1. I am going through my Oliver with a fine tooth comb since I picked it up last week and got it home. I could not get my 120 volt outlets to work as my previous post stated. The outlets would work with the generator on and with the inverter on but not when plugged into shore power. I checked the breakers and fuses and the called Oliver Service and left a message. Richie called me back. With him and Jason on the line, the problem was solved. My surge protector on the Oliver was throwing off a error code of E 02. That means the surge protector said there was an error (ground error) with the electrical source that I was plugged in to. I was plugged into a 3 prong outlet in my old barn. So, I grabbed my generator bonding plug out of my generator and plugged it into the barn outlet. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise! The surge protector in the Oliver suddenly said no error and the 120 volt outlets work like a charm. Being a rookie and a newbie to this RV thing, I am blessed to have Oliver Service helping me out. Now wonder what I will learn tomorrow. Thanks Richie and Jason!

  2. My 120v outlets and microwave do not work when hooked up to my shore power. I have taken the following steps to try to troubleshoot the problem. The outlets and microwave work when I turn the inverter on. They work when I have the generator running with inverter off. I have good power coming from my source outlet. I plugged a lamp in at the source outlet and at the surge protector. The lamp works. So, I know, I have good power going to the Oliver. I checked the breakers under the dinette. All good. I lifted the street side bed and reset the red button. I have reset the GFI receptacle. Still not working. Any suggestions? I called Oliver and left voice message. Any help would be appreciated in the meantime. Thanks!

  3. I will now answer my own question. On page 75 of the owners manual, it talks about the black tank flush port on the street side. This allows you to connect an outside water supply and rinse out the black tank. The manual states " you will need to open the inlet valve located under the front dinette access panel"

I could not find the valve. I called Richie in Service at Oliver. He said there is no longer a need to open the inlet valve so therefore it is not there anymore. He said it is a new change in the Oliver. I can now find something else to go learn about the Oliver.

  4. Trying to educate myself on my new Oliver that I picked up last week. I was trying to find the Black Tank Flush Inlet valve located under the front dinette access panel. I cannot find it. Either I am looking in the wrong place (probably) or it was failed to be placed in the line. I have attached a picture to where I am looking for the valve.

  5. So, I bough locally. It was a Honda EU2200i. I was looking at it this morning and seen that it has 2 (15 amp) outlets. Should I have bought the EU2200 Companion which has the 30 amp outlet and a 15 amp outlet? Yes, I know I can use a conversion plug with the EU2200i. However, with the EU 2200i Companion it would be a direct plug in to standard RV Power Cord. Since, I have not used it, I think, I can take it back if need be. Thanks in advance! Darryl

  6. I have a question about the ProWatt SW. I guess that I failed to ask the question or I have already forgotton the answer during delivery of 412 on December 10. So here it goes. In what circumstances, do I turn the ProWatt Inverter on? A previous post said the below.

"The inverter is a great option to have if you think you will be camping off-grid with the solar panel package and without shore power or even if you just want to pull over for a quick break to heat up something in the microwave while traveling to your next camping destination!" Jason Essary

So, does it stay off rest of the time?

  7. We definitely wanted to stay in the area one night so follow up questions can be ask in person if needed. We are grateful that we decided to stay to stay at Crockett State Park. This gave us the opportunity to drive an hour away to a very nice park that had very nice facilities. Campground 2 and site 102. The furnance works awesome. Chose to keep it winterize. Not able to check certain systems but right choice for us. It can be overwhelming and it was but we are newbies. There was not one issue that came up that this forum had not prepped me for. We are happy that Oliver owners are so helpful.

  8.
We arrived at the Mothership at 9:30 AM and departed at 3:15 with Oliver Hull Number 412. We drove to David Crockett State Park and got set up. Oliver picked up the tab for the site. It is a beautiful park. The campground host stopped by and made sure things were good. The Oliver was winterized when we picked it up and we decided to leave it that way while we camp the next couple of days. Oliver gave us a couple of camping location options and we are very happy that we chose the state park. After spending 150 nights in a tent last year, this is total comfort.

