Gliddenwoods
I have been chasing (previous post) some problems charging my batteries. The saga continues. Xantrex now suggests that my DC breaker, which often breaks while charging may be the problem and should be replaced. I have done a fair amount of my own house electrical work so the process of replacing is not a concern. However my knowledge of the Oliver electrical system is less. The question, and request for advice,is other than, turning off the big red solar dial, unplugging the 120 line and manually setting off both breakers what else should I do to be safe and sure no current exists? As an aside, has anyone else replaced the 300v inverter/charger breaker? Thanks (Hopefully this solves the problem,,,) 2022 Oliver Legacy Elite II, Hull 1242, 9/26/22 Lithium Platinum Power/Solar Package Tow with Supercrew Cab 2019 F-150 4 x4, 5.0L 4-Valve V8 with 3.73 axle ratio & 157" wheelbase. Solar off first, then inverter breaker, followed by the batteries. Gliddenwoods
John Did you replace with same brand? Or did you replace with a higher quality (if one exists) brand? 1 2022 Oliver Legacy Elite II, Hull 1242, 9/26/22 Lithium Platinum Power/Solar Package Tow with Supercrew Cab 2019 F-150 4 x4, 5.0L 4-Valve V8 with 3.73 axle ratio & 157" wheelbase. jd1923
It’s a real shame to have a 2-year-old Oliver with Lithium Platinum Power/Solar Package and have to replace a Xantrex 3000. Xantrex used to be the gold standard in inverter/chargers! As far as removing ALL power sources, I would also disconnect and follow the 4/0 cables from the batteries to the inverter. Reads here like they now use a breaker. Our older installation had a 250A ANL fuse and holder hidden between the hulls to the right of the pantry! At least 4 Oliver owners with older 2KW Xantrex systems have replaced them with the Victron Multiplus II. No reported issues. I’ve run mine at home for a couple months and field tested now 3 weeks on an AZ to TX trip. It really is a great product, about $1,100, will take a bit of work to install. More info here and a few other posts (search for Multiplus or MP2). Best wishes, JD Edited October 30 by jd1923 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins! Same as your situation, Oliver sent me a new one under warranty for our 2022 Elite II. The center breaker in the attached photo is the new one I installed. I turned off the solar switch in the overhead compartment above the street side bed, ensured that shore power was disconnected, then turned off all of the batteries using the on/off switch on each battery. Wear a headlamp, and keep a long-handled magnet handy in case you drop one of the screws that mount the breaker to the white HDPE block. They can be hard to find down in the belly of the trailer! Don't ask me how I know.... 1 Hull #1291 Central Idaho 2022 Elite II Tow Vehicle: 2019 Tundra Double Cab 4x4, 5.7L with tow package
jd1923
Looks like I misunderstood the context of this post. If I was to replace the breaker alone, I would install an ANL or Class-T fuse. Breakers are lower cost, China made, of inferior quality in protecting shorts and abnormal current flow in BOTH directions (breakers only protect overload in the wired direction). I suggest either of these with Blue Sea or like quality holders. Have an extra on hand though you will not likely need it! https://a.co/d/bLRPs8I https://a.co/d/aCyHIKv 1 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins! Gliddenwoods
As per Jason ("I would just make sure the inverter is off and the shore power is disconnected. When you connect the wires make sure the breaker itself is tripped. Once all connections are good you can reset and verify it is working properly.") I installed/replaced the Optifuse breaker. After a few test discharge/recharges all appears to be working correctly...finally! I also worked with Xantrex and Lithionics call reps and made some small adjustments to the controls via the apps. Jason also added "We no longer use them (Optfuse breakers) as the system was changed in the '23 models with busbars and an ANL fuse & cutoff." Thanks for all the prior input & thoughts. 1 3 2022 Oliver Legacy Elite II, Hull 1242, 9/26/22 Lithium Platinum Power/Solar Package Tow with Supercrew Cab 2019 F-150 4 x4, 5.0L 4-Valve V8 with 3.73 axle ratio & 157" wheelbase.
