We have a broken leaf spring on our 2019 LEII on Gunflint Trail in Minnesota (not at all a convenient place for this to happen.) From what I’ve read the OEM is a 1750# 4-leaf spring…is it a Dexter? Does anyone happen to have a part number? I now know from experience and searching for info here it would’ve been a good idea to have a spare on hand.

I live in Duluth if you need a hand with anything! Happy to run up with some tools, beer, and/or moral support!

Thanks Hugo for the fine-print details, any future info anyone gleans would also be appreciated. I agree with @Geronimo John it maybe awhile before this mini becomes available in an RV/camping/travel package. I will be really interested if and when it does. I do like what the future mounting possibilities could be with this mini dish.

Not a problem! Their email said I was invited since I was an "early" Starlink customer so not sure what information is available to everyone who aren't already using them. Happy to research anything else if you need it.

  3. Siding and trim work is done, doors are in, windows are in, garage doors/openers have been delivered and will be installed next week. Then, final grading and the asphalt people do their thing! Coming together!

Not what I was hoping to hear. We live in a rural area and have been using a line of sight solution where a Cooperative put dishes on cell towers. They installed one on my barn and works very well, only $60 a month, unlimited and I see speeds in the 80-90 GB down and 8-10DB up. Hate to have to use at home to make use of the mini.

Exactly why we got the home Starlink in the first place. Our line of sight was horribly inconsistent and had terrible speeds. It was cheaper but much more aggravating since I still do some work from home. The Home Starlink has been superb as has the Mobile Starlink! We're eligible for the Mini but, I'll still run with the mobile since I can shut it down over the winter or months we're not using it. It's probably a wash in the long run for the Mobile vs the Mini as the Mini cost is cheaper until you hit the data usage limit which we probably would since I upload videos on the road quite a bit.

  5. Additional Mini details: Mini Roam Service Plan. The Mini Roam Plan allows you to access Services at any destination where Starlink provides active coverage and is designed for low demand, portable, land-based use, such as camping or nomadic living. You must have an active Residential or Mobile Service Plan ("Primary Plan") in order to purchase a Mini Roam Services Plan. If you cancel your Primary Plan, your Mini Roam Plan will also be cancelled. Mini Roam Services allow you to access Services only at land-based destinations within the continent that you receive Residential Services. Mini Roam Services cannot be used on the ocean or in-motion. Mini Roam Services cannot be paused. If you use Mini Roam Services for more than two months in a country that is different than your Primary Plan Service address, Starlink may suspend your Mini Roam Services. Starlink may immediately suspend your Services if your new location is not in an authorized territory (marked “Available or Waitlist”) on the Starlink map: www.starlink.com/map. Mini Roam Service charges will be ongoing until you terminate your Primary Plan Services or your Mini Roam Services via your Starlink account. The Mini Roam Service Plan assigns a set amount of “Mobile” data to customers each month, as described in the Fair Use Policy. Mobile data that is assigned to Mini Roam users is always deprioritized as compared to other Starlink Service Plans, resulting in degraded Service and slower speeds in congested areas and during peak hours. Unused Mobile data does not rollover to the next month. If you have exhausted your Mobile data in a given month, you are able to purchase additional Mobile data. Customers who exhaust and have not purchased additional Mobile data will be unable to connect to the internet except to access their Starlink account on www.starlink.com, where additional Mobile data can be purchased, so that you may reconnect to the internet. You may not transfer the Kit assigned to your Mini Roam Plan to another customer or account at any time. If you cancel your Mini Roam Services and wish to reactivate, Starlink may require you to switch to the Regional Plan described in Section 5.1(a).

We have been considering Starlink for our Oliver. I think this latest version of the new Starlink mini dish might really be worth a look and waiting for. With a much more compact/portable size and initial lower cost might be a viable option for our needs. It will be interesting to see how this new mini dish performs.

I received the mini dish email last night. We have Starlink residential service due to our rural location and it works great. The email stated that you must have residential service to add on the Mini at $30/month which might be a deal breaker for many, not to mention the $599 hardware cost. It is also limited to 50GB download and $1/GB over that. It has a built in router and looks like it has it's own portable rechargeable power supply at first glance. Here's the link to the Mini specs: https://www.starlink.com/specifications?spec=5  We have the mobile service for the Ollie and it has worked out well so far over this summer. Both are pricey and I may have opted for the Mini had we not already purchased the Mobile service. It doesn't look like you can pause the Mini service though.

You may be asking for company! Love northern Minnesota, just as long as you can get the fish biting and NOT the mosquitos! We are very likely going to visit Chris' sister in Farmington MN sooner or later. They snowbird down here some winters. We would role that into a Badlands visit, Mt. Rushmore and more.

Hugo, you got a hook-up here too (not garaged). For us, perhaps 2025, or 2026 the latest! 🤣

Sounds like a plan. Always welcome! Although, I can guarantee that both the fish and the mosquitos will most likely bite!

Please translate.  Is it your TV with a class 5 hitch?  If so, that's serious good!

