OK -  I fully understand - The rally is just a bunch of Oliver owners setting up shop in a common camp ground - amidst an improving Covid 19 precautionary atmosphere.  It  seems to me - Given - reasonable safety precautions - we could hold a few informal/formal topic specific get togethers - for those folks comfortable following the distancing and masking guidelines.

There are plenty of open air places to have such a gathering - weather permitting -  where such topics as  - Oliver specific question and answer session - may be valuable to some.  It appears we will have a good number of experienced owners in attendance who may be in a position to share their knowledge.

If there is any interest in this or any other topic - please post your thoughts here.

We are all adults - we can manage our risk accordingly. If you feel differently  - fine - my comments are simply to understand any interests over and above the camping experience.

What gets me when they had the non rally rally  a short time ago in the middle of every thing  Scott Oliver was there showing off the new Ollie. They had several get togethers one was a QA  for newbies with Scott Oliver at the main club house.  Seemed like a rally to me.  May not have been  a full blown rally as in the past but still a rally.

    Clumsy ?

Let me explain a different way.......

My old suitcase Coleman stoves are white gas only. To convert them to propane the Stansport propane converter is required.

Once converted, the high pressure hose runs from the stove to the propane tank.

The connection to the tank is to the "Y" connector....similar to what I see in Landrover's pic.

One three point connector and one hose to the stove or any other appliance that has it's own regulator.

Another good setup. The only problem with this is you have to disconnect and reconnect the tee to the propane tank every time. Unless you have a separate propane tank.

Speaking of fiber granite, now that Oliver has reduced the color options, what are the chances that any of us with discontinued colors could get a replacement for a damaged piece later down the road?

🧐 I believe by law they have to keep certain parts available in inventory  for several years. At least that is how the auto industry is.  Not sure if a small mfg, like Oliver has to adhere to the same.

I can't measure right now as our 2018 Elite I is currently in winter storage. Looking at a couple of photos from 2019, it looks (at least from the angle taken) that we have a bit more clearance than the 1/2" described above, but not a lot. There is some evidence of minor "bottoming out" events visible. Over time we have become better at anticipating such events and adjusting speed and trailer positioning relative to obstructions accordingly.

Any one have a GoPro to put under there to see  how much the springs flex while traveling?

  5. A simple theft deterrent for us is to break down camp and put every thing away if we are going to leave for some time. Some will argue that it makes it more inviting for theft.  It has been in my experience that if your in the area were there is other campers and they see your camp stored away they will pay more attention to your camp while your gone. For us it is important to at least say hello to fellow campers, most campers will look out for each other. It has worked well for us. Then again we are in changing times.

We just joined Harvest Hosts this morning. We used discount code MARCH which dropped the annual membership to a one time new member price of $67.15. The regular price is $79 annually. It will be interesting to see how this works out for us. Using it once or twice will likely pay for itself and it surely will beat a Walmart or Cracker Barrel parking lot.

    Happy Travels!

If you visit any of the winery’s or distillery’s you will definitely have to stay the night. Taste testing🤪

  7. A lot of times i just use the tailgate of my pickup. It makes a good work station Webber baby Q cutting board  connect the grill to the front propane tanks. It works well when done just close the tail gate. I’m also looking into using one of the slide drawers on the deck system in  the truck bed as a pull out kitchen.

  8. Interesting there must be more to this story. When I picked up my 2019 LE2 I had several issues that I caught before ever leaving the parking lot. Two days camped in the parking lot, all issues were resolved.  While at David Crockett SP. two more problems all taken care of. They weren’t owner errors.  One month later several more warranty  issues. Oliver staff set me up with the closest dealer to me and all work was covered no charge.  Your warranty should cover all items for at least the first year on non Oliver items ac fridge etc. and Oliver’s warranty is covered for two years. Which is one of the best compared to others.  Unless this all changed.

Wow, sorry for your problems. It stinks for sure.

Were it me - I would repair what I know to be an issue, pressurize the system, and keep looking for water. Under pressure the leaks should be more evident. However, if any of the drain pipes cracked, that may be harder to detect..

Process of elimination, no easy answer it seems.

    Good luck.

    Ditto to BackofBeyond

just stated typing the same.   Have a two person check one to check all the areas. And one to shut off the water supply quickly. Good luck.

Nice work. Great pics.  I plan on doing the same mod. I don’t like the idea not being able to see out the door.  As a safety reminder I’m sure most know this. At night and you need to look outside if you hear a noise or someone is at your door. Always turn on your outside lights on, and leave all interior lights off. Any one who is outside will not be able to see you inside  due to the tinted windows,  turning on interior lights you be seen plain as day.

If you were EVER going to do this kind of trip then NOW is the time.  With our Canadian snowbird neighbors basically prohibited from making the journey this year, finding camping spots should be a bit easier.  Good luck and can we assume that you will report back here on exactly where you went?

