  1. Hi Tom, The factory-installed backup camera that I have is the Voyager, http://www.asaelectronics.com (1-800-688-3135). It wasn't cheap but to me was well worth me having the Oliver crew install it. There are so many things talked about on the forum that I get the general idea about whether an idea is good or not for me and the backup camera was a good idea. I am very technically challenged so I have to rely on others to help. I had it on as I left during the day and all night as I traveled home. I always knew when something was behind Revilo and I tried to be even more cautious while driving. Hope this helped. Jam49
  2. Hello to all, Now being a 3 day owner I can speak from first hand experience on the cameras. Because of all the excellent suggestions and thoughts before purchasing, I chose having the factory guys install the camera. (Instead of me figuring out what I needed to ask for and what I wanted and installed a a later date). I had it on all the way home. I arrived home at 8:00 CST this morning (Wednesday) (Pick up was Monday but details of that special experience will have to addressed later where I would like to share the what??? I was first to have installed. Not trying to make you guys jealous or anything!! Anyway, just being able to see what was behind Revilo as I was driving home was comforting. I felt it was an extra safety feature. I hadn't thought about it particulary but when I showed Revilo to the grandkids this morning they put on their own show for the camera. Another reason it is worth every penny. Safety of anybody who might accidentally walk behind it that the driver wasn't aware of. I highly recommend the backup camera system. It doesn't provide blue ray disc picture perfection but the driver is aware of what is going on behind Oliver as you are driving down the road or stationary getting ready to move Oliver. jam49 P.S.Because I have had very little sleep the last 3 days, I feel a need to retire for the night. But just in case you can't wait to find out my special installation (sorry for getting off topic) you might ask Steve and Tali. Regards, Jam49
  3. Hi Carol Ann, Hadn't heard from you in a while and was wondering if you had chosen your travel trailer yet. Jam49
  4. Ditto - Love the interior. Congratulations on yall's new baby! Regards, Jam49
  5. Hi Chris and Cherie, Keep us posted when you get to the Austin / San Antonio area. Good Lord willin and the creeks don't rise I will have Revilo in about 2 weeks. Jam49
  6. Just wanted to say thanks to Phil and Denise Underwood. Even though I was there such a short time the experience sure left me wanting to go to more rallys and hopefully be able to go to next year's rally hosted by the Underwoods at the Miller Creek campground. It is as nice as was advertised. Thanks to Pete and Oscar for sharing about "Oliver". My wait is almost over. Regards, Jam49
  7. Thanks for the nice comments. Everybody has been so nice and helpful on so many topics I'm glad I was able to share something useful. Three weeks to go and I'll finally get to bring Revilo home. Cheers! Jam49
  8. Good Morning to all, I just discovered a wonderful website that I read about in the March 2009 Good Sam Highways magazine. The website is http://www.forestcamping.com for anybody interested.
  9. Hello Sharpe, Have you looked at the new information on the olivertraveltrailers.com website? This will give you an idea about prices. Also, I don't care much for salesman either but you can talk to Robert Partee at Oliver. He patiently answered my 1000 questions and never once asked me when I was going to buy anything. He answered my questions and let me make up my own mind if I wanted to buy an Oliver. After all the research I did I chose to buy an Oliver because I believe it is the best travel trailer in production - better than Airstream or Casita and I like both of them very much. I found that no travel trailer fits every person's needs. I wish you well on your journey of the ultimate travel trailer for you which ever one it is. Regards,jam49
  10. Tom, This is my third try to send you a message. I submitted the PM but nothing is showing that it went anywhere so here are a few topics that I searched that had a number of posts: gas quick connect, inverter, lighting, microwave, thermostat, tires, travel trailer empty weight, vents, water filtration. Hope you have a wonderful holiday. Thanks for your help. Jam49
  11. Yes!!! Excellent. How can I help? Jam49
  12. My apologies for not sticking to the subject. I'will try to be more careful in the future. Yall are much more creative than I am so I am going to leave naming the group up to you. Fun names sure are being suggested!
  13. What about 2008001 or 08001, 2009050 or 09050, etc. for whatever vin number is appropriate for the year?
  14. Another thought - After A-Z are used up the number could start over every 27th year and go A1, then B1, etc. then the next 27th year A2 then B2, etc. What about listing the range of vin numbers from 2008, then the range from 2009 and so on? This way counting wouldn't have to be started over after every 26th year.