I had the dirt guy add class 5 fill to the side of the garage for an additional parking spot! It gets nice and rock hard for parking on and so vehicles won't sink into it. Although, I think I may have a class V hitch on my TV now that I think about it since it's a 2.5" receiver. I'll have to check...

  9. All good advice above! We bought our 2021 LE II off the FB Oliver Travel Trailer for Sale page. Drove from MN to TX to pick it up from a private buyer. It only had 900 miles of towing on it which I really liked and was stored inside. We were ready to sign a contract for a new one and had chosen all of the options we wanted when the pre-owned one with the exact same options we were looking for came up. I would say to really understand what you want to do with it so you can figure out what options are most important to you. Pre-owned ones come up on the FB page but they can go pretty quick and you may have to drive to get one. Of course, there's always the new options from a dealer that may be closer to you. Good luck on the hunt!

  10. jd1923, I did add class 5 to one side and will be adding a 30A receptacle for anyone that might visit. It's tough enough to get people to visit northern Minnesota anyhow though!

My friends barn where I park my OE2 is of the same construction design.  Even with lean-to wings on both long sides, the barn was showning high wind instability due to not having cross bracing.

    GJ

Interesting, GJ. I would think that with the OSB siding it would really stiffen it up. I haven't decided what I'm finishing the interior with yet but, I would imagine that would help too. We've had a few fairly strong storms lately and it hasn't even budged in the stage it's in now. I'll definitely have to consider some possible additional bracing though. Are your friend's walls 2x4 or 2x6?

  12. You may want to plan a night or two in Ely, MN. There are some nice campgrounds around there and you can always visit the Wolf Center and the Bear Center. The Soudan Underground Mine tour will take you about a 1/2 mile down for a unique tour. You may want to stop in Duluth and tour the lake freighter, the William A. Irvin. We usually take our out of town guests there and they love it. Some awesome state parks for hiking are along the way up the shore. Happy to answer any questions you may have since it's our home turf. Lots of other great ideas already given as well.

@Half Fast Hugo - Nicely done, Hugo!  Beefy and clean - always a couple of my design requirements.

Looking forward to seeing y'all again down the road - we've already got our rally site reserved for next year, FYI.  (OBTW:  Todd should have his chocks by now).

Magnus and Oscar send a big WOOF! to Bob & Cash...  HA!

    Cheers!

Thank you sir! As a recovering engineer I always try and have the same design requirements! They mentioned moving up the rally date which won't work for us, unfortunately. If they keep it the same, we're in. Safe travels!

  14. Well, the bike rack is finally done. Finished wiring it up yesterday and it's lit up pretty well. I ended up using the 1Up license plate holder which has it's own light and added the Curt lights on the back to give it a little more. I couldn't decide if I wanted to splice them together and keep one plug connector so I used a splitter after coming out of the thru hull in case I need to replace one or the other down the road. It comes on and off easy so if I'm not hauling the bikes it's two simple disconnects and the four pins. I'll end up replacing a couple of pins with locks at some point. I can sit on the farthest out rack and it's definitely solid. My heaviest bike is an eMTB at 39 pounds so shouldn't be any issues! Test run to Copper Harbor next week!

FYI: this message is coming to you via our kit running directly off our Battle Borns from the middle of TN somewhere!

    Roll-On, regardless...

That's awesome! We're packed up and ready to head south in the morning. This will be are first test of the SL on the road but I'm sure we'll have no issues. See ya!

That's an awesome drain design -- easier to keep the working area free of debris and generally a cleaner space.  Love it!

Yeah, I thought it should work pretty good. I have a drain in my attached garage which works really well when the cars melt off in the winter. Not sure how much I'll be going in and out of this one in the winter but, the drain was a do it now or don't do it at all decision just like the in-floor heat plumbing. So, I opted for both and am glad I did now after seeing it done.

I think it really depends upon how secure you want your bikes and what the weight capacity is of the rack. I'm not sure how that one actually attaches. My heaviest bike is an emtb that weighs 39 pounds and is well within the capacity of the rack I'm building. However, I love to see things overbuilt and I don't want a bike falling off going down the interstate. I've seen it happen and it does horrible things to carbon fiber frames! Bottom line is I wouldn't trust it with my bikes but that doesn't mean it won't work. There's lots of movement on the back end of a trailer.

Nice work! That's the route I originally wanted to go with my rack. But we wanted the option to move the rack to the truck, so went with the 2" conversion, instead.

Nice to be able to swap them out for sure. I already have two other racks that hold 3 and 6 bikes respectively and I don't want to put more than two on the back of the Ollie so this seemed like the most reasonable way to do it although not exactly cost effective!

Looking good. I totally agree with @MAX Burner Starlink is a game-changer. Based on second picture, your tow vehicle might need some attention before heading out! 🤪

LOL! My son was doing a brake job on his truck at my house. Thought that might get mentioned!

Did you convert yours to 12vDC?  Just curious...

Travel safe - see you at the rally!  Cheers!

Haven't converted to 12v yet. Ordered the hardware but probably won't have it before we head south. Works great so far but we have it at our house already as it was the best option for our rural location. Cheers!
