min of stovetop use. While we would never use that much at one time, it would be cumulative as long as we are boondocking. During a cloudy period and other use, the drain on the batteries could be a problem. So it isn't recommended to replace the 2000 watt inverter with a 3000+ inverter. BTW, they would be unable to increase the batter size to accommodate. 3. Since we ordered the camper through B&B RV in Denver, service suggested B&B Rv would be responsible for selling us this unit and telling us the stovetop would work during boondocking. I do have a call into them and waiting on a return. 4. Oliver service is checking on switching out the induction stove for a propane stove. In addition, they are checking with manufacturing regarding the production of these units with this limitation. Currently, waiting to hear back from Oliver and also from B&B RV in Denver. We now know what the problem is, but we don't have a way forward yet to resolve the issue. Oliver is currently suggesting a fix would be an upgrade but they are checking with manufacturing. I'm suggesting it is fixing a poor design decision. More to come on that. Stay tuned.

Steph and Dud, This works great for us. We are coming to the end our initial voyage . We needed to keep reminding each other where/when in the days ahead. We tend to not think about calendars so much when traveling and sometimes we don’t even know where we will stay the next night. I put up a similar white board using command strips on the closet door of our 2026 LE1. Hull #1687. Good use of that space and we quit asking each other what’s next. Lamar😁

You have all provided a lot of very interesting information. To be clear, some of it may be a bit beyond me. So a couple of info points. We have a 1 burner induction stove. It does have a separate breaker. When trying to turn the stove on, there is not any response. Possibly not wired through inverter. I have been working with a great OTT customer support person who has engaged the tech dept. Because were are in the middle of travels with the Oliver and are mostly boondocking, the customer support person is working on his end and we will reconnect when we return to home base. Staying in contact when WiFi and cell coverage is very spotty, makes it difficult to work on this issue. I’m also confident OTT will come through based on support so far and all of your responses. I’m not going to touch rewiring anything because 1) I’m limited to basic wiring 2) this unit came off the line in March (3 months ago) and is under warranty. Learning a lot. We really love this camper and what it brings to the table. But, we have to figure this out. For now, generator if we want to cook inside. Set up gas grill for outside (I don’t like to do this while we are in bear country). Eat out (had amazing Mexican meal in Cortez, CO yesterday). Eat out of the fridge (which works amazingly well). Coffee on the little propane burner. All doable. I’ll let you know when we get this resolved. Lamar

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry I haven’t updated sooner. We have been boondocking for several days. I have been in communication with support at Oliver. At first they didn’t understand why it wasn’t working. As they investigated they reported that it appears that the stovetop does pull 1800 w and overloads the 2000 w inverter. The only other major draw is the refrigerator. Even when I turn that off, the stovetop does not come on. I stopped at a Bass Pro the first day to pick up a small 2 burner propane stove so we could at least have coffee in the morning. Not what I was planning when camping. If I had known I would have asked for the propane stove instead of the induction stove. We have the Platinum pkg and I did ask sales at the dealer if people liked the induction stove and if I could use it boondocking. Answer was that it works. I noticed that the induction cooktop comes standard on the Legacy 2026. This isn’t working for us as designed. I have asked for this to be resolved…proper inverter set up or a propane stove retro fit. If you do much camping at Harvest Hosts, BLM, National Forrest, National Parks, etc. w/o hookups, it is a problem unless you run a generator. When we return from our travels we will see where Oliver lands on this. They are considering possible “upgrades” to our camper. I wouldn't see a resolution as upgrades, but will find out. When hooked up to shore power, the cooktop works great. But so far for us, most of our trip, was making coffee or cooking outside on a portable propane stove.

Ok, I started my generator and now my True Induction Stove Top works. Am I missing something?

Snack Chaser, thanks for the response. I found the buttons on the USB outlets. Didn’t know they were there and they all work. Good to know. All of the outlets that I can find work. There is one GFCI that I found near the floor in the forward dinette that was tripped. But after resetting it the induction stove still is not working. The one outlet outside is not GFCI. I’m going to hook into shore power again to see if by doing that the stove will turn on. I have both a generator and a 30 amp connector nearby for this morning yet. Lamar

We took possession of our new 2026 Legacy I in about April. Spent most of the time learning the systems and getting ready for our trip to Utah where we plan to do mostly Boondocking. We did one trial run overnight close to home to get the feel for things but we were tied into shore power. We were planning on a second unhooked but storms rolled and we had to leave. Tonight is night one on the 2 week long trip and we are boondocking. The True Induction Stove top will not turn on. It did turn on when we were hooked to shore power when we did the trial run. I am using a lodge frying pan, making sure we have the right material on the stove top. But there are no lights coming on the cooktop. I checked the breaker and it appears ok (knowing they can go bad and you can’t tell until you replace them). The inverter seems to be working as the microwave/convection oven works. The batteries appear to be above 90%. It’s gonna be a long 2 weeks without a stovetop. I don’t know if this is related but two 12 v receptacles on the street side do not appear to be working either. I’ve checked fuses but they seem to be fine. Any insight would be appreciated. I’ll also put a ticket in, but I’m sure Oliver is closed until at least Tuesday because of Memorial Day. Thank you all for the info. I typically will tow with my Yukon. Seems to get 10 to 12 mpg no matter how I'm loaded 🤨 . All of your responses are very helpful as are the Pics Topgun. I can certainly understand the 10% back roads thing. More than once I had to re-attach my dinette seating to floor on my first Travel Trailer. I also have been know to hike back looking for my stinky slinky! Thanks.

In March we are transitioning to an Oliver from a Rockwood Mini-Lite. The Mini-Lite, and our previous Travel Trailers, had freshwater, grey and black tanks suspended below the frames with bracing on the side and below to keep in place. We rarely traveled with more than a few gal of freshwater because of the potential damage to the metal braces with the weight and movement of the water. We did experience this type of damage on one of our trailers. This has led us to waste water by dumping fresh water at times prior to taking off on a travel day. That was frustrating. I know the Oliver's tanks are inside of the outer hull and above the frame structure. They are also place along the center lines of the trailer versus side to side or square. I can't find anything in the forum that speaks to this, but I may just be missing it. My question is, "can you travel with either full or partially full water tanks without damaging the hull or frame structure"? I understand that Weight distribution must take the weight of the water into account, but as far as structure, what is your experience and recommendations? soon to be a new Oliver Owner, Lamar

Thank you all for your comments. They are very helpful. We also have a 2nd vehicle that we want to be able to tow with, a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 Hemi. However, it is not adequate for the Elite II in my book. Topgun's comment about the hitch weight would be a major concern. Since posting, we have toured both the Elite II and the Elite I owned privately. The Oliver community is so welcoming and the tours were so helpful. While we have a Mini-lite, we also have a Tab 320 and have taken it across the country. We are used to small. We decided to go with an Elite I. So it is on order and due to deliver in March! Either vehicle will be fine to tow with. I'm also a believer in a sway controller based off of a couple of near misses while traveling. Thank you all. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I take delivery.

We are looking at purchasing an Elite II. Our TV is a 2020 Yukon Denali 1500 4x4 with an 6.2L V8 (not the recalled engine). Tow rating is 8100 lbs with 1000 lbs tongue weight rating. Cargo weight is 1547 lbs. We currently tow a Forest River Mini Lite and never have it close to GVWR. We have towed it up through the Tetons and Yellowstone a couple of times w/o issues other than gas mileage is more like gal per mile vs miles per gal :-). Wondered if others have towed with this vehicle and if what thoughts you might have.
