  1. Wow thank you so much for the info. We are new to the USA side of Superior and I will be bringing our big water canoe. Will look this caves up. Pakaskwa park is a national park and is totally a must visit if you haven't ever been. We should be in the USA by this Monday as we are about to leave Manitoulin Island and head west to SSM. Cheers, PerryG
  2. Hey Dave, this will be our first time visiting the up Michigan area around Superior. We cycle, hike, canoe and love great beer. Any input on locations and must see would be fab. Thanks PerryG
  3. Securing the bikes was important as we travel and leave the vehicle unattended. No worries as they are out of site and weather.
  4. Yes for sure. I love the old tech. Manual 4x4 also lol. The old Detroit never skips a beat and when it time we will replace it with the same motor but with the optimizer tweaks the US military has been using.
  5. We run about 300 days a year and like to be outdoors. Everything from cycling to hiking and back country skiing. Out door gear takes up a ton of space. We also leave the trailer often and travel for the day. Having a fridge on board and food supply makes for good eats 💯
  6. I believe in keeping it simple with an old school truck. We enjoy towing the Oliver with it and plan to upgrade as needed. The truck sips diesel @100kph and I love having a manual for those pesky downhills in the mountains💯
  7. Hey Kirk thanks. It's a work in progress but it makes a great vehicle to explore with while base camp stays parked. Now if the borders can stay open this winter I'll add much needed stuff to the build while in California😉
  8. Last pics.
  9. Hello fellow owners. Thought I'd put up some pics of our tow vehicle. Our truck is an old school GMC 3500 hand shaker 4x4. We picked up our trailer April first of this year and have rolled around 15000km since. We are taking a 2 week break at base camp before we head of to Northern Michigan site a Superior Lake tour. Thought people would like to see pics of the rig.
  10. Wonder how these bolts could have got backed out? Did you add a lock washer or lock tight to prevent this from happening again? Thanks for the update. Will be adding this to my annual logbook💯 PerryG
  11. Nice write up John. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I will be done ng this job ASAP. Cheers, PerryG
  12. The tow vehicle is a 1998 GMC 3500 single wheel 4x4 5 speed with a 6.5 Detroit. The bed is heavy duty custom made and the cap is heavy duty aluminum with 4 large side compartments and a large 4x8 interior space for 2 bikes gear and a 75 litre fridge. The truck is used as the exploration vehicle and the Oliver is our base camp. Pics to follow as we are still on our way home from the Oliver Hanger Cheers, PerryG
  13. After taking Delivery of Hull 1067 we decided to head to Gulf Shores for a little shake down trip. We where all good on the coast untill all the crazy storms and risk of Tornados. Heading North to Canada we where hit with everything that mother nature could through at us ànf thee Oliver performed like a champ. We are avid RV adventure travellers and I must say this unit is very impressive. We travelled 5500km since our April 1 pick up date and look forward to many more full time living miles over the next few years. He is the one and only parking lot pic I have. Cheers,Perry and Colleen
  14. Switched from an airstream to an Elite 2. We picked up our unit 9 days ago and have had everything from 90mph winds in Alabama to driving rains on 5000km worth of Interstate driving. As I type this we are sitting a the border waiting for import into Canada @-4c and we are nice and toasty off grid as nothing is open this time of year. All that mileage made use realise we made the right decision to switch💯
  15. Very slick set up. Where did you purchase the Anderson connectors adapter for he side of the box. Been looking for those. PerryG
  16. Good info here. I'll be checking while at the mother ship for pick up. Thanks, PerryG
  17. John, you make as great point. Airstream is horrible with electrical. My 2020 was a mess when it came from the factory. Charge controllers and inverters away from batteries. PerryG
  18. We will be doing the same. No roof mounted solar panels for us. My TV has 2 100watt panels that can be switched to provide power to the trailer. Depending on our location we can add 100 to 300 watts of solar via the input plug on the side off the trailer. A good DC to DC set up and I never worry. Happy travels, PerryG
  19. https://youtu.be/g7xx-AHRjq4 Kinda makes sense.
  20. Awesome, thank you for the info. If no one is installing an Autoformer on the Oliver owners must be doing ok. See ya on thee road, PerryG
  21. Well the Auto former makes sure thee voltage stays within limits as it boosts power by 10 percent when needed. I'm worried about thee compressor on the AC unit runing at the 113volt cut off. Maybe I'm worried for nothing? PerryG
  22. Good morning, we will be taking delivery of our Elite 2 in April. Has anyone hard wired a Hughes 30amp autoformer in the Oliver? We plan on spending winter in the desert and would like to protect against low voltage problems. PerryG
  23. Truck is set up with Solar. We ordered our Oliver without panels as we are always under trees when parked. Solar suitcase and truck panels. DC to Dc charging for us while driving. Will be picking up our Elite 2 First week of April
  24. Lots of great info here as I will be install a victron controller also. The zamp controller just doesn't cut it for me. Thanks to everyone for sharing ideas. PerryG
