We picked up out twin Legacy Elite II in 2017 and are really enjoying it but because I wish I had gotten the king bed.  The factory tells me they charge $2800 to convert it.  Has anyone done this themselves?   I assume the factory takes out the nightstand which I like having but I don’t know.  I would be interested in hearing if others have done their own conversion.  We have the 8” mattresses so I suppose I would have to have a custom made middle section.

Not sure how the normal twin beds are configured but we have the raised twin beds and we just converted to a king. I used a 3/4” piece of birch plywood with a 5” piece of memory foam on top of it.

I did something similar. The space between the twin beds is 18” X 51”. I cut three 19”X 17” rectangles from 3/4” ply wood to sit on the fiberglass frame.  I cut a 1/8” X 1/2” lip so there is no movement, there’s 1/2” overhang on each side. A piece of high density 6” foam is level with the 8” mattresses. The three pieces of wood are small enough to store easily when not in use. We can also use one of the rectangles as a table between the beds when we’re in the twin bed mode and watching TV or reading. Mike

So I am assuming a 1/8” deep by 1/2” wild cut for the lip leaving 5/8” depth of plywood remaing on the lip to hold the total weight?

Yes. Just enough to prevent any lateral movement.
