  1. Did my pre delivery for 431 yesterday (3/21/19) and asked about the 80 psi in the tires. the response I got was that was what the tire / rim supplier delivered them with. Guess that would be for maximum weight in the trailer. I asked them to bleed them down to 60 lbs as I didn't want the trailer "bouncing" along I 40 and I81 for 800 miles!
  2. Hohenwald bound 0 dark 30 Wednesday to pick up OLLIE ELITE #431. Delivery 3/21/19 AM! (ordered 10/4/2018).
  3. Welcome! I have been a narrow gauge fan for 45+ years! DRG, D&RGW, RGS, UINTAH, SUMPTER VALLEY, C&S, NCNG, SP, DSP&P, WSL, EBT, NCNG, SS&S, Low Country Swamp logging, Maine 2 footers,.....I could go on! Hope to ride the Colorado NG on my "walk about".
  4. Will do! it looks like 750 Miles each way. I'll post the results upon return. Spoke with Rodney at Oliver and he says #431 has a CURB WEIGHT of 3800 lbs +/- a few pounds. I don't expect any additional weight going in the trailer for the return trip (tanks empty; no moonshine!) and maybe 200 lbs for self and baggage (DOG) in the TV. I figure when I get on the road again post arrival in MD, Ollie may be at 4200 with "gotta have's"; (+400lbs) in the trailer ( added essentials) . But going forward traveling solo (+ 40lb dog, generator and misc.) onboard the GMC maybe 400 lbs add 440 lbs tongue weight "junk in the trunk"(added 400 lbs for Ollie)! I should be well below maximizing the "burden" on the GMC.
  5. Picking up Ollie #431 on Thursday 3/21/19. Will compare mileage to Hoenwald TN from Maryland...(looks like 81 South to 40 west) and the mileage towing back, should be interesting. I have consistently seen 31-32 hwy empty at a steady 70 mph. Hoping for perhaps 16? with the Legacy Elite in tow.
  6. Got a response from Oliver...Dry weight 3750; Tongue weight around 400lbs. Don't know where someone got the dry weight as 2500!? Taking the Truck! Hope my dog enjoys the 12 hour trip; each way!
  7. Thanks for the response. I saw somewhere a post that said the Oliver Elite "curb weight " was around 2500 lbs...very skeptical about that. I have an alternative TV of a Porsche Macan S. The factory (porsche) rates the max GVW at around 4500 lbs, Trying to decide which TV to use for a 700 mile trip; the Denali or the Macan. Post delivery the TV will be the GMC . Will probably use the Porsche as it is a lease vehicle and save the GMC for future adventures. Such a dilemma! However the GMC has built in engine braking and tow mode> HELP!
  8. New guy here. Picking up my Oliver Elite 3/21/2019. Looking for "curb weight" on the trailer and tongue weight so I can bring the right TV for the 1000 mile tow task. Thanks
  9. From what I read on this forum this is going to be a "Hardy" trailer!
  10. The factory called me about 3 weeks ago and said my Elite was ready ( about a month early) and did I want to pick it up. Being in the frozen tundra of Maryland with the final destination of upstate NY for the Ollie I said I would keep the 3/21/19 delivery date. I have an initial 750 mile drive plus another 320 to NY. I'll get to see how my TV a GMC canyon denali diesel does the job. Good luck with your drive to Vermont.
  11. Hello all! I am new to this forum, expecting to take delivery of my Legacy Elite on 3/21/19, Hull #431. I know the Elite II is the most popular model; can anyone tell me how many (approximately) Legacy Elite,s have left the nest? Is there is a link to a prior thread? Thanks
  12. Hello Gypseaheart: I recently purcased a 2019 GMC Canyon Denali 4X4 crew cab long box with the Duramax Diesel. My initial thought when I test drove was "its only 181 hp" however the 369lb ft of torque was the real draw. I have not yet had the opportunity to personally road test the GMC towing I am expecting delivery of my Oliver Elite (Hull #431) late March so the GMC will get its first towing road test of around 700 miles. My previous intended tow vehicle was a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. I did not think the Ridgeline would be up to the task if I decided later to upgrade to an Elite II. So far (1500 miles) combined driving I get 23+ mpg and just over 31 highway cruising at 70 mph. While not a "rocket ship" off the line acceleration is more than adequate. I am pleased with the trade up to the GMC. There are a lot of towing comparison tests on You Tube of the GMC diesel vs the Gas V6. Check out "2017 Chevy Colorado vs GMC Canyon Duramax Ike Gauntlet".
