  1. Sweet, thanks I will head out there tonight while it is cooler and see if I can get it apart.
  2. We are not able to attend the rally but are heading to Alaska on May 29th with a couple stops along the way. We are planning SE Alaska via Haines, Wrangle-St Elias, Sitka, Valdez, Kenai with bear flight to Katmai, Denali, Barrow and more. We post daily on www.twolanetouring.com so maybe we will run into each other. Small place I hear:)
  3. Well that did not work unless I did not do it sufficiently. It appears clean and dry. I am attaching photo. Any other suggestions as to a cause or how I might clean this better? Appreciate any help.
  4. Thanks, I will go over and check that out this afternoon. Appreciate the advice.
  5. The lights that come on when hooked up to the tow vehicle (the little ones on the sides and back of trailer) come on occasionally while the unit is in storage with no hookups of any kind. Anyone know where I begin to look to figure this out. I have zero idea.
  6. Just our experience - I am not very technical about all the details. We bought the Honda 2200i in the summer and we were very glad to have it along on our three week fall trip. We had 5 days that it did not rain and only three that really were clear. So the solar was of minimal value. I used the generator 9 times. Camping at Acadia NP for five days (no services) we would have been well out of power. We ran it for about an hour or hour and a half and that was sufficient. We also used the microwave easily but we made certain the hot water and fridge were on gas. It also ran my wife's hairdryer and our coffee brewer. Anyway, it starts well, runs fairly quiet and did exactly what we needed. I carry it locked with a cable under the locked cover on our truck. www.twolanetouring.com
  7. Thanks for the advice. They did actually register sometime from my first post on Sunday to this afternoon. I am leaving, if the hurricane doesn't disrupt too much, this Saturday for three weeks in New England, lots of opportunity to test the system. Again, thanks, appreciate the counsel.
  8. Did you have any issues getting the monitors to register on the tank. I have two, set up the app and tried to get them to register on the tanks. I had three tanks, one empty, one partial and one new. Both monitors will only read them as empty. I have read the minimal instructions, the bottom is relatively clean, positioned in the center, stable (not even on the trailer yet) and the signal strength suggests that is not the issue. I left them for over five minutes and have reloaded the app once time. Any advice? Thanks.
  9. Great to have other blogs posted, we will check them out. Our blog is www.twolanetouring.com. Our goal is to visit and photograph the 417 National Park Service units and that is the primary reason we purchased our Oliver Elite. Our blog has been active for over three years and we post at least a photograph every day. On travel we do a daily diary and I have dedicated sections to camping sites, restaurants and galleries of the National Park sites we have visited and photographed (but always running behind on that!) There are about 150 galleries up. We also have photos of the Oliver under "gear" and gradually add upgrades to the photos - most of those ideas came from this forum. We will complete New England parks over the next four weeks. There are the occasional short essays on camping, costs, photography, planning etc.
  10. Thanks for the nice mention, glad to have you cyberly along. If your plans change or you get toward Raleigh this winter, give us a shout.
  11. Not sure where you are but if it is MA, we are headed to RI, Cape Cod, New Bedford and Hingham MA on our way to Maine in two weeks. We travel in an Elite and though there are two of us, we love it and glad to show you our Oliver on the way. Not, of course, to the island! We will be in at Wompatuck State Park for three nights and Sandwich for two.
  12. Thanks for the recommendation. I never saw that product before and have been unsuccessful looking for something that works. Anyway, I ordered two today and just FYI for anyone, they were a very good price at Tweety's RV, an online store, that had them for $34 each. Way under Amazon. Thanks, again. 13. We have had our Oliver for 30 months and it has not been completely smooth as we have had issues with heat in two locations where heat was critical - it was in the low 30's several nights. However the Oliver folks were helpful, you could talk to them and, eventually, the elusive issue was resolved. Or at least we hope so as we leave for Maine in two weeks! Yet we are very happy with the choice made to buy an Oliver over other brands. It is easy to tow, easy to clean, easy to park, easy to live with and in - and we are at 27,000 miles in the little one. Last weekend I went to an RV show here in Raleigh. I went because I thought I might get a portable surge protector on sale, I did not. But I walked in and out of 50/60 RVs and, other than one for $425,000 (anyone find me on gofundme:) there were very few we would even sleep in. And I cannot imagine what they would look like at the end of three years and thousands of miles. Yes, we are very glad we bought the Oliver. www.twolanetouring.com
  14. Buzzy Sorry this was so long but I was unable to get on for a while. Anyway, the new site is up, www.twolanetouring.com and under the header at the top right, National Park Sites by States, you can scroll down to Mass. and there you will find six Lowell photos. That is all for now. But we are heading back to Boston area in September so there will be lots more from the general area and maybe more from Lowell. Dave
  15. Buzzy Thanks. We visited Lowell last fall and I have three or four pictures posted but they are back a while in the site. I am working on a new site that will be up soon and it will have a way to navigate to the various NP sites. Those photos will post there when it is done. As soon as it is complete I will post the new URL. We love NH and the White Mountains. Dave
  16. Thanks, folks for the welcome. Our schedule moved up considerably and we will pick up the trailer Monday after Easter. We located a nice used Ford Explorer Sport Trac with a V8 and factory towing package so we are set. Not sure what else we need but I picked up a couple of items from reading this forum. Thanks. We are now based in Raleigh, NC after 25 years in Williamsburg Va. As to where, I plan to photograph the 409 National Park administrated sites. So, everywhere. I am working on a new web site but my current photography site is: dave-hileman.squarespace.com No pets on board.
  17. We just bought the display model of the 2015 Elite. Came home and bought a used truck and will return sometime in April or May to pick up the trailer. Dave and Cindy
