    Landrover -

I didn't take any pictures of my install because I thought that it was already fairly well documented via the video that is linked on the Zarcor website or this one:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV441-B4gMQ

If you need any additional info, just PM me.

edit - forgot to mention - there are 16 screws in the inside frame of my door window - these screws are what holds the outside frame, inside frame and window together with the door "sandwiched" in between.

Topgun great video Easy install, Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

I did the install of this new window and shade this morning.  The only item that is not covered in the instructions concerns the safety glass "label" that is etched into the new tinted glass.  This label side of the glass should be placed toward the interior of the Oliver.  I chose to place it in the upper left hand corner thinking that it would be a bit less apparent there as opposed to the lower right.

I also made sure that I taped the exterior frame very well before starting the install since I was working by myself AND, if I could manage it, I didn't want to have to remove the exterior window frame from the door (this not only saves some work but doesn't disturb the existing seal on that part of the window).  This worked well other than my being a bit nervous that somehow the tape would not hold and I'd drop both the frame and window.

The new window fit exactly like the old with no gaps and the shade fit very tightly to the edges of the window.  Now I am able to see outside the door with having to open the door and I can adjust the shade (open/closed) from the inside without opening the door.

This will be my next priority upgrade. I never liked the idea of not being able to see who was outside the door especially at night. Could you share some photos of the in stall?  Was the window snapped in or screws? It looks like the 2019s have snap in windows. Thanks

Super nice setup. I have a 30amp plug outlet and leave my Ollie plugged in 24/7 your battery’s should never overcharge with the elec system in the Ollie,  even plugged in with Just a extension cord.

Mattnan your place looks like a nice spot for a Lobster rally lol.🦞🦞

When we were growing up in the south, "PoP" was expensive so we mostly drank “Sun” ice tea.  My mom made it very diluted so us kiddos could drink all we wanted.  It kept us hydrated and was effectively a low caffeine low sugar beverage.  When camping, she would make it in advance and put it into cleaned out 1.75L bourbon bottles (without labels).  They were heavy glass so they kept the tea cold in the cooler and also poured really easy as they had a handle too!

During the summer of 1968 (I was 16 years old at the time), we were on the Tchefuncte River camping and water skiing.  The retired couple that was camped next to us seemed really nice. But as the day passed, they became quite agitated with us. We could not figure out why.  Each time the ski boat returned we would run over to the camp table and guzzle about a pint of weak tea in our Red Solo cups. When the bottle was empty, Mom would bring out another one from the "Ice Chest".  Each time, the retired couple would get even madder.

Then a State Trooper showed up at our camp site.  I had just finished water skiing and ran past the officer and poured and downed about a pint of our weak tea. The officer asked if he could have some, and I poured him a pint into a Red Solo cup.  He tasted it and then loudly said "Wow, this is really good".  The retired couple were at this point pointing at the officer and us and were now cursing about how shameful it was "In broad daylight".  The Officer ignored them and we talked for a few minutes about water skiing on the Tchefuncte river with its alligators and poisonous water moccasins.

After several minutes, he went over to the couple and suggested that maybe they should just mind their own business as drinking weak tea was just fine. The look on the retired couple's faces was worth a million dollars. Those folks were packed and gone in about 60 seconds.

Some of the best sweet and un sweet tea is made in the south by far. 🥤

  5. My wife and I were camping  at a state park in SC.  The park allowed a couple to park a very beat up looking van in a site, several sites away from us, no big deal. The roof and the inside of the van was loaded with 2x4s and plastic tarps. For the next 2hrs of hammering and nailing of 2x4s then stapling tarps everywhere. It was just a matter of time. They just finished the shanty when the park ranger arrived and told them to leave. It took another hour for them to take everything apart. It wasn’t obnoxious, it’s was the funniest fireside entertainment we’ve seen at a campground.

    Landrover,

Are you satisfied with how well the fan functions and suction cup hold in place? (I just noticed currently unavailable on Amazon).
    Thanks,

    Patriot

Patriot i like them. The suction works well hadn’t fallen off yet, very quite. Lying in bed about 5’ away you can feel the air moving. As others have shown there are a lot of different types out there. I’m happy 👍🏼

I'd been toying with adding some stick-on tiles as a backsplash to both kitchen and bathroom areas.  Finally saw a couple of different applications in an Oliver and decided I'd give it a go.  Ordered these: https://smile.amazon.com/LONGKING-Backsplash-Stickers-Talavera-Mexican/dp/B07DR8F44K/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Peel+and+Stick+Backsplash+Tile+Stickers%2C+Gray+Talavera+Mexican+Tiles&qid=1588613058&s=home-garden&sr=1-1 --- then $30 and since I can't be out camping, decided to at least work in the Oliver.

One package of 10 tiles was more than enough, even with one square (3x3 tiles; about 1 square foot) bunged up and pulled off.  The tiles are pretty sticky, but can come off if needed but I suspect will stay stuck pretty well.

  9. If it’s not bad enough with traveling due to c19 something just as bad (not really) Love bug season has started in Florida those nasty black bugs who’s only purpose is to have sex with each other and splat on your vehicle. Their splatted  bodies  like to eat away at your paint if not removed quickly. We made a quick trip from Ocala to Tampa 80 miles one way. I had to stop at a rest area. A good estimate at least 1square inch over the entire windshield was covered in bug splat. You can’t use wipers it spreads it all around.  So if your traveling into or around Florida for at least the next two weeks be prepared with paper towels and a lot of window cleaner. And yes it will turn the front of your Ollie black with bug splatter.  The beauty of living in the sunshine state.

