One of the "downsides" to having a logo on the front is that bugs are more difficult to remove from the decals as compared to removing them directly from the fiberglass.  This difficulty is slightly reduced by keeping a good coat of wax on that front logo.

I've heard that beginning next year all new Olivers will come without stripes of any kind on the sides.  The factory will make available the current graphics in the event a customer wishes to have the stripes produced by an outside vendor.  Only the front and rear logos plus the lettering on each side will be standard as will the "Oliver" on the "third brake light" at the rear.

A little discouraging a lot of items being deleted from the builds Stripes , electrical outlets fabric and counter choices.  I thought what most appealed to the customer was the flexibility to make a custom Oliver. I guess these changes need to be done to boost productivity and profit.

  2. Unfortunately the master key for all door latches is the large crow bar that can gain access to any rv door. Unlike your door at home with a stronger frame. But still can be defeated.  The Oliver has a aluminum frame around fiberglass. I like the keypad option. I have the standard lock handle  doesn’t cost extra and does the same amount of security for the door.

  3. Ive been trying to go over the pros and cons for both toilets. This is my personal pros and cons on both. The only disadvantage is I never owned a composting  toilet to make a true evaluation.

The regular toilet I never had  any problems with.  Pros: Poop pee flush done. Tank is full hook up to the dump station attach hose pull the lever use the tank flusher then rinse out hose. Never had a mess  yet. I guess doing it the same way for years makes it seem easy for me.  These aren’t cons for me.  But if they  were they would be, finding a dump station  which I never had a problem with and using extra water.

Composting toilet, again I never owned one just my thoughts. Pros: environmentally  friendly and no water usage. Cons: Pee tank empty often, you have to be a good shot. I don’t know how women manage sorry. Carry vinegar with you to help with pee smell. Main dump add composting material then turn the crank frank after each dump. And as mentioned above diarrhea or vomit  cleaning the mess on the bowl because of no water to rinse doesn’t seem to be a pro or con just nasty.  After all that you still have to dump the composting material and clean the holding compartment. The last Con what happens if the blower quits and a replacement isn’t available for several days. Buy a lot of fabreez spray?  Even though I trashed the compositing  toilet I would still own one for a remote cabin where a septic system was not available.  Just not for an Rv.

Landrover's mod has been high on my mod list since the day I brought ILOVHER home.  Imitation is a genuine form of flattery they say!

I have a sewer clean out near my driveway and I really wanted to be able to run grey into it while keeping the door shut and locked.  I have a few tools/cords that I don't want to walk off.  Keeping the door open while raining also seems counterintuitive.  I admit to showering in the trailer and driveway camp as we get frequent power outages here.

Something that I was worried about was exact measuring.  I came up with an idea to use a pencil eraser super glued to the middle of the handle.  I added bit of chalk line chalk to hit the inside of the door to find center.  I'm happy to say it worked well!   Attached are the photos of my progress.  I'm a girl and these kind of things freak me out a little but I'm happy to say everything worked out perfect!  I used butyl tape around the marine fitting and stainless screws and nylocks nuts.  I decided to paint the handle silver as well since the shortening and grinding of the handle (with a Dremel) made it look ugly.  I'm really pleased with this mod.. THANK You Landrover!

  5. My wife and I use a foam covered wedge found at camping world. We use it at the head of the bed so we’re not laying flat. Then  use it at the foot of the bed,  it serves as a good back rest while sitting up in bed watching tv or reading.

We may or may not get into Canada August 9, the border employees there are talking about a strike, but for sure we are not taking the Ollie on the Dempster, this is pretty amazing, the guy has more nerve than me to tow a Casita with a poorly prepped Jeep Liberty, in inclement weather. Here is the Dempster:

Here he is tossing buckets of water from a stream so he can get in…..

Rough Road Ahead: My Yukon Challenge

The condition of the two lane highway under construction, at the beginning of the video, is mind boggling. I would have u-turned and gone back, unless the Ollie was not in tow, in which case I would have proceeded, with fingers crossed and butt clenched.

    Enjoy,

Well it didnt take long for me to figure this out either. I just spoke with Jason over at Oliver and he balked at that price as well. He said many customers have called asking about the cremaic / marine coat and he reccomends it if I can afford it. He said he has never heard of anyone paying that high. 2,500 was the highest he heard of.... the lowest price he heard was $750.

He is kindly going to get me in touch with some possible connections here in Louisiana to get that job done.

    Thanks for the advice!

If you check out any  Rv mobile detailer. Last I checked in Florida the going rate was $10.00 per foot wash and wax.

We’ve been working our way from San Antonio to Maine since early July, stopping at state parks, COE parks and HH locations.  We recently stayed at a Winery/Farm in Rhode Island, Leyden Farms, a HH location.  Their wine is good, the outdoor event area is great and they have really paid attention to where their HH guests park.  A great location!

I'm following this topic with interest.   I wouldn't have chosen a 3-way... My investigations and reading of countless posts... it seems the 3 ways are just another source of "trouble".   Todays modern "two ways" have just gotten so efficient and with the 340watt solar panels it seems to me a no brainer...  but alas, it's all that's available with an Ollie and I recognize that everything has its own learning curve and I this is no different.  So with that said:

~Am I going to be running it on propane even while driving (some seem to frown on doing this) if I like my food/coke/beer COLD?

~and yes I'll be putting warm cans in there and I expect it to make them ice cold.  Reasonable?

