Great site Stuart. I read all the ratings for the campgrounds that I've visited and I agree with them all. My favorite of all is Defeated Creek and I've been there many times. I guess that most of the COE campgrounds are similar, well kept, very pretty and nice big sites. My son and his family came in from Kansas and they just loved the place.. clean swimming, hiking, and I agree that the best time to be there is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday... The rest of the week is too crowded. Seniors are fortunate to be able to travel and stay on those days, and I'm one of them. -smile-

If you have never used Flickr before - it is a great site that makes it extremely easy for people and groups to share and comment on photos. Flickr is owned by Yahoo, so if you already have any sort of Yahoo ID you are already signed up for Flickr and you just don't know it. If not - signing up is easy and free.

 

 

I look forward to folks sharing pictures of all the places that they take their Olivers to. You can even geotag your photos so that they show up on a map.

I highly recommend that everyone that's planning to do any Interstate travel with their RV invest in a copy of the "The Next Exit" guide from Camping World, Amazon, or your favorite e-tailer - see http://www.thenextexit.com/ for more info.

 

This book tells you what all services are available at, oddly enough, the next exit and which ones are RV friendly in terms of canopy height, parking lot clearances, etc. Need fuel, food, a hospital, a mechanic, etc.? The book will tell you.

 

Ours paid for itself on our recent 1600 mile trip in piece of mind if nothing else. The RV-friendly information was especially worthwhile because our current TV+RV combo is over 50' long ...

Hi mountainborn,

 

No, I haven't tried the electronic version but I would expect it to be very helpful if you're inclined to having a laptop, Palm, or compatible device with you when you travel. Personally my wife and I each stare at 2 or 3 computers all day every day and the last thing that we want to do on vacation is take along *anything* that needs to be booted up!

 

That said, if you sign up for the on-line version (a year's subscription with unlimited downloads for the same price as a book) my understanding is that you could always download and print things out ahead of time for your intended route. This way you could have the hard copy available in your TV - that's another possibility if you didn't want to buy the book.

Good link, Doug ! Logged it into our favorites. Located a little volunteer spot, with full hookups, where we could snowbird for a couple of months. If it worked out. It's on a lake that has a reputation for jug fishin' them ol' flatheads. WooHoo !! Just think of it ! Spendin' th' Winter a' fishin', stead' o' cuttin' firewood !
