  1. We're on a temporary hiatus providing daycare to our 18 month old granddaughter. We will return to camping on?? But, we will return! 😀

I totally get it. I'm blessed with Gramma/ grandson  time 4 days a week.

Their little lives and abilities change so quickly! Enjoy it while you can. She will be camping with you someday, I'm sure.

So glad you have the time to enjoy with your grandchild. Nothing compares.

  2. No power when not plugged in.

Hi, @MnG KY, you'll probably get more responses if you do an a post instead of a status update. Sorry for your problem.

First, have you checked to see if the gfci is tripped? I'm assuming you mean you are getting no 12 volt power?

  3. Hello from CT.

We are Jeff and Katie. Just a few weeks away from our delivery date in mid May of an Oliver Elite II.

First time owning a travel trailer so we've been doing a lot of reading on the forum. We took a couple of years researching other brands and made our final decision after taking the Oliver factory tour. Cant wait to join this group and get out on the road this year.

      Hi, Stillgame and welcome!

Would you consider posting this in the introduction section of the forum. More people would see it, and everyone loves to welcome new members!

  4. Hi, Swamp. Welcome to the forum.

You may want to post in "introduce yourself", as a lot if people miss the update posts.

I'm sure others would like to welcome you, too.

Btw, which model did you choose?

We're excited to get the trailer on the road, too, after this long Covid year!

Some people wait til just before they get the Ollie, others introduce themselves while still looking. Your call.

We'll all look forward to photos when you get your Oliver and get out camping!

  7. Trying to decide, as I will be a FT Ollie-r, where to “domicile.” Since my deliv date is in the dead o’ winter (Jan 2021), I would rather NOT backtrack to VA but instead do a one-way U-haul to delivery day in TN, hang out near factory a few days to learn etc., and then take off for adventure from there. That said, I do have to “domicile” as well, and wonder if anyone has done that in SD in Feb. Blizzard much? LOL Timing is lousy huh? But Tax Lady heartily recs SD for my sitch. I could maybe just go to camp somewhere in TX and “domicile,” but eventually, crazy as it sounds, I feel SD calling to me. “Inexperienced RVer Found Frozen Trying to Domicile.” Headline.  Yikes. Ha.

Sd makes some things simpler, though.

      Time enough to consider.

  8. Total Loss of Battery Power

We have a 2019 Oli Elite solar and Norcold fridge (the one with the touch panel controls) and 2 6V AGMs.    A week or so ago while getting ready for the season,  the fridge was accidentally turned to DC and drained the batteries  I hooked to shore power and charged things back up.  Everything worked in both AC and DC modes.   While doing a 1 night boondock 2 days ago, I put the fridge on level 2 and we travelled about 2 hours.   We arrived to see the Zamp controller flashing and battery status low and the condition low.   Nothing in the trailer would work on DC.  We drove home,  hooked to shore power, and battery indicators showed everything was full.   All systems worked while hooked up.  This morning I disconnected the shore power and all indicators again said full.  I turned on the lights and water pump and they pulsated. Within 30 seconds the lights and water pump shut down and the Zamp controller showed battery status low and battery condition low.

Clearly my batteries are not holding a charge.

Any ideas?   I'll contact the service department  on Tuesday the 26th but though a little insight may be helpful.  We have a big trip planned in 2 weeks and are too far from Hohenwald to drop by.

    Thanks!

    Randy

Randy, would you mind posting your update in the topic you started on the forum? The status updates don't show up for me on my phone. I'm sure there are many others who will be happy to hear your good news!

The Norcold manual also specifically states that the fridge is not operating efficiently in dc, so to use dc only when charging system and battery are in good shape and working correctly.

Bill, I was surprised, so I looked up the Norcold manual online. If his fridge is a 510, it will indeed switch to dc if neither 110 nor gas is available, unlike many other fridges.

That's not a problem if the gas is left on. It will choose gas if no 110. But, it's certainly something to be aware of for Norcold owners.

  12. The storms that hit Middle TN last night meant our power was out and we had to get back home to mind the generators and cancel our camping plans, but we picked up our beautiful trailer today and got it back home to Nashville TN. Everything is top notch so far and we couldn't be happier. Also today having some A/C is a blessing. Bonus driveway storm damage we had to clear just to get the trailer parked at home.
