I've spent some time researching handheld GPS units. Initially I was on the verge of purchasing a Garmin 750i, quite pricey, but seemed to be able to do everything I'm looking for, but after reading through many of the reviews it seems people are not happy with the units. They complain of them freezing up frequently, loading slowly, not being able to keep up while driving at highway speed, yada, yada, yada. Has anyone had any of these experiences? We want to be able to go off grid (in the mountains for instance) where cell service is poor or non-existant. I like having the ability to send SMS messages via satellite with the inReach system and being able to message for help if we run into any problems, of course, mapping is the key purpose when there is no cell service. I'll get a measurement to find the drop needed to make 20-25" off the ground, that should take care of the change in tire height when I return to the stock tire size then order the Weigh Safe rated for 18.5K and I should be all set on arrival. Greetings, I've established from previous conversations to wait before buying a WDH. So now, do I need to arrive (May 2022) with HOPEFULLY the right height hitch or do I need to purchase an adjustable hitch, or will I be able to aquire the proper hitch upon my arrival at the Oliver Hatchery next May? I'm driving a large Ford F250. Oh yeah, one other thing. We just aquired the truck used and will be changing back to the stock size tires before next May so whatever the current receiver height is now will likely change. Thank you!! albert

WOW! Thanks for all the feedback, I'm loving this! I'll remove the WDH from my build order and get one later if needed. As for the brakes, I too have had mixed experience with trailer brakes. Pretty much what I've seen is (except for air brakes on a big truck) the trailer brakes are not generally worth much on the big down grades, hence the reason I went for the bigger TV so I could hold it back more with the drivetrain instead of the brakes. It's the strongest reason for getting a diesel that I know (so you can have a jake brake) but I'm not ready to spend the money on that and anyway, unless you plan on a LOT of road time, the added expense otherwise very hard to justify. Looking forward to our delivery of our LEll in May 2022. Just bought a 2017 Ford F250 for a TV. I've been planning on getting the Anderson WDH but it sounds like I may not need it. We go through the Rockies frequently and tend to drive at or a bit above the posted speed limits on the flats, (much more conservative on the down grades). What's the consensus on using a WDH with the F250? Also, It seems like the larger ball/coupler is a good idea, I think we'll go that route regardless if we end up with the WDH or not.
