Moderators bugeyedriver Posted January 22, 2015 Moderators Posted January 22, 2015 OK, let's get to know each other a bit . . . there are many unique handles we use as our "stage names" on the forum and lots of new people on board. It might to be fun to know how we selected our handles. I'll start: BUGEYEDRIVER - I own a 1959 Austin Healy BUGEYE Sprite roadster (known as a FROGEYE in England) and enjoy wandering around the Texas Hill Country, with the top down and a smile on my face. Commanche Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Commanche....Was a horse we bought for our youngest son, when he was a teen, over 30 years ago. He rode him till he turned 16, and decided cars were more his speed. I rode him for a few years till my colt was ready to ride, then my wife Carol rode him till he passed on about 5 years ago. He was a fine horse and fun to ride. The horse chapter in our life is closing, still have one old retired boy, and opening a new chapter of hitting the road with the new Ellite II. cpaharley2008 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 cpaharley2008, well I'm a retired forensic accountant and used to ride hogs before camping. Traded my harley for my tow vehicle. Camping and riding compete with one another so I made a choice. the 2008 was the first year of camping.
Moderators mountainborn Posted March 20, 2015 Moderators Posted March 20, 2015 While deployed in the South China Sea Naval operating area, I stopped writing and my Grandmother was getting worried. She wrote the following poem that was published in a hard bound book of America's Poets and Song writer's. Yep, Gran'Ma' named me ! > MOUNTAIN BORN ( To my naval grandson, Larry ) Child of the mountains, how do you fare In the flat-lands down by the sea. . . . You who stood on high mountain peaks And gazed at far horizons. . . . and took delight In ever-changing shadows on the desert, or sight Of stooped prospector far below, Trudging with burro, and pack on his back, Always searching for the yellow ore. . . . Smiled at the chuckawalla’s antics. . . . Learned to respect the rattler’s whirr. . . . Watched the cactus wren. . . . Found the coyote’s den. . . . Tell me, how do you fare? Do you dream of canyons you have known, And a tamarack tree that sings. . . . Of turquoise skies. And laughing eyes. . . . Tell me, how do you fare?
