  1. Just a couple of questions. Will that Yamaha run the new AC? Yes, ours is the 13,500 BTU Dometic Penguin II Are you able to lock the genset into the box to deter theft? Yes, we use a cable and lock, I'll be happy to send you a pic Have you converted it to LP? No Is your box the one offered by Oliver, or did you have it made. Their Box (from our original Outlaw Oliver) Thanks a bunch,
  2. Has anyone bought the generator box from Oliver. My trailer is under construction and this is the time to add things I may want in the future. I would be buying at least a 3000 wat propane genset. Would the tongue location place too much weight on the hitch? I have ordered the wdh so maybe that's not such an issue.
  3. that Olympus is way too rich for me. I am looking at the Pentax XG 1
  4. Thanks for the camera tip. I will check it out. We were camping on the Suwannee River last weekend And I could not see my subjects in the iphone screen. Really want a viewfinder.
  5. Sherry, Camping for a few weeks. Wow. That would be so nice. To settle in and not worry about heading home after only a few days. That's coming for us. Sooner than later I hope. I will certainly post some pics of Suwanee on our blog site. Be blessed.
  6. Where is all the chatter? Is it because school is in? Prolly not as most of the forum members appear to be past child rearing age. Camping season over? Don't think so as we are leaving for Suwanee River State Park in Live Oak FL tomorrow morning for some Old Florida canoeing and hiking. The weather even promises to give us a campfire night of fifty degrees. This will be our last Soiree in the Casita, as she goes on the market when we return from this trip. No time for another trip before we take delivery of our new Oliver November 25th so may as well put her on the market. I suppose there just aren't that many Oliver owners to maintain an active forum. And with most features coming standard there isn't near the amount of "mod" chatter you have on Casita, Escape, etc. I started a new blog and will appreciate any support you can give. www.emeraldcoastcamper.com. Until I can figure out which camera will be best for me you will just have to enjoy my low res iphone pics. Maybe I will find something in the Black Friday sales. Have you tried to buy a point and shoot camera WITH a viewfinder lately? Hard to find, and I just don't like framing shots with a small screen on the back of the camera. C'mon guys. Perk up and let's get some action going on this forum.
  7. Congratulations. We await the delivery of our new Oliver on Nov. 25. The Oliver family is growing quickly so we need to start thinking about a meet up. Is there a map showing the locations of Oliver owners.
  8. Our three favorite campgrounds to date are all in North Georgia 1. Blackrock Mountain State Park. 2. Amicalola Falls State Park 3. Tallulah Gorge State Park
  9. Yaaay. Robert has cracked the whip and moved our delivery date from February 2015 to November 25, 2014. I did opt in for the Anderson hitch. After watching a few videos of how easy it is to hook up, and especially after seeing a full sized pickup with an ultralite stickie upside down in a ditch the extra $525 is a small price to pay for safety. I like the way the Anderson attaches using chains rather than bars. I also opted to buy the Wilson 4G cell phone signal booster because on extended trips I will be working to pay the bills and all my business is over the phone these days. Here is a survey question. What are your favorite exterior graphics colors. I am thinking a patriotic theme of red white and blue, but my wife likes more of a maritime theme which will work with our new WEB site www.emeraldcoastcamper.com We have one last trip planned with the Casita and then she will be up for sale. We will miss the little egg. Lot's of great memories, but longer time out demands larger, more comfortable quarters. Roll Tide Roll.
  10. Thanks everyone. I am going to spring for the Wolson and let Oliver install it.
  11. Say, do you feel the need for WDH when towing with that Tacoma? I am wondering if my Chevy Avalanche will handle the weight when I pick up our new trailer in February.
  12. Oliver offers a cell booster installed for about $500. Does anyone have experience with this option?
  13. Adding my two cents. I just ordered my new 23.5 with four Trojans. With the right smart charger, which Oliver uses I expect over 1000 full charge cycles. I did not order the inverter and will use my Honda 2000 i for emergency charging, but I may also buy the Go Power portable 120 watt solar system for re charging. I can plug that directly into the batteries, or just use the Alligator clamps it comes with. All this really depends on your situation. Mine is mostly in state parks with full hookup. The extra batteries are for emergencies...such as the occasional hurricane we have here in NW Florida.
  14. This is a timely discussion as I have ordered a new Oliver 23.5. I researched this a bit and discovered that there are indeed two criteria for towing. Weight Carrying, vs. Weight Distributing. It was hard to find but my 2011 Chevy Avalanche with the Z82 towing package, and VR4 trailer hitch will stretch the limits of Weight Carrying when I pick up the Oliver. The label is hard to find. Above the 7 wire receptacle and you have to stand on your head almost to read it. Mine says the following... Carrying Weight 600 pound tongue 5000 pound maximum trailer weight Distributing weight 1,500 pound tongue 12,000 maximum So will my Ollie weigh more than 5000 pounds? Is the Anderson hitchworth the $534 Oliver charges. Probably yes.
  15. The factory tour was great and our new Ollie is in the que. Now the long wait while they build her. Carol and I were impressed with the attention to detail, and the rock solid quality of these trailers. The finish is impeccable and seeing the various stages of construction convinced me that this is truly a lifetime investment. We were able to see a raw frame, inner shell, wiring, etc. The aluminum frame is very strong looking and I like the thought ov zero wood in the floor. Stay tuned for progress reports.
  16. After six hours at the Oliver factory yesterday we are placing an order for a 2015 Legacy Elite II, but without solar. The trailer is so tall I would be intimidated by having to ladder up to maneuver the sloar panels. I am ordering the Trojan batts. and will just use my Honda 2000i for re charging. I may buy one of the portable self contained panels as emergency backup to the Honda. Needless to say the Ollie is a very impressive trailer. Feels like a high end sailboat, with marine grade everything. My Casita will feel small while we wait for the Ollie to be built, but we have enjoyed this past year with her. I am facilating on the Wilson cell phone booster. Any comments?
  17. This is the day we see the Ollie in person and have a tour of the facility. Excited to determine if Oliver will be our new home away from home.
  18. Here is yet another question for experienced Ollie owners. Is the solar option worth the money. If so which battery package is best...4 6v, or 4 glass mat batteries. I am thinking about this in light of evacuating in a hurricane, or even living in the Ollie while recovering from a disaster...natural or other. What can actually run on the batterise. No AC of course, but what about fans and frig?
  19. Would anyone like to give feedback on the Oliver 9.2 AC in the Legacy Elite II 23.5? I am considering ordering one and the 2015 model comes with a 13500 btu AC. Is the smaller unit not sufficient? I would prefer the 9.2 because my Honda 2000i generator will start and run it. I don't believe it will run that larger unit. I live in Florida, but only camp here in the Winter months. I run away to North Georgia mountains in the Summer to escape the heat and bugs. So before I ask Robert to retro me back to a 9.2 btu please give me a shout out about your experience. Thanks in advance.
  20. My wife and I are planning a trip to see a new 23.5 and enjoy a factory tour next week. Are there any questions or issues we should address while there. ie are there any bad surprises you have found with Oliver. I am not too happy about the 2015 price increase, but I suppose they have to make a profit to stay in biz. The upgrades will offset some on the increase. Coming from a 17 foot Casita the Oliver looks huge on paper so I am interested in the feel of it compared with smaller Casita. The 21 Escape is actually bigger due to it's width, but Canada is a long drive from NW Florida. One upgrade they are doing is a 13500 btu Air unit. Are the present units not doing the job. I would think the double wall construction would contribute to the efficiency. Comments welcomed.
