  1. Since it is in the up position when open, that little hatch will often times slide shut on it's own. We have tried putting something in place to keep it open but that reduces the hot air flow into the space where it is needed. Once we discovered that the door and it's frame snap into place and is held there by two sided tape, we simply removed it, increasing our hot air flow into the area signifigantly. I think that a simple solution might be to place a 25' heat tape on the water pipes that run from the bathroom down the highway side of the Oliver. Then run it under the rear, and over to the curb side, taking care to get the heat tape around the water pump, then come out of the hatch that gives access to the curb side electric jack. That would allow the heat tape to stay in place all of the time, yet be out of the way until needed. Then, when needed, open the hatch, pull out the cord and plug it in by the sink. A switch and indicator light might make it a more permanent install. The tape has an indicator light on it and comes on when the temperature gets down to 38 degrees. This might be considered by the factory as an option for EXTENDED COLD WEATHER CAMPING. In the past we have stayed overnight in a parking lot at 11 degrees, but last night's 8 degrees and the extreme wind chill factor really amplified the problem. Our insulation may be different from other Olivers since it is among the oldest that are out here. We have the 1/2" thinsulate insulation package and no other insulation options. Under all circumstances before this that has been more than adequate. Other ideas and input appreciated on this ! Chris, Cherie, Betty & I, are kind of out there in uncharted waters on this situation, and would like to hear ideas others may have about this.
  2. Thought I would give it a try, found it at : http://www.world66.com/myworld66 It seems to respond ok. Was a way for us to look into areas we have little travel experience in. Seems as though we need to work on the corners of the USA !
  3. Happy Thanksgiving everybody ! Be sure to remember our service members that help to keep America free. They stand in the gap between us and so many of the world's bad things. Yet, many qualify for food stamps while being highly trained professionals willing to go in harms way so that we won't have to.
  4. While geocaching in Coffeyville Kansas at a cache named PO'S TREE, a sharp, shiney, tricked out Jeep Rubicon pulled up to say Hi. The driver was a long time neighbor of Po and gave us some cool background about him. Then, as Jeepers tend to do, the conversation turned to Jeeps. I had asked about a cool overhead shelf in his Jeep, located just above the sun visors. The shelf had caught my eye because our Jeep's dash is always covered with things like GPS, Camera, binoculars, ball caps, and just on and on. That very cool shelf just seemed to be the perfect solution ! Here is a look: Well, to make a long story short, it turns out that Doug Misch makes those cool shelves and other sweet Jeep storage and convenience items. Before long we were talkin' Jeeps at Doug's office a short distance away, and Betty and I were looking at some of the slickest Jeep solutions ever ! Here is a look at Doug Misch in his office, after hours, taking care of business for his newest satisfied customers, that he met at a geocache. There was so much cool and practical stuff at Doug's place, that we left with more than the shelf, or those sweet storage bags for the Jeep's headrest, we had found a friend. Thank's Doug, for your attention to our needs. Should you have a intrest in 4X4 innovations, Misch 4X4 products may be viewed at: http://www.misch4x4.com If you want to call him instead, he is at: 620-251-9100 . Or mention it to me and I have a hand full of brochures that show many of his cool products.
  5. NEEWOLLAH = HALLOWEEN, backwards.
  6. Wow, thanks Chris and Andrew ! We are guilty of using the large storage area where the fifth tail light is, pretty hard, you know, just cramming something in to get it out of the way. I'll bet that can contribute to causing the ground to go bad also. I know that almost every time after an extended stay somewhere, when we do a pre trip lighting check, one or more of the lights on that plate have been disloged by storage items and have to be put back in their sockets. I'll bet that was a tough one to run down. Lucky you had some quality help with it !
  7. I guess for me that's the bottom line. For nearly every thing that I do. When you look someone in the eye as they tell you something, you know then, not later, but right then. You can shake someone's hand and still not be able to tell if you can trust them. But there is something about the ring of their voice and the certainty of their statements that tells you if they can be trusted. Robert Partee and I had that kind of relationship based on trust, and I expect that many on here will readily agree that their relationship with him was similar. After all most of the folks on here bought their Oliver trailer because they dealt with Robert, whom they trusted. The folks at the factory are all ever so busy handling the nuts and bolts of getting the trailer you ordered just like you want it. But somehow Robert and his attention to detail was the vital link to getting your needs communicated to the talented craftsmen out on the floor, who would come through for you. When you told Robert what you needed, it was as good as done and when you got off of the telephone, you felt confident that your request would be tended to, because Robert said he would take care of it. Trust. Then, weeks later at your delivery date at the plant, you are not supprised that the little details you needed are taken care of, because Robert told you he would take care of it. Trust, the critical element of our transactions in life and business. Robert was the trusted "go to guy" for many new Oliver buyers. Haven't heard any details, so I won't get into speculation, it's not necessary because professionals take care of business and we know the folks at Oliver as professionals. Times change, and people move on. Robert has. He will be sorely missed.
  8. A quick video look at Elk City Lake State Park's new Shower and Laundry room. It is one of the nicest we have seen in quite some time ! After ten hours at Amazon, it is a treat to take a long hot shower in this new, clean, well lit and heated facillity. Kudos to the State Kansas for having the needs of workampers in mind for this project ! Sombody had their "thinking cap on" while this one was in the planning stages, for sure.