    Bill

Yes it is. We’re looking at a target date April - June most of the snow birds will be gone not many this year. Weather still not to bad before the real rainy season severe storms start and the 90s plus and high humidity start.  And yes  i will report back  with map locations and photos. This will be somewhat no real plan trip just going to follow recommendations and have fun with it.

  12. Not to worry no political talk here.  It did give me a great Idea. We are always traveling out of Florida to different destinations. Why not travel Florida?  Going to try to travel  down the west coast around the Everglades to the keys back up the East coast  hopefully zigzag  East to West trying to use back roads. While heading north then west around to the pan handle then home.  It may take some time, there are a lot of new Harvest Host sites just added to Florida, most of them are Winery’s and Distillery’s. 😳  Any one who has traveled Florida I like to hear some of your favorite destinations Campgrounds, State parks, attractions etc.  I’ll make a list of your suggestions and try to do most of them hopefully.   It will be much appreciated. Thanks

Airsteam has a nationwide dealer network, and distributes trailers to them at a discount so they can decide on the street price for their locale, and survive financially. Oliver has no dealers, no wholesale pricing, no mass production, and no inclination or need to discount a trailer that has a year backlog in orders. Why would they even consider it? It would not make any financial sense. If times go bad, they will continue to produce bathtubs and mobile home accessories, and they will survive until the bad times pass, as they did in 2008. Airstream is owned by Thor, and they do nothing but RVs. They would not have any kind of financial cushion if the economy goes bust and folks quit buying them.

You are getting a discount on your Ollie. If Oliver was a dealer based Company like airstream  you probably would be paying airstream  pricing for the Ollie.  The advantages of direct factory buying no middle man price increase.

  14. We also have both. We tend to use the sleeping bag as secondary bedding for short trips. I would use the sleeping bag more if they were zippered on both sides I’m a turner and wind up getting wrapped up in the sleeping bag, We purchased bedding from ABS bedding  and really like the custom fit sheet and blankets it gives you that home sleep feeling. In short which ever make you more comfortable,

  15. A very nice upgrade. I personally would not consider it. My current Chevy duramax 2500 averages 450 + miles full to empty that a lot of miles for us to travel at one time.  Towing a large Rv it may be a good idea less time at fuel station’s trying to maneuver around.  With the Ollie we are in and out in less than  30 min that’s with taking a bathroom break, stretch out and a quick snack. Recharged and back on the road.

  16. For those who are buying the tools for tire removal for the first time.  A suggestion, it would be a good idea to practice changing the tires if its your first time. It would be better to learn how to change the tires on the Ollie in your driveway and get comfortable with it than have to change a flat tire on the side of the road. Which in most cases will be in poor conditions. Un even surfaces.  Not a lot of walk around room given that vehicles and trucks will be wizzing by you at 60 -70- 80 mph’s  scary. you should also check with your insurance carrier most policies now have some kind of road side assistance for tire changing. The down side to that option is a very long wait time or you may not be able to get service.  It all depends on the situation your in at the time you have a flat. Safety first.

  17. My tv has factory TPM.  I don’t have the monitoring system on the Ollie. If  there is a slow tire leak i would notice it in the trailer handling.  If it was a major blow out i would be checking my shorts before I checked the monitor. 😳

  18. I leave the anode out after I drain the water heater. Then plug the hole with a piece of cloth to keep critters out.  My thought is that there is still some water left in the bottom of the tank and leaving the anode in, it may continue to deteriorate. Just remember to put it back in before you set out. I also run the water first before putting the anode back in to flush out any stagnant water left in the tank.  My procedure only others will way in on there how to’s

The way this poll is constructed makes our answers a little ambiguous. Oliver has not always balanced the tires on their trailers. The tires that are currently being installed arrive at the factory already balanced, but the poll provides us with no way for one to tell if the trailer was delivered prior to or after Oliver started providing this needed task. I would suggest adding the hull number or, at least, the year of production.

Out of curiosity, what year/hull number do you own?

2019 hull 484 tires were balanced either by the mfg or Oliver not sure which. I suggest high speed balance and not a static balance bubble balance.  I don’t think any tire shop does bubble balance any more. That was done when the wheel was fist invented.

    Landrover -

I split this because it probably deserves its own space and will be easier to find in the future.

I've swapped mine - front to back - but not side to side.  I've kept a keen eye on the tread of all four looking for any signs of wear that might indicate any issue and all four still look amazing even after something like 50,000 miles.  Most likely I will be retiring these at the end of this coming year due to age and not due to any wear issues with them.

    Bill

Thanks topgun 2  i just replied to jd. maybe this could all be one thread rotation, Wheel weights and possibly tire wear and age for replacement?
