  1. John,

We were at the factory mid April, Scott O. told us the target rate was 3 per week. We are scheduled to pick our #359 up 3rd week in July. Last I talked to Anita, they were extremely busy. Take that FWIW. But I wonder what the leading indicator is, seems plenty of unfilled jobs, plenty of $$ on the sidelines, and real estate is very strong... the end must be near, ha ha .

  2. Security is always an effort to prevent, knowing nothing is absolute. If a thief wants your stuff, and is resourceful enough, they will steal what they want. At some point, trying to prevent theft becomes more intrusive on your personal life, than the risk represents. Short of being present, and armed, I have usually just tried to be more preventative than the next guy, hoping the crooks take the path of least resistance. At the Guntersville event I looked at several of the security locks Oliver owners were using, I was impressed with the Gushill units, and will most likely purchase their products, with the best puck lock I can find.

Between that and my canine security guard, that will have to be enough. Common sense, preparation, and awareness have served me well for the last many, many years, from one end of the country to the other, I'll keep doing what's worked - so far.

On an aside, I never thought about the mischief that could happen while parked in route (say at a restaurant). The idea that some smarta** would undo my hitch latch, never occurred to me. I heard this warning Sunday, and will take measures to protect for such mischief. Perhaps we need some sort of human bug zapper protecting a 20 foot zone around the Ollie.

  3. As I'm still waiting for my current unit to roll of the production line, I have, like many, thought about a larger Ollie. I am sure there is a larger one in the design stages, and within a few years, will be available, given the current economy stays sound. As a smaller manufacturer Oliver must tread carefully as production increases and any new models are introduced. Their most important and valuable asset is their reputation for quality, design, and customer satisfaction. We have gone around and around with our decision to finally purchase an EII, and although the total cost with options is substantial, I am confident the value is there - for me. So much so, I am planning my future TV around my current TT choice and keeping in mind, any future offerings from Oliver. I don't plan on going bigger, but then again, 6 months ago, I wasn't planning on an Oliver!

  4. I can't agree more with Mfantich. I would preferred to have found a nice used Oliver, but at the prices they were asking, when you could find one for sale, it was usually close to that of a new one. So one built like I wanted was just slightly more $$ and on a percentage basis, not worth considering. Now as I await my build, I must admit I'm a little curious about the quality level I will see at delivery. I have 25 years in the manufacturing business, and fully understand variation, process and the like. It is a very hard thing to build perfect anything's, with repeatability . I know from experience, you must have process control, I'm certainly expecting the best, and have no doubt, anything not up to standards will be taken care of promptly. For the premium cost, premium product is expected. I will bring my checklist, and happily note everything is in order when we pick up the unit. So I am dreaming.....

    Have a great day all.

  5. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Composting head, for me anyways. Its not a big deal to me to empty the urine container. I would prefer that over all the trouble to empty with a hose and such. Once I have my OEII in hand, I'll take a look at the black tank and its possibilities. Probably just leave it alone for the interim.

  6. Thank You to all that have replied. One side benefit of this thread is I have finally accepted that my EII will probably have a normal tow weight approaching 6klbs. The height issue becomes somewhat moot, I'll tow with my current truck, or change TV later. Does give me reason to do a little work on the well used GMC. Thanks again.

  7. Thanks John, I fully understand that. I haven't decided on which vehicle I will use as a TV. I may use my 1500 GMC truck at first, and later sample my Transit van. If the van doesn't work out, I'll do something else. I regularly tow heavy loads with the truck, but it is not something I want to tow across the country, many times, (it has done that and more), the van would be perfect, but it will be at the upper end of the GVWR, and tow rating. So I'll experiment. It all depends on actual tongue weights and how the van sits, it has plenty of power/torque, and factory tow package. With the truck, it will be slight drop down, with the van, I'll need to go up a good bit. If it doesn't work out, I'll get something else, probably a GMC 2500 duramax, double cab. (My third and most expensive option) In the mean time, I'm gonna sample my van hooked to a 16' twin axle trailer, with my tractor loaded with a disk. Head to a scale, if it handles well, and see where I'm at. If it ever quits raining....

  8. Concerning a 2018 or so Elite II an anyone tell me the height in inches from ground level to top of hitch, with the unit at a level position. I have read several posts, most with competing information on this subject. I can figure out from there my ball height. With about four different trailers all with different weights, I'm, sure I've got something that will work. Thanks in advance.

  9. So, as I await the build and delivery of our E-II, I am mulling over a few ideas for improvement. With our selection of Nature’s Head Composting Toilet the black water tank becomes superfluous. Has anyone thought about repurposing it into a secondary water storage. (It will be untarnished - new) Seems plausible, will have to look closer after I have my unit in hand. I enjoy the many Ollie owners on the forum who posses a similar "I can make that better" gene. Having built 3 conversion vans, I appreciate the engineering and build of the Oliver but that doesn't stop my tinkering mind. There is always something to be improved. Ha, perfection is always an elusive mistress.

  10. Hello everyone,

After much um, - discussion - we have ordered an Elite II, should have it in mid June. Looking forward to the next chapter in our RVing life. Once you get over the premium pricing, the Oliver is by all accounts a cut above tt. Will enjoy meeting the family over the coming years.

    Take care,

Russell, Cindy and - Harley, our security system...