~Will the freezer keep ice cream hard?

~about how much propane does this thing consume?  (I upgraded to the two 30lb propane bottles)

~I like things cold.... so am I going to be happy with this or is it going to be more like a cooler with ice?

(we are waiting for our build.... so I have nothing left to do but worry   🙂 )

I always travel with the refrig  on propane.  The only risk of this is different state laws mostly states with bridges and long tunnels.  Some are clearly marked and some have detours others don’t have anything until  you see the flashing lights behind you because you have  propane  on board and you disobey the signs. All the years I’ve traveled with the propane on  I never had a problem. But these days never say never. 😳

You have to discount the $8500 by the cost of upgrade from lead-acid to AGM, less the price difference between 2000w and 3000w inverter.  I don't know the current costs; yes, I'm a retired bean counter 😁

Sorry folks I have to chuckle about this post,  kinda crazy.  Big tech battery’s  big bucks configure and reconfigure now you have to take out the battery’s because they get too hot? I like my generator better. Camping fun at its best  i guess this is the new enjoyment of camping. I’ll stick with a good book  fishing nice fire and a couple of beers. To technical for me. 🤯😜

I received a promotional email from RVLock regarding their soon to be released Bluetooth Pro upgrade that will allow locking/unlocking the electronic RVLock with a phone app.   Supposed to be backward compatible with any existing RVLock electronic locks.  Looks interesting, and will still allow use of the keypad or key as a backup.   I might wait a while though till they work out the early bugs.   And it does state that it uses a DC power adapter.  Who wants to go first?

It’s true.. there is a lack of East /West routes across northern New England.. if you want highway driving you’d have to go back down to Portsmouth NH, then head north into NH or VT.

if county roads are what your looking for…get yourself to Augusta, then work your way to RT 2.. this gets you through the western part of the state, into the White Mts of NH and over to VT.. very very pretty drive, and a good cross sectional view of this part of the country IMHO…

Many years ago we tried to run old route 1 from Maine along the East Coast south to Florida most of it has been rerouted and not easy to follow, like Route 66 it had some nice areas to travel. May be now with GPS it might be a better trek.

  14. While stoped at a Bass Pro Shop. A couple asked to see my Oliver Elite II  they pulled along side of me. They were towing a TAB 400 boondock addition with  a ford ranger newer model. They were impressed by the Oliver, and I was very impressed with the Tab 400 I believe its mfg by Nu Camp. The tab is a little smaller than Ollie 1 and much lighter but the build quality looked great. This couple was going to look at the Ollie 1 but thought it might be a little to much for there vehicle.  Once they out lived the Tab they would consider a larger TV with The Elite II  just another option to look at,

  15. Has anyone seen The Dometic  RTX 2000 12volt ac unit? Any thoughts reviews I watched some You tube on them not much info just on installation. Although checking the price $2.700  yikes.

Has anyone tried a solar bug zapper, like this one from Lowe's?

Certainly priced right, but wondering about effectiveness.

Even though it's still dropping down into the 50s at night here in our part of wnc, bug season is coming.

No chemicals,  and no power draw, would indeed be a nice thing, if it works....

You tube it I’m sure someone has reviewed it by now.

please disregard last question.  I found another hitch with a 2" ball that measures 23"off the ground. Hopefully that will work or the folks at Oliver will head me in the right direction when we go to pick up our new Elite

Right down the road from the plant. Tractor supply they will have what you need.

  18. I always get notifications from the web site Roadtrippers. They have planed trips that expand across the country with stops along the way campgrounds places to visit. I personally have not done this but some of the trip planing looks very interesting. When the wife and I made a cross country trip there was no real planning head west back east down south. Most of the scenic ventures were by word of mouth, by the locals or by people you meet at the campgrounds. What ever way you do it its all good.

In preparation for delivery of our LEII in January, 2022, I have been researching many accessories I expect we will need, including generators.  I have seen many recommendation of the Honda 2000/2200 watt generators and acknowledge their reputation for reliability, durability and quiet operation.  I also see the appeal of running a generator on propane to avoid the hazard of hauling gasoline and maintenance issues associated with gumming in the carburetor.  The dual fuel generators, such as the  from 2500 watt Champion, look very appealing, especially since they cost ~$575, with no conversion kit required and a 3 year warranty.  I acknowledge they are not as quiet as the Honda generators.  I have read a number of favorable reviews of the Champion generators, including by Oliver owners here on the forum.

However, the cost comparison is heavily in favor of the 2500 watt Champion.  A Honda 2200i costs at least $1050, plus ~$270 for a propane conversion kit, for a total of about $1320, and the loss of the Honda warranty.  I acknowledge the Champion does not have the long reputation of the Honda, but I could buy two of the 2500 watt Champion generators and still be ahead $170.  I could also purchase two of the 2500 watt Champions AND the parallel kit be ahead approximately $100 versus the Honda 2200i + propane conversion kit.  Having two of the 2500 watt Champions and the parallel kit could also provide backup for critical residential loads during power outages.  I live in Dallas, TX.  I expect to see MORE power outages over the next few years.

Can someone provide a compelling argument why I should buy a Honda generator and a propane conversion kit?

I will put my Champion duel fuel gen up against the honda all day. 5 plus years  several hurricanes running 24/7 for more than a week.  If I purchase another champion to replace this one I’m still head of the game by several years and$$$.
