  1. In 2009, I had a Thedford macerater mounted inside my bumper storage area. It was hardwired to the battery. Stinky slinky was gone and I was living large, with my poo pump and a 20 foot extendable hose which collapsed to a 7 foot, easily stored system. A notch in the upper angle bracket of the storage hold was necessary for the larger diameter of the end fitting. If you drill a hole through the back wall of the storage area to run your wire to the battery be sure you DO NOT DRILL A HOLE INTO YOUR GRAY WTER DRAIN LINE. (ahem) Due to the shallowness of the bumper storage area, and the limited vertical distance from the 3" exit line of the trailer, this is not an optimum setup. It can be easily enhanced by raising the nose of the trailer before using the macerator, to allow for a better flow of "stuff" to the macerator. Run a small bit of gray water first, in order to "prime the pump", per se, and then close the gray, open the black, and, when it is complete, follow with the remaining gray. My first pump lived for five years before going off to macerator heaven. The second one suffered an unforgivable abuse by its owner when a white plastic measuring spoon was flushed down the toilet with soapy dish water. ( I didn't see it, OK?) After those two fails, I have returned to the ancient practice of gravity feed through a 3" stinky slinky. It has worked predictably since and I figure if gravity ever fails us, I have bigger problems to worry about. (Like spinning off the earth into space)

  2. Well I couldn't stand it any longer and painted my window shades bright white. My understanding is that the window shades are not available from the manufacture in white so Although not a quick fix mine are now bright white. The plastic and my Krylon Supermax paint for plastic didn't get along real well with some of the shades even after cleaning them with a degreaser. I then tried some of an old stand by Krylon Fusion, I had a limited supply of it in a flat white so used it as a primer then second coated it with the Supermax I'm not sure why this worked but it did and the results are fantastic. There is a lot longer story on this modification for anyone wanting to do it so I won't bore the masses but would have the full story for those interested. Marc

  3. Coy, Land Between the Lakes was our first campground after we picked up our trailer in May. We stayed at Hillman Ferry on the KY side. Nice campground. There are a couple of other campgrounds inside the recreation area. Enjoy! Mike

  4. John, the tongue is between 4 and 5 feet long. However, the adjustable tongue has been deleted from the new models so, unless buying used, that security option would no longer be available.

  6. Name is Tom. Victoria, Texas is my home. I am very interested in this Oliver machine and right at 2 1/2 years away from buying a fiberglass trailer. Haven't decided which one yet but these forums are a gold mine of information and this Oliver seems to be one of, if not the best. I wanted to just toss out a quick message so anyone seeing me in the background hiding and wandering aimlessly doesn't report me. LOL! Anyway, I am now a member of 4 RV forums and one thing I've noticed is how helpful everyone is. What an awesome group of folks. As I get closer to a purchase I am sure I will begin asking many questions. So, thank you for sharing all the valuable information. Maybe someday I can help out a future Lurker like myself.

  7. Hey, Tom. Welcome and lurk away. This is a pretty friendly place with lots of good info and expertise. There are several Oliver's here just north of San Antonio - not too far from Victoria. Mike

  8. Hello Tom Welcome to the Oliver Forums. We are proud owners of the best built Travel Trailers anywhere. You can find some TTs more expensive, but Oliver will work with you to satisfy your requirements as much as reasonably possible. Many of us began "lurking" on the forum but soon learned it is filled with owners that want to assist you in becoming a Ollie family member. You can learn much from reading the posts so enjoy. Put stuff in your profile to also help us to understand who you are. Good Luck coy

  9. I'm very excited for those that will be able to attend. Ann and I have plans for September and won't make it. We were hoping that they would have built a plan around the thread that was started here on the Forum for a Springtime event. Perhaps that could still happen. Anyway, I hope it is a great Rally! Have fun all.
