  1. I cant help myself. Reminds me of the saying "People in sleeping bags are the soft tacos of the bear world". I went up to scout the area out last Thursday and spent 5 hours on my TTR225 just enjoying the fact that nobody could get in touch with me on my cell. I would stop now and then to rinse my head in the creek that flows through that entire area. Pop a beverage out of the ole mini ice cooler and relax. Its amazing how much my stress level lowers once Im far enough into the hills to not receive calls. Anyway I didnt notice many bugs if any last week. Before my kids moved out we went up each summer because it was free and nobody was around. Dirt biked and paint balled and just had a good ole time. I had not been back for several years and figured it was time to see if the ole stomping grounds was still as empty. In the 5 hours of riding we ran into 1 camper. They happened to be in one of our fav spots but during the ride we located at least 4 other spots that would be excellent off the path camping. In the past I have typically used 2x6 for pads but I figured I spent enough on my Ollie I should spoil it a bit :) The Ollie that is now mine is the one that was listed out of the Seattle area for sale. I went up seen it paid cash and smiled all the way home. Sure the 2017 would be great but as a business owner I would have likely had to pay someone to hall it over from TN and then stressed about how they treated it the entire time. If it had not popped up I likely would have ordered off their site as I was losing patience looking. I was considering a Escape 19 but their wooden interior just made me think of the amount of repairs I have had to have done on this Toy hauler because of the wood. I was done with that and wanted full on fiberglass.
  2. Will be heading up near Mt Adams in Washington. I will post some pictures of the camp grounds and such and might even give my camp ground away. :) I lived in Montana and South Dakota for my younger years. Bears are just big scavengers and 90% of the time are more afraid of you. The key is to not tussle or be to near to a momma and her babies. :) Anyway some details on the my Ollie. 320 watt solar package 4 x Trojan 6volt AGM sealed batteries 2000 watt inverter NovaKool 12volt compressor refrigerator model R4500 Tankless on-demand hot water heater from Suburban Standard Propane tanks but I travel with a extra as I have quick connects for it to hook to my camp latern - camp stove - camp burner The Gen set is intended to be a backup in case I run my batteries down to low because Im in the shade. Also it is to let me use the AC when needed.
  3. Hello all, As Im gearing up for a boondocking camping trip run Im buying a few items I consider essential that I never used with my toy hauler. I value my Ollie a lot more than my money pit toy hauler. We will be selling it soon and it cant be gone fast enough. Anyway here is a list of items I have picked up and I wanted your thoughts on jack pads / weight of the Ollie. So far I have the following: Camco 40043 TastePure water filter (wont be going boondocking with me this round as I will be parked at the clearest mountain stream :) Camco 40055 Brass Water Pressure Regulator (again not going on the boon trip) Camco 22833 Permium Drinking Water Hose Items Im considering are: Camco 44595 Stabilizer Jack Pad - 4 pack you can see them here at Amazon Honda EU3000iS or the Yamaha EF3000iS = Your opinion on these would be great but I think its the ole blue vs red Im leaning towards the Honda because of the run time and how quiet it is. I hate the thought of being "That Guy" that has a generator running that sounds like a Harley. Anyway toss some thoughts out and let me know if there is anything else you consider essential.
  4. Does anyone have this and how well does it work? Im worried that it wouldnt hold up against rocks from a gravel road. Specially when it comes to Fiber Glass.
  5. Hello all, Im curious what others currently use to avoid rock chips when boon docking. Im not talking the average boon docking in a primitive site. Im talking out back driving down gravel / washboard roads for miles. Now I only recently picked up my Ollie but man its shiny and the last thing I want is to chip it all up. I had diamond plate put across the front of my toy hauler and that helped it but that really isnt a option for the Ollie and Im not sure it would look all that good. These have great reviews and I think Im going to pull the trigger on them but wanted some opinions and wanted to see what others use. Anyway this is the product Im looking at. Rock Tamers
  6. Thanks for the information I will contact Andersen
  7. My bad anyway back on topic. The sound is just like what you get when you turn really sharp with bar style systems. Its that loud groaning basically. The difference is with this one just a normal turn does it. Im guessing it was too tight or similar. I did notice that the triangle was never even so maybe I have to get it straightened out and then adjust the chain tension.
