Ha Ha! No, the platform just slides out. Here’s a picture of it before I had the foam on top.

Not sure how the normal twin beds are configured but we have the raised twin beds and we just converted to a king. I used a 3/4” piece of birch plywood with a 5” piece of memory foam on top of it.
