Hello! We picked up our new trailer on Friday and just wanted to join the discussion. At some point, I’ll figure out how you all add tow vehicle specs at the bottom of these posts. Also, can someone point me towards an insect screen that works for the Truma? This could probably be in the delivery section but I’ll add a pic here.

Congrats and welcome!  Looks great.

To add a signature click on your screen name in the upper right corner of the screen.  Then, click on “account settings”.  You’ll see “signature” which is where you need to add any signature information.  Mike

What is the issue with insects and the Truma?   I am getting my options list figured out and I have Truma on my wish list.

Most folks add insect screens to appliance openings (hot water, furnace, fridge).  In some areas of the nation we have to deal with mud dabblers, wasps, etc that like to get in and build nests.  Most screens can be purchased off Amazon or at Camping World.  It is not specific to the Truma.  Mike

Get the anti-freeze kit.  Not only will it help when traveling through cold weather, but it comes with a plug for the exhaust that can serve double duty keeping insects out during storage.

We purchased the antifreeze kit with the trailer. Thanks for the tip!

I am missing something.  Have not heard of the antifreeze kit.  Can you folks inform me what and how on this item ??   Thanks.  Tina and Mike

It’s a 12 volt electric heater element that replaces the filter on the Truma.  It allows you to travel through freezing temps using the tow vehicle’s power to keep the small water tank in the heater from freezing. Same for at night, using battery power. There’s a setting for it already on the remote panel - the icon with the snowflake and lightning bolt I think.

Installing it is easy - just release the drain, pop out the filter, stick in the new one and then plug it in to an existing port next to the other wires. The exhaust plug that I mentioned comes with a little clip that screws into the inside of the door for storage. It’s nicely designed with a little tab that pokes out of the door to hopefully remind you to remove it before trying to run the unit.
