serge Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Hello, Looking for guidance with this recent issue we are having. The Zamp controller is doing all kinds of crazy things, all the lights will blink, then the screen may turn blank, then it shows that it is charging, then I have a code that it does not find the batteries, then it shows the battery are full. all of this within minutes. I have verified the connection to the batteries all is fine. Hence, as anyone had similar issues? And/or based on your experience could you provide me with the steps you would take to investigate the problem ( we are actually on the road). I suspect the issue is with the controller (my guess), rather then the solar panels. Anyone has experience in replacing the controller? Would it be complicated to replace? (I assume it would be simple). Greatly appreciate your support and looking forward for you input. PS: my batterie bank: Lithionics 2 X 315 Ah , Inverter Xantrex 3000w
Moderators topgun2 Posted May 12 Moderators Posted May 12 I have a different controller - but - have you checked the data connection in the back of the controller? Usually this is a simple "plug" that is similar to a telephone jack. I'd try to unplug and re-plug it to see if that helps. This has been a "problem" for many of these types of instruments usually because this connection either gets loose or dirty. serge Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 Thanks Bill, I will check that out and see if it solves the issue, will let you know.
serge Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 Unfortunately that is not the issue, my cables are screwed tight in the unit. Will continue to investigate. Thanks again for trying. Serge 1
johnwen Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Have you looked at the red shutoff switch next to the controller in the overhead bin? The wires going into it could be slightly loose. You'll probably have to remove the switch and the back cover to get to the connections. Good luck, John Oliver II #996 "Bessie", 2019 Silverado LTZ 5.3, Veterans https://wenandjohnsadventure.com/
serge Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 John, yes I did check on those and they are ok. I am checking with Zamp et they said could be a resetting breaker between the controller and batteries? Not sure how to check that. They also indicate it could be the controller, I measured the input and output directly on the controller and waiting a response back from Zamp 1
johnwen Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Just to rule them out I would take a look up top to make sure the solar panel connections are tight. Oliver II #996 "Bessie", 2019 Silverado LTZ 5.3, Veterans https://wenandjohnsadventure.com/
