  1. Members, please welcome to the moderators group our newest moderators, Andrew & Lisa Hewus ( bugz ). This Spring and Summer will be a busy spamming season if the past is any barometer. Many of our moderators have travel plans and the team will be streched thin as various ones are out of pocket. Bugz will bolster our moderating teams strength at a important time for our forums and we are glad to have their help. Being a forums moderator is a tough and demanding job and often times goes down as a thankless effort. At my last contact with bugz they were in the moderators forums plowing through the many pages of reading to be able to expedite getting up to speed. Again, thanks bugz !
  2. Photos by Chris Young of the Off Road Camping Club. This is a well captioned & put togather slide show that gives a great over all look at the fishing and surroundings. Maybe it will entice a few more to fit this event into their schedule for next year ! Here is one of the great pix: A 12 pound blue catfish being landed by the deck crew of the morning, Jeff, Alan & Betty.
  3. WooHoo ! Wouldn't that make a good photo, bats sihlouetted against a rose & orange colored sunset ! I wonder if the terrain would alow something like that ? Betty and I have plans to visit again, there is so much to see that several visits still wouldn't see it all.
  4. Cool ! You know, I thought I had seen it listed somewhere before, here it is at It gets good reviews there also.
  5. Thanks you guys ! When we go West to Colorado we plan to go that way. We will put this information to good use ! Could this be the city park across from the church & Parsonage ? If this is it then it is a couple of blocks North of US Hwy. 70 ?
  6. I guess that I might add that the loosely woven ground mats that we favor under the awning, the ones that rinse off and dry so quickly, will, unless you power wash them, bring a small amount of fine "grit" into your Ollie or tow vehicle's carpet or rugs, if stored there. Storing them in the roof top tube eliminates that and the tube cleans up readily at the next washing of your tow vehicle. The tube goes on and off of the roof rack quickly with tywraps available from most hardware stores. The end caps will, I believe, be lockable with a cable padlock, making the tube somewhat secure storage. Which is a consideration because if you have loaded your awning sunroom up with accessorys, you could have four or five hundred dollars tied up in the tube hanging on your roof rack.
  7. The sun room has a couple of colapsable poles that will also roll up in the sunshades, along with fishing poles. Items that might need to stay dry and dust free such as rugs, ground cloths or the sunshade room panels, and the awning tie down straps, ect.. Many RVers use their awning sparingly though they would like to use it more often. Wind is the awning's enemy. The sunroom and tiedown kit allowed us to keep our awning out continuously for two plus weeks at Lake Greeson, and in periods of thirty mile per hour winds !
  8. As Butcherknife pushes her plate back, our friends are walking back to their campsite, Alan & Chris are the last of the diehards, hanging in there with us, she says quietly, "Honey do we really have to go home today ?"
  9. Early mornin' sunlight streaks across the table as we get ready to sit down to breakfast:
  10. Early morning Breakfast, Lake Greeson, 2009 Catfish Camp. Biscuits baked in a castiron skillet beside the lake. Butcherknife asked me as she slid them in the oven, "you want them a little extra brown ?" He, he, you know I said Yes ! A little extra brown makes them just a tiny bit crunchy on the ones on the outside edge of the pan, and fluffy white and tender on the inside. When you crack one of them open to butter it, the steam will just roll off of it ! Oh, yeah ! That cow salve butter is nearly a' meltin' before it touches the biscuit ! Smother a few of them with white gravy, then for desert, one with peach preserves. Man oh man. Here is a look:
  11. Last morning predawn camp scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Spnn-QZuFk
  12. Hey, Aubrey ! I think she was talking about the other company. How did the return trip go ?
  13. Maybe a person to person visit ? Need his personal cell phone number ?
  14. Well, I'll bet that I realy mangled the spelling of that. Here they are, secret sauce in the pan and all. Some of us old die hards are still here on the Lake ! Aubrey, didja' note the shrimps ? The chese brautwerst is ever so good.
  15. A simple storage solution by Alan Young from ORCC ( Off Road Camping Club ). Here is a look: This installation on our Jeep wrangler was by all the guys at the Lake greeson Catfish Campout.
  16. Contact information: Super Bright LED's, Inc. 4400 Earth City Expressway St. Louis, Mo 63045 314-972-6200 phone 314-972-6202 Fax. http://www.superbrightleds.com Their web site is quite extensive and worth cruising through if you have a special application or project. They aren't as inexpensive as the eBay store we bought from, but they did have what we needed and shipped promptly.
  17. Here is a photo showing the web address, the part number and a side by side comparison of the G4 base bulb to the 15 LED replacement.
  18. While at the Lake Greeson Catfish Camp earlier this week, Cajun Birdman, Aubrey, showed us his LED conversion reading lights. They were plenty bright at 75 lumens, and the variable intensity seemed more than adequate. We got the part number and the web URL from him and placed a order that day. Though we are still at the Lake, we picked up the LED's when we went to feed the critters at the house. Here is a short video that will give a look at the variable intensity. There are fifteen LED's on the replacement, and they are a bit higher. They don't seem to be available on eBay yet. Click the link to view the Youtube video:
  19. The PHATDIPPIN' RAP is ever so phunny ! The Obama spoof just sets it off !
  20. Talked with Steve again today. He had called while we were out on the lake picking up the jugs and I missed his call. He wanted a report on how the mornings catch had went. he sounds even stronger today ! Good news indeed.
  21. Same here Steve, and we use the rubber maid plastic dish pan. Never have used the kitchen sink plug for much.
  22. Both of those are just hilarious ! Where can I find some more by those two guys ? These two are both from different sources.
  23. Have you got a travel trailer business card ? They are handy for all sorts of reasons, but, particularly if you want to stay in contact with a new acquaintence. It came a gentle Spring time rain shower this afternoon and I threw this design togather. Please make suggestions for other info I might add, design changes, ect..