  15. Kyle, I just looked at the Toyota link you provided. Most useful as you said. I feel the essence of the style could be adapted for the Oliver forum use . Mountainborn and Tom - what are your thoughts? jam49
  16. Kyle, You worded my thoughts better than I could. If we want oodles of information we could use the search engine and with a manual with the description you gave the reader would get a simple? answer for a particular topic question without having to decipher as you made point of. I love to read the travel trailer magazines and I have been tearing out the tips column. I have the tips, dream accessories, etc. organized in my own put together of this and that travel trailer manual. Now that I have found my dream trailer, I can sort through the tips that I can use and get rid of the rest that won't apply. I love the tip about holding the sacrificial anode exactly straight - who would have known except by someone with experience. Thanks to all who are contributing to this endeavor no matter how it turns out. It is such a pleasure communicating on the Oliver forum because everybody is so polite and well-mannered. jam49
  17. Tom, Mountainborn suggested the search engine to find the topics of interest. It sure makes sense to me as I learn how to find the topics I want to read. Before you go to the trouble of what I originally thought was a good idea can you see a use for a manual that is more efficient than the search engine? What are your thoughts on a TIPS forum? If a post doesn't necessarily have TIPS in it how would it be called up? Jam49
  18. Mountainborn, Why didn't I ask you first? I am no techie and I am learning a lot. I just didn't want to lose all the good information. Using the search engine seems to be the answer. You got way ahead of me on the technical stuff. If that information is needed in depth searching, googling and best of all, asking for the expertise of the Oliver forum crew seems to be the way to go. No use inventing something that is already there - just a little different than I had in my mind. It seems like the best thing to do would be to scrap the online manual except for a real Oliver manual or the DVD and go for TIPS. Thanks for the input. Jam49
  19. Steve, I love your idea of Oliver Manual Forum. I sure don't want the spontenaity? of the forum to go away. it is too much fun reading the new posts and topics that come up. Maybe the posted topics could eventually be moved somehow to the tree/alphabetical design for ease of searching for information. Keep the suggestions coming! Jam49
  20. Thanks Seadawg and Mountainborn Can this info be added to the manual when it gets up and running? This is such helpful information. When I finally get Revilo I think I am going to move into Revilo out in the driveway. Poor thing- it might get so lonely. jam49
  21. Hi Tom, Yes your idea makes sense. For people like me who have a lot to learn, maybe it won't be too much work to have a "tree structure" and an alphabetical list some how under the tree to call attention to topics that are important but may be overlooked. Maybe curiosity would cause somebody else like me to research an important topic such as the sacrificial anode that I might have not discovered for a while. To me a water heater was a water heater until ------I learned about the sacrificial anode and the importance of it relating to water heaters. To save space online I think it would be good, with permission of the posters, to have the relevant discussion in the manual and not the goodnatured banter unless others think it necessary. Strictly thoughts for discussion. My hope is that this manual will additionally have the extra "tips" (keep the rv level when storing, check the battery water level?, check the voltage? etc. These are a few more of my thoughts. With all the wonderful expertise out there this can't help but be a most useful manual (strictly my opinion.)Thanks,Jam49
  22. Thanks for the update. I will be buying a spare or two just in case. Jam49
  23. Are all sacrifical anode's the same? Do I need to worry about the right size?
  24. Already I see I forgot to add Mountainborn's suggestion of documents and diagrams. I need to add that under D. Jam49
  25. Tom, Since I haven't seen the Oliver manual yet and not knowing how to transfer typed information from a spread sheet, I decided to share my idea here for further critique, etc. (not inclusive of all that can be, just what I have thought of so far) A - Antisway equipment B - Back up system Batteries Boondocking - why this or that is better for Oliver Brake controller Bumper pins C- Cables Cell phone booster Cover for Oliver D - E - Electrical Entertainment system F - Flooring - length and width interior Freshwater tank G - Gel coat Generator - Gas, diesel Graphics Gray water tank H - I - Inverter / Charger J,K L - Lights Halogen LED M - Mattress Microwave Monitor N O - Online websites P - Photo upload Power Propane Q - Quick connect R - Registration refrigerator S - Sacrificial Anode Satellite system Shower hose - benfit of Oxygenic, regular Solar panel system Suction cup T - Tires Thermostat TV swing arm Trailer tongue storage basket Telescoping trailer tongue Twelve volt plugs U V - Ventilation W - Water filtration Water heater Window panes - single or double Weight - Oliver Winterizing X,Y,Z. I hope to be able to view the Oliver manual online someday and use this one (if it happens) as a supplementary using the wonderful online posts. Everybody please join in yea or nea, this or that added, deleted or added to. Thanks for yall's help. Jam49
