John Dorrer Posted September 13, 2023 Share Posted September 13, 2023 This showed up on Facebook. The 1-1/4" receiver has a max weight of 150lbs for bike rack and bikes. Is the 150lbs just for the weight on the receiver or on the bumper or both? The person has also mounted 2 - Honda 2200 generators over what appears to be the fastening bars for the bike rack. 2-Honda generators @ 50lbs.+/- each, 2-bikes, and the bike rack on an Elite 1. It seems to me too much weight off the rear bumper. Any thoughts? Too much trailer weight behind the axles will lead to fishtailing and could lead to an accident. At the very least, he has altered the balance of the trailer and is reducing the tongue weight, another factor that could lead to decreased trailer control. I hope he's got a big truck pulling it. If so, he'll probably be OK. Moderators SeaDawg Posted September 13, 2023 Moderators Share Posted September 13, 2023 Our Elite 1 doesn't have a very heavy tongue to begin with (no basket , nothing on the tongue, around 420 pounds.) I wouldn't try this on mine, for all the reasons Steve mentioned above. Our elite1 bumper is very short. We only carry a dump hose in the cavity . 1 3 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. DC compressor fridge.