  9. As we set up camp here just outside of Independence Kansas at Elk City Lake State Park, I noted again, that we had chosen a campsite that suited us well. But, it once again didn't have a clear view of the sattellite we would need to get the local weather, ect. Sorry bout' the low quality of the first photo, I guess I was trying to do too many things at once, shade the lense with my hand from the sun, ect.. Because we seem to habitually choose sites that are similar, I have wondered if our roof space might be better used for a solar panel site. Bugeyedriver has such a setup. We carry the dish in the manner of the Beverly Hillbillies, up on the roof rack. It is a bit large and sometimes in the way, but it prooves to be necessity when we need to know about the weather. We have sometimes thought that should we build a 22' Ollie, we should use that roof space for solar panels.
  10. The Toyota uses a seperate bulb for each light function. The Oliver uses a common bulb for more than one function. Here is a web link for one type of adapter: http://hitches4less.com/vehwitcombul.html Chris said: This sort of adapter is needed when there isn't already a trailer light plug installed on the vehicle, and yes - you need to take into account the type of bulbs / tail-lights. But... Our Tundra has the factory tow package, and a standard 7-pin towing connector already installed. OOpz ! Yes, that is the way it was with our Nissan. It had never had a factory tow package and we had to add the hitch and wiring harness mod, with the adapter. Sorry I couldn't be any help with this.
  11. One of the services provided by Express Employment Professionals here at Elk City Lake State Park, is that a Honey Wagon comes around three days a week and you just put out the little flag, then they will pump out your tanks for you. We just leave our hose out so they can get to it easier. Note the water hose wrapping with heat tape inside. We used a larger than necessary 1" foam wrap to allow room for the heat tape. Yep, we remember those colder temperatures eight hundred miles to the north, and were' gona' be ready, cause' we'll be here till' December 23rd.

  13. It needs a comercially available adapter ! Seems like they cost about $25. Had to put one on our Nissan 4x4 so we could pull our Ollie with it. The Toyota's internal wiring circuitry is giving a "all shorted togather reading" to the LED's on your Olliver. We went to a trailer place and they knew immediately what the problem was, installed the adapter in about ten minutes and no problems since. Each adapter is made for a different Japanese manufacturer's brand name, example, Nissan, Toyota, ect.. Good luck and I really like your new TV, saw it on Facebook !
  14. Woo Hoo ! Yeh, we is a' gona' have us a time at the lake !
  15. New video of the Jugfest 2009 located, Steve intended to post it, but a heart surgery got in the way. > Just talked to Steve & Tali, the scubarx's, and they will post a campfire video of a picking and grinning session where Thomas and Katy unvieled his newly composed song about our lake Greeson gathering, titled, as I remember it, he's a retired man". Steve, we look forward to viewing your posting.
  16. Maybe some of you weren't able to make last years jugfest, and would like to see what it looked like, ect.. Here is a link to several videos on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Jugfest+2009&search_type=&aq=f Or search youtube.com for JUGFEST 2009
  17. Hey PETE ! We need to find a way to show videos and slides to the Jugfest 2010 attendees, of the Old fasioned hippy style, tie dye wedding on the beach at sundown, with beautiful Native American Flute music. I know we will have lots of pix. Maybe that evening, after the slide show, at Lake Greeson, after casting the jugs at sundown, we could reinact the chivaree that we have been planning for so long ! OOpz, I hope I didn't let the cat out of the bag on that !
  18. The sugar beet harvest is winding down, and as the end draws near, we began to hear of a inside, out of the weather job, eight hundred miles to the South, in Coffeeville Kansas. After a bit of internet research and a phone call or two, we have it hooked up. Eight hundred miles South means milder weather, which sounds pretty good about now, since we have worked some 19* nights on the beet pile. All of the paperwork is done, the interviews completed, and we are now officially Amazon dot com associates ! All of the employment forms arrived minutes after our first contact with the prospective employer and we quickly filled them out and sent them back. The end of the work day was at hand so the first thing the next morning, upon checking our email, we had the job. All that remains is a 800 mile drive, after we finish up the beet pile here, and the orientation at the new site. We will be seasonal workers at Amazon.com's large shipping facility in Coffeeville Kansas. GREAT SHADES OF RUBY RED SLIPPERS, TOTO ! WE R' GONA' BE IN KANSAS AGAIN ! Camping fees will be paid at this location also, and we will be staying at the Elk City State Park, a U.S. Corps of Engineers Lakeside campground. After talking with the host there we learned that the new shower house is completed, but the laundry is still under construction. We will be working four ten hour days, which will give us more time to explore the old historic areas there. The job will be from November the 8th. to December the 23rd. Which means we will have to day trip it home for Thanksgiving, and the back seat will be full of CHRISTmas presents for the trip home at the end of the assignment. We are excited about this new assignment and are looking forward to working inside as Winter draws nearer.
  19. JUGFEST 2010 ! Yepper', its that Arkansas Jug fishing campout again ! Kirby Landing, Lake Greeson Arkansas, fourteen days of the greatest kind of camping known to mankind ! Fun, Food & Fishin', man, it don't get no bettern' that ! The days are not etched in stone , yet, but, the moonphase determines the bait fish hatch, so, most likely the last two weeks of APRIL, 2010 Let's talk it up and see what dates fit best for the most folks.
