  1. We had thought about jacking it up so the tires were off the ground but were afraid it would hurt the jacks. I'm glad to hear that it how you store yours and won't be afraid to try it now. Thanks, Pam
  2. Looks like our 17' Oliver will be located between two new 22' Oliver's. Nice to have more company on the West coast. Welcome! We are located in Crescent City, CA and unfortunately at this time have been unable to travel due to aging parents and aging non-traveling pets. We put up a very inexpensive carport from Ace Canopy which provides enough protection from the elements for our area. We keep it plugged in all the time and keep a little inexpensive dehumidifier in it year around. The first year we kept the refrigerator on all the time but we stopped doing that. Since we are unable to travel right now we turn on the stove and propane heater once a month, along with the refrigerator, check the batteries, and left it up and spin the tires to a new location. We haven't waxed it in a year because it hasn't been out but it still looks like new; spring wax job coming up. Welcome again to the Oliver family. Pam and Allen
  3. Thank you to whoever got the Oliver Forum back up. It has a lot of valuable information and it would be missed. Thank you, Pam
  4. I had to pull out my file on the Oliver to see exactly what we had done. We have a Dometic and it was the heating unit they had to replace not the cooling like I thought. They pulled it out in the aisle to work on it but then failed to put it back in correctly and it shifted almost all the way out before we were even got out of the lot. They had charged extra because they said it was more work for the labor, although I fail to see how. I hate to admit that we have less than 6,000 miles on our Oliver because of elderly parents and pets making it difficult to travel. We have done all our camping locally so we can get home quickly if needed. We have considered selling it but then we have hopes of being able to take off across country in the future. Good luck and let us know if you replace it and how it goes. Pam
  5. Thanks. Not looking forward to ever having to replace the refrig. We live in a rural area where quality work on anything is hard to come by. I only know of one place where I would trust them to take out a wall and replace it and Tennessee is just too far away. Pam
  6. We had problems with our refrig when it was first new and it turned out to be the cooling unit. They couldn't get access to it from outside so they had to pull it out in the trailer to fix it. Even though it was under warranty they charged us an extra $100 over what warranty paid because of that. Oliver's covered that expense because we hadn't even had the trailer for more than a few months and had only used it a few times. You gotta love the Oliver's and all those associated with their company. They do care. Has anyone had to replace their refrig yet? I've heard that you have to take part of a wall out to get it out, is that true? Pam
  7. Thank you for posting that. I had thought for some reason that they did tubs for RVs only. Pretty impressive. I am also happy to hear that they still have a passion for Oliver trailers and want to get more of them out there. Pam
  8. We tow with a 2008 Chevy Avalanche and get 18 miles per gallon. The Avalanche seems like over kill but we are happy with the mileage and comfort of towing. Pam
  9. Thanks for the website. I have cooked a few items in my Sylvania and I love it and look forward to trying a few new recipes now. Ours didn't come with a Owners Manual but I finally was able to print a copy off from the internet. Without that I was totally at a loss. Happy cooking. Pam
  10. Your photos are beautiful. Thank you for sharing them with us. Glad you are enjoying your Oliver. It looks like it is the perfect little trailer for your travels. Pam
  11. We are fortunate that the Oliver forum is still active. It has a wealth of information for all of us. It has provided us with valuable information in maintaining and improving our Oliver. Couldn't agree with you more that RV people are some of the nicest people in the world. Pam and Allen
  12. Pete, I am jealous to see you have so many miles of fun on Wonder Egg. I image Sherry is close to that many miles of fun also along with Steve. Unfortunately, we only have 1200 miles on ours due to life getting in the way. Between aging parents and pets it's hard to get away, but we look forward to getting miles on our Oliver in the future. We enjoy reading the forum and it keeps us informed on future fix it issues and the beautiful places everyone is visiting. Have a great summer and enjoy your many trips. Pam and Allen
  13. Thank you Sherry for providing the information. Glad you got it up and running. My biggest fear is having to replace the refrig because from what I have heard you have to take out the bathroom wall. Pam
  14. Thanks for posting that Sherry. That's pretty cool.....going to have to try that this summer. Pam
  15. Thanks Sherry, I'm going to order at least one for the Oliver. Pam
  16. Thanks for sharing the information. They look perfect for saving water. After looking at them I'm not sure which to get for the trailer. Which one did you put in the Oliver? Thanks, Pam
  17. Happy New year, wishing everyone a happy, healthy year with lots of adventures camping! Pam and Allen
  18. Merry Christmas! Had family for Thanksgiving (we are a full days drive from family) but it will be a quiet Christmas as we are watching friends pets so they can get away. Love to drive around and see the decorations. Hope everyone has great holidays! Pam and Allen
  19. When the trailer isn't in use, which sadly is more often than not, I leave the bathroom and closet doors open. I also leave the cabinets open on each end for air to circulate. In the winter months I leave a small electric heater on low and have a Dri-Z Air which seems to take care of mildew and musty odors. We have the mult-cabinet configuration and I like having the extra shelves. Usually our trips are less than a week so we mainly have just levy's and T-shirts so the closet space hasn't been an issue but I know what you mean about the wrinkles. We had extra hooks installed on the walls so we hang our jackets on those. When camping I tend to leave the closet door and bathroom doors opened when we aren't in the trailer. Seems to help. Happy Camping, Pam
  20. Virginia is too far away for us at this point in time, but it sounds like it would be a wonderful trip. Love it if you post pictures if you head that way. Pam
  21. Sounds like a nice RV park and a great location for getting into DC, thanks for sharing the information.
  22. On the 14th my daughter called me from Oregon while traveling down Interstate 5 and told me she was passing an Oliver being towed by a Tahoe with Washington license plates. I get really excited when one is spotted because there are so few Oliver's on the west coast. Hope whoever it is has a great vacation. Pam
  23. Thanks for sharing what happened. It's a great reminder to not go over 55. Hard to do sometimes because it's easy to forget you even have those trailers behind you, they pull so nicely. Pam
  24. I can't remember who told me the wall had to be removed if we put in a new refrig but I'm not looking forward to that day if that's the case. We had the screws on the right side of the battery tray fail....they weren't screwed into any thing but the fiberglass. One of the screws also broke which we pushed through and put in plastic wall anchors and screwed into those. They seem to be holding for now. Think it's probably to hard to get to in the refrig area to try that. Hope you find a fix that isn't too costly and please let us know the fix-it. Pam
