  1. So I went through the process of setting up my Oliver for Fords pro back up system yesterday. Today I needed to put the trailer back in my shop and together with the back up camera on the Oliver and using the Ford back up system I made a perfect approach on the first try. Usually I have to make several attempts to get it just the way I want it. It was a little scary, kind of like an instrument approach in zero zero weather. There is no ‘seat of the pants’ feeling. The Ford Pass is really cool. I can control my truck, check the gas, set the temperature, start the engine, etc. with my cellphone while I’m still in my trailer. This will come in handy when I’m leaving at o’dark hundred for a photo shoot and it’s freezing outside. Tomorrow I’m having Line-x in a leadfoot grey color put in the bed. Next will come a Bakflip MX4 bed cover. Finally I will beef up the suspension with a Roush leveling kit and Fox shocks fore and aft, custom tuned for the F150.
  2. My new ride and TV, Ford F-150 Lariat, 3.5 twin turbo super cab short box, 4x4 off road, max tow, twin sun roof in leadfoot grey.
  3. Is there any way to get vinegar into the water heater?
  4. Is there a video here that shows replacing the anode?
  5. Used a small spanner wrench to get the aerator out. Then I took apart the handle and blew compressed air into the small holes behind the cartridge where the handle goes. Of course I disconnected the hot water hose behind the drawers. A small bunch of gunk from the heater rod came out. Aerator screen was also completely blocked. Thanks again for all the help. Now I need to service the water heater.
  6. It’s the aerator filter at the end of the faucet. It would be the obvious and simplest thing to check first.
  7. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I need a special filter wrench to get the filter out and can’t find it locally.
  8. Sink in bathroom works fine. Toilet flushes but I can’t water out of kitchen faucet.
  9. Regarding the solar system, I had an Elite, hull #23 for five years without it and now have one with the factory system. It works well for me. Mine is a 2015 so I don’t know if it’s the same as the current system. I still bring a Honda 2000 generator with me so that I could run the ac or charge batteries in an emergency. When I didn’t have the solar system, one tank of gas in the generator would last for weeks. It only takes a couple of hours to charge the batteries. As far as installing systems your self, in my opinion, with minor exceptions, the factory does a great job.
  10. Ok, I get that some people like apples and some like oranges. I liked all the trucks I tried. I just liked one more than the others. All the trucks I tried were more than adequate as a TV. Since this will be my daily driver I want a truck that gets pretty good mileage, is good off road and fun to drive. I am impressed with the creature comforts, technology and safety features on the Ford. After test driving these full size trucks, driving my Taco is a lesson in humility. Well, until it comes to off road, where the Taco will leave these comfortable behemoths in the dust. Cruising down the highway in a QUIET cabin with a leather cooled seat that is adjustable 10 different ways will be a new and welcome experience.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I have driven Ford, Chevy and Ram. The Ram Rebel was fun to drive and looked the coolest, Chevy has shift on the column and feels like an old mans truck. The Ford impressed me with it’s six cyl turbo and smooth ten speed tranny. It was also the most fun to drive. I like all the little things that Ford thought about when designing this truck. Things like easily adjustable headrests, a real shifter in the console with a manual shifter when you need it. It was much more like the off road Tacoma that I will be giving up to my son. I think the turbo will help while towing at altitude. The trailer back up system is also a plus for me. I am coming from owning three FJ Cruisers and a customized Tacoma Off Road truck so this will be a big change for me.
  12. Is anyone here towing with a 2017-18 Ford F-150 6 cylinder turbo charged engine? I am shopping for a new TV and looking at these.
  13. Your truck looks great with the new wheels and tires! Tires make all the difference when you are in mud, sand or slush.
  14. It was a nice Christmas message written by Jason Walmsley. Spending time with friends and family is the most important aspect of Christmas for me.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Mine is in the recall. Hull #80 2015 LE
  16. Yes, I am busy all the time. Between being a father, grandfather, fisherman, photographer and, of course a husband, I don’t know how I ever had time for a real job.
  17. I have had two Oliver’s and never had that problem. I am pretty sure no one on this forum has had that problem.
  18. He’s fascinated with everything in the man cave. Although we are 67 years apart I am fascinated with the stuff in there myself.
  19. He says he can tow it with this..., no problem!
  20. Wow, this sounds like an event of historic proportions. I wish it was closer to home.
  21. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I tried them all with no success including pulling the head out to make sure everything was connected. It seems foolish to have a high end trailer like ours that can’t run normal TV sound through the stereo system. With my limited knowledge of sound systems it could easily be something I’m not doing right. DVDs work great with stereo sound. Radio works great as well. The TVs speaker works fine and maybe that’s the best this system can do. I can live with that until I find something better. I will have to find a retro connection before I can hook my iPhone 7 up to the stereo.
  22. Thanks Dave. That is the same procedure explained on the Oliver video. The HDMI was unattached and I plugged it into the back of the TV but still can’t get sound from the speakers. Maybe I need to unplug the red white and yellow wires. DVD works fine, stereo radio works fine.
  23. I think Oliver is using a different company for their stereo now. Maybe it will fit our trailers as replacement. If I can’t make this one work I might go to a stereo installer and get a custom one. Some friends of mine just bought a Jayco trailer and the stereo in their trailer blows mine away. Although I like to be off the grid a lot, I do appreciate some fine tunes out there.
  24. I will check out your suggestions tomorrow. Thanks
