TimD Posted Thursday at 03:05 PM Posted Thursday at 03:05 PM Hello all, I hope you are enjoying northern camping season. We noted an LE2 pulling into Shore Hills campground in Boothbay, ME during a recent visit to our cabin in the area; hope you had a nice stay. A question - has anyone successfully traveled with a single propane tank installed? We're going for a short trip and one 30 lb. bottle will be more than enough. The bottles have been in winter storage and so are out of the propane compartment. Seems like I need a way to support the clamping bar from below but otherwise I don't see a reason why one bottle would not be OK, provided the loadsharing valve is gas-tight on the unused side. Thanks! TIm 2021 LE2, hull 701
Steph and Dud B Posted Thursday at 03:45 PM Posted Thursday at 03:45 PM It should work. I'd be concerned about the unused pigtail flopping around and damaging the rubber. 1 Stephanie and Dudley from CT. 2022 LE2, Hull #1150: Eggcelsior. Tow vehicle: 2016 GMC Sierra 6.0 gas dually 4x4. Have never heard of winter storage of LP tanks before. LP cannot freeze at any sub-zero temps, even if you're camping on the North Pole! Why not reinstall them both, secure them as designed, and keep them there always? It's OK if one is empty. 3 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!

Thanks Steph & Dud B. JD - The owner of the storage location asked that I not store propane in the space. That's why they are out of the trailer. Best Tim 2 2021 LE2, hull 701
Moderators topgun2 Posted Thursday at 05:17 PM Moderators Posted Thursday at 05:17 PM The only "issue" (in addition to the above mentioned ones) is a possible regulator failure. If you have both tanks connected and the regulator fails at the automatic changeover and/or internal seals, then the other tank is there to stop the flow of propane. I’d put them both back in for the season and just fill one given that’s all you need. I always keep both full, ready for any trip, but agreed would let them go empty in your case, easier to lift out and back in.
