  1. Thanks, Geri! I'm feeling pretty good about the trailer hookup now. And I am going to meet with Pete. (He should love your comment and winking eye!) I'm your age, so your feedback is very relevant! I'm also familiar with your gorgeous photos. Are there any other challenges--things that make you cuss and scream? Clearly the jacks count. But what about connections to sewer, water, etc? Anything along those lines? My worst fear is I that may not be able to afford the lovely Oliver and will have to compromise. Thanks again!!
  2. Thanks, Pete. I'll get in touch... Maybe through your blog is best? I'm wondering if I should post elsewhere, some place for new travel trailer people. Rather than posting beautiful pictures or high-tech solutions, my questions are sooooo basic. I just keep looking but can't find any other site. Recommendations anyone???
  3. I am an older woman who plans to get an Oliver and live in it, that is, unless I learn that there are some physically challenging parts that I can't carry off or can't do alone. I'm guessing that hooking up to the tow vehicle is the hardest solo, ole gal activity. I've towed lots of sailboats over the years, but a travel trailer in the middle of nowhere is something else. I'm also wondering about connecting water, sewer lines, etc. I fear buying something that I'm not strong or clever enough to take advantage of. Any advice?
  4. Techno--what caused you to want to sell your T@B for an Oliver? I'm just wondering what Oliver features are most enticing to you and how you see the new travel trailer as advantageous over the old. You're planning to full-time it, aren't you?
  5. How do I get started planning for my new Ollie (anybody remember Kukla, Fran, and Ollie?)? I believe I talk to Robert Partee, but I don't know his email. I reckon I could call him...
  6. Oops! It's the T@B with a "B" and not a "D." T@DA is correct, however. Sorry T@B owners.
  7. While I am definitely an Oliver fan and plan on buying one in the not-too-distant future, I came upon the T@D site. Not only are their color choices a lot of fun, they have some other clever features I wanted to share. One is the bike carrier on the front, and the other is the screened-in room. (Of course, I'd probably worry about my screened-in room blowing away since I'm the one who asked the questions about big, bad winds!). I'm including url for site. Also note, that T@D is making a larger version of its trailer called the T@DA. http://www.tab-rv.com/tour/index.php
  8. Thanks to those of you who posted an answer to my question. I now feel better about driving in high winds and have decided to get a more powerful tow vehicle based on the responses. I had thought about a Ranger V-6 for the gas mileage. I still don't know what one does while camping. A storm is coming, anticipated to have high winds, etc. Do you hurry and hook up the Ollie and head for cover somewhere--if there is such a thing in, say, the plains? Do you go to your car and hope the trailer is ok? Or do you sit in the trailer with a seat belt on? As you can see, I'm still a bit anxious. We've had large storms for several nights in a row here in central Texas and over the course of several weeks, and I keep trying to see myself in a little Ollie instead of my brick abode secured to a slab foundation.
  9. Hi, folks. I have a dumb but lingering worry about getting a small travel trailer, especially in light of all the tornado activity we've been having around the country. My question isn't about a tornado, however. I just wonder what happens with other big winds that often accompany storms. I want to spend a lot of time on the road, so what happens if you're parked somewhere and a 60 mph wind kicks up? Will it blow the trailer over? What if you're on the highway? I know a big motor home will survive, but I don't know about a little Oliver. Thanks in advance for any information that will assuage my worries so I can proceed to get the trailer of my dreams!
  10. I could sure benefit from some of those answers, too, Pete. Maybe there's a book I should read?
  11. Northwoods, any floor plans to be seen for twin bed arrangements?
  12. I can't get to Lake Havasu or to Pomona, but San Antonio is easy. When and where is that event?
  13. Maybe we can get Pete to post some photos of his Oliver???
  14. It is PETE, not Mark. Marks is the last name! And Pete did a great job of representing Oliver. Such a nice guy! I'm sold. The problem is, he has so many wonderful and unique innovations on his Oliver that I can't remember them all (nor will I be able to afford them all, but that's another story!). What impressed me the most was Pete's ability to figure out exactly what he wanted/needed and your willingness and ability to make it all happen. The graphics were amazing! The whole rig was amazing! I'll be a solo traveled like, Pete, but I'm a clutzy female. I'm pretty sure I can do it. Now I just need the Oliver!!!
  15. I hope people will continue responding to this question because I am in the same dilemma. My brother is trying to talk me into a Ford Ranger, small 6, or a comparable Mazda. But love seeing what others are towing with.
  16. I went to Bandera, TX, today where a gathering of 160+ Casita travel trailers was underway. Someone mentioned Mark, the owner of a new and wonderful small travel trailer. I found Mark and he proudly gave my brother and I a tour of his new home on the road. It is a wonderful trailer. I am saving my pennies---and everything else I can get my hands on--so I can get one just like Mark's. He had his customized in every way imaginable, and it seems the Oliver people are very happy to do that for customers. Mark was wonderful to take the time to share this terrific trailer!