  8. I can tell you one thing I have already figured out while switching from my toy hauler to my new Oliver. Im going to need to put more of my gear in my truck. Instant canopies and cook stoves and my Davy Crockett all have to go into the TV now. Im thinking a truck bed cover that folds up and is easy to remove but has the ability to lock is in my future. :) Its just the wife and I now so the need for the toy hauler is gone as I can toss my dirt bikes into the truck now.
  9. Hello, So over this last weekend I purchased a 2015 Oliver Legacy Elite II. It came with a Andersen Hitch. I have never used a Andersen before but I have used the normal ones with the bars instead of the chains and they were extremely easy to hookup and use. I have watched a few videos on the Andersen hitch but I have a few questions that Im hoping some of you might be able to help with. 1. Will I have to get down in the dirt and adjust the chain length every time I hookup? 2. It is extremely loud when I turn left lol like embarrass the crap out of you loud. I assume this is a issue with setup or something similar? Does something on these need to be greased? 3. If the answer to number 1 is yes lol does anyone want to buy a Andersen Hitch kit? :) Im joking with 3 but you get the point about how loud this was. I should have recorded a sound clip and linked it. I have so much to learn about my new Oliver and Im glad the forum is here for the help. Thanks in advance for the help! Robert
  10. Thats the exact one Im talking about. I plan on going up and seeing that one this week. It has solar and I was curious about the wind if it is a issue at all. I also noticed he went with a Novakool 12v DC fridge. So that leads me to many other questions like would it boon dock very well if you were in a shaded area. Generator will have to be on hand just in case. But if you had that installed at the factory does that mean that Oliver wouldnt bother running a propane line behind it? Meaning if I found that I needed a 3way fridge after all and I purchased one would I have to take the unit back to the factory in order to get it hooked up because they didnt run the propane line? Or do you think they just capped the line and its still there behind the fridge and able to be used.
  11. Hello, Im still looking at ordering or purchasing a used Oliver L Elite II. I was looking at how the solar panels are mounted and wanted to know if anyone has experience hauling or camping in a windy area with the solar setup? I live in Oregon and travel through the Columbia River Gorge often when camping and if anyone has been through that area you know there are some very strong winds on a regular basis. So I was curious if the panels cause you any problems. Thanks
  12. System specs should have little to do with a websites response time. Honestly you should be able to surf most webpages on a potatoe. With todays connection speeds being far better than the past it shouldnt be a issue. In this case the response/speed problems are likely config problems or plugin problems within the wordpress site. We dont have a ton of active people on the forums so it isnt that bad at this point but if we ever get a very active community I could see them becoming very but for now its ok. I typically just open another browser and surf other sites that are much more responsive while waiting for each page or topic I click into to load here.
  13. Site is done in Wordpress and they use Bluehost. Wordpress is a decent platform but they are also running a lot of plugins for it as well which the more you run the slower the performance. Bluehost is a decent hosting server so it isnt sitting on a office server. They should consider doing something different to improve performance though as looking at just the forum stats it shows the most ever on the forum at a given time was 11. They have a great product and the future buyers will be expect more from the tech side of the world. You will get different speeds from browser to browser but its for sure the site and not your system. I have the exact same performance at home which is 100mb as I do at work which is gigabyte. Both sadly are close to the original posters speeds. Configuration is king when it comes to word press so Im sure it will eventually get worked out as long as it is brought up that it is slowing performance.
  14. Exciting stuff! I hope there are some updates in store. And yes I check at least 3 times a day right now because Im curious what 2017 has in store!
  15. Quick question on the fridge. Just how small is the fridge? Is it the same size in the Elite and Elite II? This made me start looking around and for the life of me I cant find any mention of the fridge size. I think I found one spot that a person said it was 4cuft. Is this the case? If anyone can locate the official Fridge size on the website that would be great. Im just not seeing it.