  9. Hi Tom and Holly,

We pick our Oliver up in 2 days (Dec 10). We come from similar backgrounds enjoying hiking and tent camping. This is our first RV and frankly we have lots of anxiety over pickup. It will be 20 degrees overnight on Monday. Did you camp for a day in the Hohenwald area?

    Thanks,

    Darryl and Kim

  10. Thanks for all the replies to my numerous questions. The ideas and advice that you share is very much appreciated. I am growing in knowledge daily. We are fortunate to live within 40 miles of numerous Amish and a Mennonite families. Attached is a picture of Day 1 of my new 30 by 30 building with (2) 12x12 doors. The Duramax 2500HD will park in one stall and the Oliver in another. The Amish Father and Son arrived at 7:30 AM and left at 4:00 PM. They worked non stop.

  11. Thanks for all the great input. I have a few additional questions below. I have chose to ask them here vice a PM and I hope that is OK with all.

GaryJona- Where did you purchase the (bra?) covering for the front of your Oliver?

BackofBeyond- Where did you get your mudflaps? Did you have to make any mods?

KountryKamper- What was the primary reason for buying the Lear XL Top over the other Leer models such as 100 XQ?

    Thanks!!

    Darryl

  12. Been shopping for Truck Cap for 2018 Siverado 2500HD. I have decided that I want to get a truck cap for my truck. I have ruled a tonneau out for personal reasons and was going to go with a truck cap. I have started researching Leer, ARE and Century. I realize that Century is owned by Leer. Also, I realize that I want a window that opens so I can clean the back window of my truck window easier. I have watch countless videos and have read many forums. After reading and watching, I was sold on Leer. I went to 3 dealers this past week in Evansville, Indiana. The Leer distributor does not carry any on premise. He seems to want to sell tires, wheels and brush guards and trick items for trucks and not want to deal with caps. The Century Distributor and ARE Distributor were awesome people. The ARE Distributor said that he use to carry Leer's but it was an issue at times dealing with Corporate on warranty issues. My gut tells me to go with ARE due to my comfortableness with the dealer with fixing any warranty issues if needed. I just want a cap that doesn't leak and looks good and serves its purpose. Any advice or input on Leer or ARE (quality)?

We pick our Oliver Elite II in December. Thanks in advance for your input. I truly admit I am a novice in the RV and Truck Cap world but so far I really love my 2500HD Duramax and this forum.

  13. I saw a hitch on a truck the other day made by B & W (tow and stow). When I got home, I researched it and liked what I read. It has multiple adjustments. I found out that this hitch is sold at 5 different dealership within a 50 mile radius of where I live. Does anyone use this hitch?

  14. My wife and I will take delivery of Hull 412 in December. Kim and I (Darryl) live in Western Kentucky on a 48 acre piece of ground. We spent 23 years in the military retiring in 2001. We then moved to Kentucky where I become a high school teacher. I retired from that gig in January 2017. We enjoy hiking and bicycling. We share our old farmhouse with our two Cairn Terriers. Toto on the Wizard of Oz was a Cairn Terrier. Their names are Izzy (13 years old) and Remy (12 weeks old). We have 4 grandchildren. Two are located in Wilmington, NC and two in Quantico, VA. We are excited about being a part of the Oliver Group. So far, the support we have received from this forum has been superb. This will be our first RV. We are just a tad tired of sleeping in a tent. Hope to meet many of you in the upcoming year! Darryl

  15. I received pictures from Oliver Travel Trailers today that shows the upgrade for the bicycle rack receiver hitch. The bicycle carrier is not included. I was told the upgrade would be $600. This is the first pictures that I have seen. We bought Hull number 412 Legacy Elite II. We pick it up in December.
