  1. Hi Paul, We will have ours there the 1st thru 8th of April. My girl friend has some medical appt's so we may be longer. SeaDawg shud also be there for some of that time, you could get TWO Olivers showings for the price of ONE!!! Plse PM me and we'll exchange cellphone #'s and set up a date/time though 2nd or 3rd or 6th or 7th would probably be best. Regards, Chuck
  2. Hi Mountainborn! Currently using DeLorme in my laptop so these feeble ole eyeballs can see it but rely on the spoken directions more but have had to use the visual on quite a few occasions. It, and all the other GPS's, will occasionally give you misdirection, espescially if a long bridge or overhead trees block view of satellite!! We went around in a triangle for 1/2an hour in the backwoods of Alabama because of this!! Geri dislikes Intestates terribly so we take a lot of secondary and thirdary roads. High per cent are on deLorme!
  3. Sonora Caverns and Campground in Sonora TX about 15 miles off I-10. The campground is good but the attraction is the Cavern itself. This is a private campground as are the caverns and they give a GREAT tour..about 2 hrs and the groups are small, max 6, and the guides are VERY knowledgeable! Only overnighted but will go back to see again, absolutely fascinating! Univ of Texas finding cancer fighting ingredients in some of the deposits!! Chuck
  4. Hi Lisa, Looking for extra strength also that the urethane epoxy might/would give the door. Have ya'll done any LED bulb changing in your halogen lights? If so, do you know the bulb size or an LED supplier??. Used LEDs very successfully in my Casita! Regards!! Chuck
  5. I never had fried catfish but Geri forced some on me.....MMMMMGOOOOOOOOD!!!! Now the noodling is for the avid catfisherperson ( being ex Californian must be politically correct and Butcherknife still worries me a bit... ) I think I'll stay with the ole rod n reel method or maybe the jug method if quantity becomes important. FYI, as a teenager on Long Island Sound, I used to supplement my clamming income by 'sharking' with 40-55 gallon oil drums vs plastic jugs and rancid bacon. Ifn I'da only known how good shark was then... Chuck
  6. I WAS THINKING OF TAKING SHOWER DOOR OFF, LAYING FLAT AND POURING VARATHANE ON THE BACK LIKE A TABLETOP! COMMENTS, Please!! Chuck
  7. Thanx for posting the pix!!!! How does the Rubicon pull/handle the Oliver? Your area is beautiful, hope to be through there with enough time to stop this fall. Regards, Chuck
  8. Hi Pete and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! If you're at TT/Naco and sounds like you are, b'fast is excellent! Glad everything is working well! Have fun and keep us posted!!!! You're headed to BlueBonnet?? Chuck
  9. W O W !!!! What an OFFER!!! Of course, Earthdancer and I will give our assistance to this historic event. Never having had the pleasure of catching, cleaning, cooking or consuming catfish, I would have to check to possibly Mountainborn on the preperation OR arrange for a possibly historic 1ST ever Oliver non sanctioned catfishing expedition to Arkansas for catfishing lessons. My forte has always been steaks of the cow or pork variety which if above expedition is not successful, can always be a fall back! And, of course, Earthdancer would be the official photographer! This coming together!!!!!
  10. And Aaaarnoold happens to the Guvanator of my past home, CA and you don't want that name.... my vote goes for Olivia as in Newton-John, a great song bird!
  11. Ya'll know that earthdancer n tumblweed will be there with bells on and 3 dogs, patio lights, balloons and party hats. Any canoeists or kayakers out there, BRING 'EM! Hikers, bring yer BOOTS! Fun will be had by ALL!
  12. The Very First Ever Non Factory Santioned Oliver Travel Trailer Rally was held at Withlacochee River County Park, Dade City, Florida on March 16-17, 2008. This historic occasion was attended by SeaDawg, Earthdancer and Tumbleweed. The Olivers performed magnificently, of course, with their owners teaching each the things that they'd forgotten since the factory orientation, comparing and several single spaced pages of suggestions! The first ever Oliver Owners BBQ was held with Hot Dogs, T-Bone steaks, beans, brocolli slaw, beer and wine. A gooooood time was had by all! The park has electric and water hookups, some 30 amp, mostly 20 amp but pulled the A/C just fine. A reconstructed Creek Indian village and early cracker houses with church and trading post are close to the camping area. Also in the park are some great hiking and biking paths, canoeing launch area and a river walk. And it's $5.00 a night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The official Rally Photographer, Earthdancer, will post pictures soon.
  13. Try to secure the generator without incorporating the HANDLE. The handle is easily cut with a bolt cutter(not sure on 3000 but 2400 & 2800 and Honda 1000-3000 have been stolen by 2 cuts of the handle at Quatzsite and chain still locked together!!! Chuck
  14. Pete, Beautiful choice. Nuff said. tumbleweed
  15. A job that good is worth the wait! That fella' is GOOD!!!! Using aluminum? Locking capability? Do you have the gen quick connect kit? Ventilation and exhaust thru the bottom? Can open pictures be taken and displayed? Is the welder open to doing other gen boxes? Like my Honda 2000?????? Can't think of a better excuse to get up there to meet ya'll. Gotta learn about catching n eating catfish!!!!! N I guess cleanin' 'em too..... Regards, Chuck
  16. Quite a few of the Texas rest areas and welcome centers have nice strong wifi hot spots. Mickey D and motels are coding their signals now so ya can't jump on for free and to protect their customers from hackers. Using my Sierra AirCard and AT&T and it's working pretty well except for some reason it locks up computer. Looking into the portable version of bugydrivers tween shell mounted amplifier also. Chuck
  17. Mountainborn, would have liked to have known your grandmother ! Welcome home, brother. Butcherknife, a painful way to earn a cool handle! Earthdancer, you know I love your moniker and your pictures! Mine was horsefolk on other forums as my late wife and I had and raised Quarter Horses for almost 20 years. With her passing and the gift of our last horse to her 2 daughters, I could become what I wanted to be, a tumbleweed. Yahoo just wouldn't let me spell it the way it's usually spelled!
  18. Glad the cell amplifier works, I'm looking at the portable model of it! Thanks for posting the info!! Chuck
  19. Again Hi Tom! I'm a member of Passport America and very happy with them. Have stayed at some very nice parks(see my Campgrounds response to you, they're a Passport America park.) because of them. I am also an Escapees Club member and while limited in # of parks, benefits are many. Chuck
  20. Hi Tom! Across the Mississippi River in Vidalia, La is River View RV Park and Resort. VERY nice. Stayed there 3 times as an overnite park but will stay there longer next visit! Sites 103 and up have view of river view. Nice walk on bluff overlooking river, great for dogs, lots of room! Wifi OK near office(which has nice small store} but further away gets weak quick but lounge area is comfortable, I just brought the laptop in. Lotsa' folk were using it as base for exploring Natchez and staff is knowledgable and courteous! Chuck
  21. Could only post 2 pictures at a time, so one more of the Thousand Trails/ NACO campground on our maiden voyage!
  22. Hi All, A couple of pix of pickup and trip home for "Ollie".
  23. Hi Angler, Let me know if you need any particulars. Chuck
  24. Hi Pete! Started the Honda on gas, found out I didn't like to carry gas so bought a conversion kit and had my local independent propanr dealer convert it. I got the Honda 2000 based on weight and could run A/C.
  25. Hi Pete, I got the generator quick connect on "Ollie" and my Honda 2000 already converted to propane so will tap tanks direct when I get my gen tongue mount. Glad Robert talked me into the furnace as we used it in Tenn and is quieter than the Casita! Still gonna keep the the Little Buddy Catalytic heater for boondocking. Chuck
