  1. From the information located at the forum below, it looks like Rumline is right. As an old guy, I find it odd that to get max towing one has to have an automatic. Lots of interesting info here, if it’s all true to the info on the door jamb: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/2020-jeep-gladiator-specifications-sheet-feature-availability.8468/
  2. I am as happy as a pig in mud that this thing has been finally unveiled. I’ve been, and will continue, to try to balance a future Ollie, an off road truck, and fly fishing in hard to reach places. Being the “Jeep Guy” that I am, Overland is right about the aftermarket Jeep “stuff.” It’s crazy and Jeep knows it. My pipe dream is for the Gladiator to be able to handle an Elite II. We’ll see!
  3. To put it mildly, I’m a Jeep guy. I’ve owned various Jeeps over the past four decades, in fact I’ve considered myself “Jeep poor” many a time. I’ve just sold my wife’s Unlimited so now all I have is a Rubicon and two Cherokees. The Unlimited cannot pull any Ollie. I promise. As for the Gladiator, it is my dream car, we’ll see... Good luck on you’re quest. I’m in the same boat as you.
  4. Hi George, Don here in Louisiana. I too am in the process of considering an Elite II, but I don't have the experience with travel trailers that you have. I reckon that makes me a true novice. I've been voraciously reading the posts here, and I've found them to be very enlightening about the OTT. But, just as importantly I've learned a lot about this respectful community of OTT owners. Since I am such a novice I don't know what I don't know, thus I'll be very interested in both the questions you ask and the responses given. Glad to meet you. Don BTW, Boise is on my short list of places to retire to in a few years.
  5. Thank you one and all. I certainly do prefer quality which is what drew me to Oliver in the beginning. Raspy, I had a Nor'Sea 27 for a number of years upon which I puttered around on/in the muddy waters of Galveston Bay with occasional forays into the Gulf. One day a bell went off in my thick head when realized the only thing between me and the bottom is a busted seacock and a bilge pump. The Nor'Sea is certainly a quality vessel and for its size quite pricy. Yep, Oliver Elite II is high on my list for the same reason, quality. As for the rally this weekend, well we graduate on Saturday. A number of college grads would be more than a little bent out of shape were I not there to see them "walk." Ah well, life is in the timing. I hope to see the local fly fishers Elite II sometime this week. Again, thanks to everyone for a warm welcome.
  6. Hi, I'm just beginning to start the search. I'm transitioning from a sailboat to a travel trailer, and I've only narrowed the search down to an egg. I hope to be seeing an Ollie in my neck of the woods soon. Seems a fellow fly fisher has one near by.
