  1. This thread gives me a chuckle. Over at the Casita forums there is constant chatter over mods. I mean real mods. Oliver makes such a complete trailer that all we have to talk about are hull numbers. I confess that I enjoy a project and performed numerous mods to our Casita. Since buying the Ollie all I have done is add some coat hooks, EZE gutters, and a couple of inside jack switches. Nothing more needed. This is a good thing.

We are going to stick #64 on the back of Setting Sail. Just need to get over to the decal shop to do it.

  2. That sense of independence must feel great. What do you use for water purification? I have seen small distillers on Gone With the Wynns, and the Seychelle filters are good. We have a Big Burkee at home but it is too big for the Ollie. A small system that draws little power would be great.

  3. Try the blog now. There was some type of re certify I had to do,.

Bed roll is whatever is on the bed when we wake up. My wife sewed a fitted sheet for the bottom. I f I have a sheet plus blanket I undo the corners at the head and with pillow inside just roll it up. Low tech and cheap but it works. At night I just reverse the roll...wrap the corners and go to sleep. Bed by night, sofa by day.

  4. The memory foam mattresses are really comfortable. We paid less than $250 at Amazon. Carol made a paper template of the bed which we gave a local foam shop when they cut the mattresses to size.

To make our bed we simply roll out the bed roll which stays on the bed under throw pollows during the day. I like the sleeping bag idea but it would be too hot for our type of camping.

Oliver has pics of our layout on their Facebook page, or you may visit my blog.

  5. Bill,

We plan to spend part of every Summer in your area so we will be sure to give you a shout. Likewise if you get down to the upper Gulf coast of FL let me know.

I hope Olliver is keeping the owner map up dated. I is good to visit other owners while traveling.

Five Ollies will be at the Cherokee rally in a couple of weeks. Drop in if you can.

  6. I agree with Steve. We have been on some steep sites where I had the Ollie completely off the ground while hitched up to keep from leaning backwards. That was an extreme situation and I would not make it a habit, but the jacks are really strong. Setting up is a delight now that I don't have to get down on my knees to crank out manual jacks, or fiddle with the Bal leveler.

Call me lazy but at 69 I am done with "hard".

A real treat is pushing the dashboard button to activate my auto level system I just had installed. No WDH for this guy anymore.

  7. I became so frustrated with the Anderson hitch I will no longer use it. Instead, I had air bag lifters installed in my truck with a built in compressor so all I do to level the truck is push a button on my dash. Then push another button to deflate after the tow is unhitched. The Ollie does not swing...even at high speeds so sway control is not a problem.

A side benefit is leveling when hauling a lot of weight. Last week I had six hundred pounds of sackrete in the bed and the air bags leveled me right up.

I will sell the Anderson for a good price.

  8. Congratulations. You will love your Ollie.

We live in Florida so UV is always a problem, but I get more heartburn over leaves and oak pollen. My answer is a cheap tarp from Lowes I throw over the trailer during Spring and Fall. The AC, solar panels, and fan take up a lot of the roof so I don't worry too much about the sun. I wish I had a barn for storage, but for now the tarp must suffice.

  9. Sherry,

Are you all in Asheville? We had a great time at Mount Pisgah. Lots of rain, but it was still a treat to escape the Gulf Coast heat.

Would like to chat about buying a landing pad in that region. Send me a PM with your phone number please.