  10. I like your mod well done. I’m not trying to be critical of your mod just a word  from experience  i made something similar on a class c  it worked great but later learned that the weight of the bike and the constant bouncing in the rear i had stress cracks in the weld area. If I didn’t notice it, it might have come apart  i put more bracing at the receiver to the main frame and never had a problem. Just a thought. Nice work

We placed an order for complete bedding for our 2020 Oliver (in production) and during our research discovered that AB lifestyles manufactures a complete waterproof mattress sleeve/cover for the twin mattress set. So we ordered a set. It’s not listed on their website yet so you need to call and inquire if interested. USA made 🇺🇸 by our neighboring state In Iva, South Carolina. We have purchased from AB before and they really do make nice high quality linens.
    Hope this helps anyone interested.

These are pretty amazing and the $49 Prime price for a pair is fine. At 6500 lumens (a bright 100 watt "equivalent" LED is around 1500) they are way too bright, painfully bright, for a regular garage ceiling, but when placed up high they do a great job without being so bright that you have to wear a ball cap.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KRJ6VWL?tag=camelproducts-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&language=en_US

I had two in my 10 ft tall garage for four months and moved them to the 16 ft RV bay, they are perfect in that much larger space. I ordered another pair to add there.

I haven't had any problems with mine so far, they do not interfere with the garage door openers, but that is a possibility with cheap LEDs. I would not put one close to an opener unit, or just plan on having the lights switched off if there are transmitter issues.

At this price you could order an extra box and keep it for spares, just in case one light fails.

Highly recommended, but only for a tall ceiling!

I agree with john i just installed (12) in the new garage  6 in the 10’ ceiling  and 6 in the 12’ ceiling  super bright do not look up at them you’ll see spots almost blinding .  Just like daylight. I hope long term exposer will not be a problem for the eyes the debate on leds being bad for the eyes is still out there  love the lights but may have to reconsider my eyes are more important. To soon to tell.

USFS and BLM were certainly in my first thoughts. State and local county parks have been really convenient in the past, and any openings, however limited,  would be great. Seems the next several weeks will give us a good idea on what the direction of openings will be, and how may states will be open - without 14 day isolation restrictions.  Ollie is ready now, but I do need to review the associated "we need this" pile. Seems if services and opportunities are limited, I should rethink a few must haves - I may even think about a small gen set - which I've not needed before - if the sun stays out I'm good - but ..... the sporadic Elec hook up may not. Will travel with a full tank of H2O, and a few extra 6 gal containers;  not my usual MO. Seems the extra payload of the GMC will come in handy.

I'm going to do some route pre planning across Texas, into NM, head north, go where ever, head to Flagstaff on return - for family time, and then head home. This is a very familiar route for us, and as such,  we rarely did any preplanning, now it seems prudent.  The scenery through Texas will be much different this time - with the oil patch now in turmoil, I expect it to look much different than last year!  Been making that stretch yearly since 1975, its a good predictor of the nations energy economy.

What I can't wrap my head around is demand - will there be a large contingent of pent up rv/campers - gotta get out there - or will it be - need to work, stay  home, get lives back in order?  I tend to think it will be small demand, limited services, more opportunity if your not a full service camper.

One benefit - fuel is going to be - cheap cheap cheap!

  14. A basic kit gives you most of what you may need bandaids, etc. i also carry over the counter items alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, triple antibiotic ointment, also over the counter meds aspirin, Tylenol, Benadryl etc. your kit should ad any personal items you may need. Speaking to your local fire station or Ems service also helps.  I have been seriously considering a portable AED  not  only for myself but for anyone who might need it. Help sometimes can be a long way away.

Just a friendly reminder - my intent when starting this thread was not to just generally discuss trucks, their features, their reliability, but to grade how your tow vehicle actually pulls your Ollie, preferably under stressful conditions . Cruising flat terrain near sea level is not a real test. How it functions at 100 degrees, 8000 ft and a 30 mph headwind is most meaningful. Or climbing an 18% grade back road with 10 mph switchbacks...

Basically, how does your truck perform when the chips are down?

    Thanks.

I've read this entire thread. Based on your posts, if I were you, I'd sell that trailer and get me something I could be happy with.

I think everyone was very happy and excited when they purchased the Oliver. So that’s  the answer with poor quality control? Sell your trailer if your not happy and buy something else?

OK, who else is in their league?  Certainly not Airstream, a more premium priced trailer.  Not any of the sticks and staples trailers.  I know Black Series makes nice trailers, but they aren’t problem free upon delivery and depending on the dealer things may or may not get fixed.  Bigfoot?

I had a black vent pipe leak when I picked up (4 years ago) and had a couple of overhead doors that wouldn’t stay shut plus a short in my solar controller.  Support from Oliver was great.  Got all fixed locally paid for by Oliver.  It’s been 3.5 years and 50K miles and no issues.

Here’s my point - there might be some initial issues but the factory is quick to get them resolved and once resolved the trailer remains problem free even after a lot of miles.  The long term durability is tough to match by anyone else in the industry.  Unfortunately, folks read these forums and hear testimonials from owners and then expect perfection upon delivery.  Mike

Airstream was in Olivers  league years ago. They once had the best reputation for quality and look what happened lets hope Oliver is not following the same path.

  18. I’ll agree service is top rate, the best i have ever had to deal with. But I shouldn’t have had to deal with service on many occasions because of poor quality control in the factory.  As i said in many posts on this issue and expressed disappointment with the quality control to management.  If Oliver’s claim that many inspections are done at each phase of the build, and then a final inspection  and water test for leaks before delivery there should not be the amount of problems that the customers are experiencing.  Reputation is key which is how Oliver got were they are. It doesn’t take many unhappy people in this age of social media to loose that reputation. Increase and demand of higher production, will make them fall short of quality control which it appears that it already has. It will be interesting to see what happens when production resumes. Let’s hope the down time is a good time to reflect and make changes.
