Can we register for the 2024 rally now?
Is it at Lake Guntersville again?
-
Thank you.
Are they far enough along to announce prices?

I can’t answer the “best” question, but I prefer the individual Benchmark Road and Recreation Atlases for each state I intend to visit.
I had not heard of Benchmark Atlas before. I looked them up on Amazon. I expect they would be good, but at $25 a state that could add up.
What makes them so expensive?

We've done both. With high florida sales tax, on desirable /high trade vehicles, trading can sometimes make sense. (We also avoided sales tax in this state, in trade-in portion.)
I've done better sometimes selling our well- maintained, well-documented vehicles private sale. A couple of "driven to the dirt" dead vehicles went to charity,,for parts.
Lately,,with the dearth of quality used vehicles, we're getting really good offers from dealers to trade in our vehicles, even though we haven't asked. Not ready to give them up.
Research, evaluate,,analyze.
As you will.
I keep stuff for a long time.

Which is best?

Other than “convenience”, why would anyone trade anything in?
I never trade anything in. I always sell outright

Why would an Oliver owner use a dealer to sell their trailer?
Use of the forum made sense. RV Trader and other sales tools makes sense, but I don't see using a dealer except to trade it in.

How so?
First, we know Oliver intends to push new trailer sales through a dealer network.
Now we find out Oliver is now trying to push sales of used trailers off the forum and into their upcoming dealer network.
The logical next step to me is that Oliver would want to also push service to the dealer network.

One of the great joys of using this forum is the absence of pop-up ads. Anyone operating a forum has to pay for server time and storage space, and the usual way that is accomplished is by selling ads.
I, for one, will be sorry to see that happen.
I use a number of forums and ad block works on them all.

No, everything about sales and service in Hohenwald will remain the same.
That seems to contradict the signal we get by disallowing sales of used Oliver's on the forum.

Will Oliver start deemphasizing service from Hohenwald to push owners to use dealers?

Good for Oliver. Bad for Oliver customers.
The Thor model.

We’ve done the closed valve rinse for years. There’s no reason to fill to 90%, or even 70 or 80%. When Carol tells me we’re at 50 or 60% I open the valve. Do that twice and you’re good. Mike
That is how we do it.
Then we add a little Calgon and Pine-Sol to the toilet and flush a couple of times to let that work on the tank using the bumpy road travel to loosen anything and everything. I have found the roads around Lafayette Louisiana very good for this process. 🤣

Part of my consternation is related to the fact I washed a big chuck of plastic out of my gray tank the second time I drained it. That has me wondering if a cutout is floating around in the FW tank wreaking havoc with my meter.
I would not have left the pump on if the FW ran out, but it said 19% so I was still using it. I pay attention to stuff, and expect the meter to be accurate.
The joys of the burn in period.

Make sure that your valve configuration is proper and that those valves are fully set into the position you desire.
I have not messed with anything since day one.

The pump running continuously would be a concern. My understanding about pumps is don't run them dry.
It is back to normal now that I have water in the FW tank.

A couple of things here. First, the pump kicking in and running non-stop. This usually indicates a water leak somewhere. That would also explain the initial low tank reading. With water in the tank and the pump running, or hooked to a water source, look for water draining from any weep holes under the trailer.
I figured the pump running was because there was no water for it to draw in. There are no leaks.
I left the house with a full tank of fresh water. The meter said 100% and I know it was full because of the overflow draining.

The Oliver is an attention getter.
One guy came up that was in his second Casita. He is seriously considering going to an Oliver. We talked about our trailer and gave him the tour. I expect he is going to join our forum, and stop by the factory on his way home to NC. He was struck by the component quality of the Oliver compared to the Casita.
We talked to a young man that was interested in our Oliver. He and his family are big long time campers. He was in a refurbed 1966 Avion. He fell in and out of love with our Oliver as we discussed the cost of an Oliver. I suggested he join our forum and look at an older used model.
Oliver's sell themselves.