  16. Excellent! Thank you all for the pictures. It actually looks easy to remove the night stand. Looks to be 4 brackets and it would come right out. As for the extensions I wonder if I would even need to bother removing them. A sleep number bed requires just a platform so it would be as easy as a piece of plywood or something similar across the two to connect it. I dont think the extensions make it any taller right? They just come out a bit to make room for the mattress. The downside is likely the same either way as in access to those connections under the seats but again either way its the same if Im going to place a sleep number bed on it.
  17. Bill, Thanks for the reply. Hopefully this catches someone that is in their Ollie and can post a picture. I have a hard time picturing the twin bed extensions you are talking about. Im curious if the conversion Anita was talking about would have to be done by the factory or if it is as easy as removing a few screws/bolts from the inside of the nightstand by removing the drawer. Im hoping its as easy as that and wouldnt require a trip the factory. I run my own business and rarely have any time off other than a 3 or 4 day weekend here or there which is why I worry about getting out there to take delivery. I guess I could call around to see if there are any delivery companies that could pick up take to factory then deliver out to Oregon.
  18. Hello all, I noticed that there is a Twin Bed model up forsale and I am looking for a Legacy Elite II king. I cant tell from the pictures but I know many of you on the forum have the twin bed layout. I wanted to know if it is possible to remove the nightstand between the two beds? Is it screwed down into place or actually molded in place? Also is the night stand really the only difference between the two layouts? Any advice would be great. My wife and I would pretty much set the bed up to be down 100% of time as I have a bad back and we would be using a sleep number bed. That being said is there any worry about having to access anything under the bed? Circuit breakers and such? Thanks
  19. I transferred our tool kit from our previous Oliver Elite to our current Elite II. Rather than try to tell you what you need I'll tell you what I carry and you can make your own decision as to whether you might want to also. Misc. screwdrivers (flat and phillips) Misc. pliers, wire cutters/strippers/crimping tools, vice grips, hemostats Hammer, rubber and regular Multi-Meter A full set of metric and SAE wrenches A full set of metric and SAE sockets Two DeWalt 18V cordless tools (drill/driver and Impact) A full set of 64 drill bits The 18V batteries also fit a DeWalt Vacuum and flashlight An 18 inch long 1/2 inch drive breaker bar with a 5 inch extension bar An 18 inch long 1/2 inch drive torque wrench A dedicated 6pt socket that fits the lug nuts on the Oliver and Truck A dedicated 6pt socket that fits the anode in the water heater (mostly in case someone else needs it) A 12 volt air compressor Tire plug kit, Pressure gauge, Non-Contact Infrared Digital Thermometer (for hubs and tires) A collection or stainless steel screws, bolts, nuts and washers Extra fuses Flashlights, butane lighters Misc. crimp type wire connectors and terminals, roll of electrical tape Duct Tape, WD-40, Silicone Spray, several rolls of that green Velcro that's used to tie up plants etc. (just cut off what you need to secure cords or what-ever), scotch tape Tube of White Caulk Misc. hose fittings such as Y's and cut-off valves, extra rubber washers Two complete sets of wheel bearings, races and grease seals as well as grease in a NEW, CLEAN grease gun Jumper Cables (these will come in really handy if your converter/charger ever fails - guess how I know) 30 amp to 50 amp converter, 30 amp to 15 amp converter, 120V extension cord Clear Elbow for hooking up the sewer hose when full hookups are available or at a dump station Water purifier Misc. wooden blocks to put under our jacks Misc. bungee cords, para-cord 120V extension cord This is the bulk of what we take, it sounds like a lot of stuff now that I've written it down, but with the exception of the wheel bearings and tire plug kit, we've needed each of these at one time or another. That is a rather large kit. From everything I have read about Olivers why would you need such a kit? I thought the units were solid without the need of much repair. Your kit sounds like what I had to carry in my stick trailer. Am I missing something could you please explain a bit as to why you would need such a laundry list of equipment when rolling in your ollie?
