geokeg Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 What has been used to prevent tree pollen from fouling the roof and other items up there like solar panels, ant., etc? I would like to have a simple solution for install and removal that works. My untried idea is a couple of sections of visqueen with gromets or tarp clamps and thin nylon cord to tie to the frame or other convenient location. Any other ideas out there? I live in the PNW and Springtime tree pollen is a real bother. Thanks, George George and Gretchen Gig Harbor, Wa. Hull Number 178
KarenLukens Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I use a large tarp from Harbor Freight, visqueen lasts a year or 2 but totally falls apart into tiny pieces when left in the sun. But if your leaving it place while using it then draping the visqueen completely across and cut to fit, washes off easily. Commanche Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 We have a roof on poles that the previous owner built. Of course every time we bought a different horse trailer, we had to raise the roof, and when we bought the Ollie, the roof had to go up again. The top had some old dirty green panels that did not let much light through, so I replaced 4 of the panels with clear ones that still lets the solar panels keep the batteries charged. It would be nice if the roof was another 5' longer, but it's what I have. Keeps the leaves and tree junk off most of the trailer. geokeg Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Thanks Stan. Pretty neat solution and easy to use/maintain once set up. As we clear space on our property for the Oliver a cover similar to that will probably be put up. George George and Gretchen Gig Harbor, Wa. Hull Number 178
