  1. The Oregon Fiberglass Rally is July 15-18, 2010 at Bullards Beach Campground in Bandon, OR. Last year there were three Olivers, hopefully, this year there will be more! Anyone interested in more information can go to http://www.fiberglassrv.com forum. Pam and Allen
  2. We tow with a Chevy Avalanche and get around 17 miles a gallon. We have to remind ourselves that we are pulling the trailer because it is easy to forget that it's there. We could have gone with something a little smaller but the comfort is great in the Avalanche. Good luck finding a tow vehicle and you will not go wrong with an Oliver.
  3. I keep the bathroom vent open and the bathroom window opened a crack. I leave all the cabinets and drawers open a bit. Last winter I left a small portable heater on low. I also placed some Dri-Z-Air in the trailer which absorbs moisture. We live near the coast so it is pretty damp most of the year. The trailer has remained nice and dry, with no condensation problems. This winter I'm going to try leaving the little heater off and see if the Dri-Z-Air can do the job without the heater. Can never go wrong buying an Oliver. Pam
  4. Your dream of being a future Oliver owner and living in it has made us want to take off on a long trip. Your thoughts on turning the bed around to give you move space makes sense and the 22' should be very comfortable for living in. We purchased a 17 foot Oliver last August, our first experience in RVing. We love it, although, we don't get to travel as often or as far as we would like we have no regrets being Oliver owners. They are all fiberglass on an alumimum frame. They are built to last forever. Enjoy the forum, we learn alot from it and enjoy hearing about other owner's adventures. Pam and Allen
  5. After looking closer we do have a slight camber in our axle. I am wondering if the problem isn't the GVWR/Axle Rating. The original brochure (July 2008) we received stated that the GVWR/Axle Rating was 3500 lbs. The specs located on the side of our Oliver states GVWR 1814 (KG (4000 lb) and GAWR ALL 1814 KG (4000 lb) per axle with 15 TIRE 15x6J RIM. (I'm going to crawl under the trailer at some point and see if I can find the rating on the axle, so I'll know for use.) The new specs on their website state the axle is 5200 lb. Our trailer weighs 3700 loaded (tanks empty). I'm wondering if the trailers having problems didn't have the 3500 lb. axles on them or even the 4000 lb axles. It wouldn't take much for someone going on a long road trip to load their trailer over 4000 lb. Only a thought....I'm new to all of this but I'm going to pay attention to how much I load in the trailer and hope that if their is a problem down the road due to the axle that Oliver will deal with it even though my warrenty is up. I can only assume that Oliver now puts the 5200 lb axle on the trailers because they realized the 3500 or 4000 lb axle wasn't adequate. Regardless still love our Oliver and would recommend it to anyone trailer looking. Pam
  6. How many miles did you have on your Oliver's before you noticed a problem with the axle? I only ask because I have #34 and noticed that axles have been replaced on #33 and #38, not sure what number DCKiefer has. We have under 2,000 miles on ours and the tires look fine with no wear although they have some odd dents in them. The axle looks straight. I'm a bet concerned because our warranty is up this month. Thanks, Pam
  7. Thanks for your response Chuck and Geri and congratulations on your future wedding. We have never heard of a Extreme Vent, would be interested in how it is installed when you do it and hopefully some pictures. Pam and Allen
  8. Thanks for your reply Herm. I think I will start using the TST. Walmart carries it in our area. And I think you are right it can't hurt to add the straight coconut oil on occasion. Pam and Allen
  9. Just returned from the Fiberglass Rally at Bullard's Beach in Oregon. We were delighted to meet two other Oliver owners, Elizabeth & Steve and Shirley & Jerry. It was great meeting them and talking to them about their Oliver's. It is nice to see that the Oliver's dream of a quality trailer is making our dreams come true. Pam and Allen
  10. Being new to the world of RVing, I am unsure about which Holding Tank Treatment is best. I am currently using Oxy-Kem drop in paks. It seems to work well but I have not added any slide valve lubricant as recommended in the manual. I noticed that one brand of holding tank treatment has a lubricant included. Would this be the best to use or would separate products be best? Thanks for any help from all you experienced campers! Pam
  11. Sorry to hear about your tire problems. We have Goodyear's on ours....don't know if they were the default ones or upgraded. We have recently noticed that they have indentions in them that we are concerned about and need to get them checked. On a lighter note we also recently noticed on spare tire cover that the Oliver webside is spelled incorrectly and I'm wondering if we are the only ones. It's spelled "olivertravelrrailers". We got a kick out of it because we had Jim Oliver sign his name just below that and none of us noticed the two rr's. If I knew how to add a picture I would have included a picture of it. Pam
  12. They just had to pull the refrig out from the inside to replace the part. I called Dometic this morning and they said they only authorize a half hour for the work. I doubt that it took over a half hour even though they pulled it out from the inside. They put it back in terrible and not secure and when I pointed it out to them they pulled out a screw driver, took out four screws pulled the refrig partially out then straightened it out and resecured it all in less than five minutes. I live in a rural area and there is one place in town for RV repairs but everyone says don't go there so we had to drive three hours and stay the night to get this fixed. I guess if it happens again it will be cheaper for us to buy the part and replace it ourselves. It's just too bad that other RV businesses aren't like the Olivers who believe in customer service. Thanks for your response.
  13. After only using our refrigerator less than a dozen times a heating element burned out. Even though it is still covered for parts and labor under the warranty we had to pay for half of the labor which was $45.00. The reason given was that the refrigerator is hard to get to and had to be pulled out for the part to be replaced and that Dometic would not pay for the extra work. I find this odd but being a first time RV owner, what do I know. Has anyone else out there had this problem with warranty work on the appliances?
  14. Looking forward to the outing and meeting you. Been playing in the Oliver all morning, moving things around, adding and taking away things. We love it! See you next month. Pam and Allen
  15. Steve, Thanks for your response. You are right, the park is booked so I'll go to the Molded Fiberglass RV Forum and see if they can help us. Even if we don't get a spot at the park we plan on coming that way even if it is for the day. Allen and I look forward to meeting you and Elizabeth. Pam
  16. Better late than never with a response. We are Oliver owners and live in Crescent City, CA, which is on the border of Oregon along the coast. We feel in love with the Oliver after seeing them last year in Bandon, OR and by August had purchased one. Our trips have been limited to local campgrounds as we have too many pets to go far for very long. We are interested in taking our "Olie" to Bandon this year and look forward to meeting other Oliver owners. Not sure who to contact to make reservations. Am unfamiliar with just how this whole forum thing works but I'll work at it. Pam
  17. The Somera's couldn't be happier with their new Oliver! This is our first experience with a trailer (and with a forum) and it couldn't be anymore user friendly than it is. The remarkable thing about this whole experience of purchasing the Oliver is the people who guide you through the process. We saw the Oliver for the first time on July 19th in Bandon, OR where we were fortunate enough to met Jim and Evon Oliver and Pam and David Roach. Once we made the decision to purchase an Oliver, they worked with us and delivered the Oliver to California where we were again fortunate enough to have those four wonderful people spend four hours with us going over everything. Jim went out of his way to make sure our hitch was correct and even replaced it because it was too low. He made sure we had water and propane and saw us off for our first night in our Oliver. Not only have we purchased a fantastic little trailer, we have also made four new friends. Also, thanks to Robert back at the factory who got our Oliver out to us so soon. This whole experience has been wonderful. Once I figure out this whole forum thing I'll include pictures. Pam Somera
