Hi all, we have the Norcold three way refrigerator that has a large vent on the bottom with three air intake slats and a smaller one on top with I believe five slats.  I installed three metal screens on the lower one to keep bugs out.  It's designed for that purpose so should work well.  Does anyone do anything on the upper vent?  If I was a smart bug I would just enter through the top uncovered vent.  I don't want to go too crazy and impede the exhaust air unless it's ok.

Thanks, John

Yes, John,

Oliver used to sell those upper screens...don't know if they still do.  We used small zip ties to hold them in place.  Been there for 3+years...no problems.

Good Luck,

John

Amended...forget the zip ties, not needed.  I was reverting back to my old Casita days :)

Patriotus gave you the correct info!  And the mother ship may still have some in stock.

John

We had Oliver install bug screens on the fridge and furnace at original pick-up.

My cover is 62053  but has the correct dimensions.  The link you sent was for 620505.  I can't find a screen that goes with my number.  The upper outer grill looks the same.  Does your plastic grill have the number 62053?

Thanks @John and Debbie for bringing this to my attention. We have the Dometic vs. Norcold, but when I noticed the $40 for the screen, I thought I could easily fab one.

I had purchased this 6" roll of metal screening from True Value years ago to bug/rodent-proof our home, so this time there was zero additional cost. Turns out 6" was just enough to cover with a 3/4" bend on three sides. It takes a bit of measuring cutting and bending to get it right. Be careful, the screen will draw blood. To attach the screen to the cover I used 2 rivets on each side. When done I had a small hole on each side so cut a small square of foam to fill in these gaps. I think it turned out well, in fact these covers used to be lose even though I purchased new OEM plastic mount screws. With the screens on it took a little push to get into the recess but it's in there tight, no more wiggle!

Second pic shows the tools required and then vent cover installed. If you zoom into the second picture you can just see the rivets on the end and zoom in on the last picture and you can see the screening inside the vent cover.

That looks great. I don’t have that fridge, so no vent, but I do have other areas that need critter protection.
