Moderators topgun2 Posted November 26, 2015 Moderators Posted November 26, 2015 Speaking of which - just how does one roast a turkey in an Oliver? Certainly those of us that have or are soon to have an Oliver do have much to be thankful for. And, Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Moderators SeaDawg Posted November 28, 2015 Author Moderators Posted November 28, 2015 LOL. Wish we had a like button. How'd the smoked turkey turn out? We've done turkeys in a fryer, smoker, rotisserie, and the traditional home oven. Never tried the trash can turkey, nor the chain over open fire, but maybe one of these years. Hope everyone had a great day. Sherry PS We were at home, and did a traditional oven roasted turkey. 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. Moderators Mike and Carol Posted November 28, 2015 Moderators Posted November 28, 2015 The smoked turkey came out great! We had two 11lb turkeys. We dry brined both Tuesday evening and put them in the fridge until Thursday morning. I have a Primo ceramic smoker/grill. Got the temp right at 300, threw on some apple wood and hickory and put the turkey on. Carol did the other in a bag in the oven. Both were good, but the smoked turkey was definitely the winner. We just did a batch of turkey chili with some of the leftovers. Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L
Moderators topgun2 Posted November 28, 2015 Moderators Posted November 28, 2015 Sounds to me like an Oliver rally in Texas for next Thanksgiving so we can all get some of that smoked turkey?
