  1. Sherry, I have admired the beautiful buildings, water fountains, common picnic area coverings in several of the parks here in Texas. Bastrop State Park near Austin, Texas has several works of the CCC. I think Palmetto State Park further south in Texas has more of the CCC works. It would be a fun journey to visit all the places in Texas where the CCC left its legacy ( as well as in all the other states). Thanks for sharing. Jam49
  2. Chuck and Geri, Congratulations and best wishes. Jam49
  3. Glad u made it home ok. It was the same storm we were running from as we left Kansas for Arkansas. Glad yall made it home safely also. Sure enjoy reading about all yalls comins' and goins', the videos, photos, etc. j
  4. After I reread the Oliver Owners Group, I do recall. At the time it didn't register with me just how special my online friends (even our Casita and other fiberglass trailer friends) would become. Thanks for Cherie's, Mountainbor's, Sherry's suggestions and ALL others who have contributed to this topic. Jam49
  5. Hello to all, I only wrote about my concern because my Oliver Forum friends have become so special to me. Because we are spread out all over this beautiful land of ours and may never meet in person, we do seem to have a special bond - the love of our Oliver and everything involved whether a trip, problem, solution, video, photo, etc. (Perish the thought that this forum would go away!!!) I don't know how I missed the thread about "the contact list" but I am going to hunt it up as soon as I post this. I am very glad Scubarex has an almost completed master list. Now back to the joy of the holidays!!!!!!! jam49
  6. Again, Thanks to all for sharing more ideas about taking care of our Olivers. I just ordered the xtreme heater and quick release. No freezing temperatures forecast here for the next few days. Heater is supposed to be here in a few days. I sure like Mountainborn's heat tape job but I not confident in my abilities to do the same! jam49
  7. Just wonderin' - I had a sad thought - What if the Oliver Forums went offline? How would we communicate about our Olivers?
  8. Pete or Aubrey, What size xtreme heater for the Oliver? 300, 450 or 600 w? thanks,Jam49
  9. Pete, Fellow Texan! Do you not vouch that that type of weather actually happens in Texas?! Ok, ok ---- - I will reveal what this mysterious trip was all about. No angel of mercy - just doing something I love. My most enjoyable side job when I am not working at school is driving cars. Since the car dealership at my destination was closing at noon on Thursday and unpleasant weather was predicted I allowed plenty of time to get there before closing. They knew I was bringing them a car and bringing back the car the customer here wanted. We swapped paperwork and keys in all of about 10 minutes and I was on my way back home. Also, I had to get this car back to the car dealership here before early closing time so that they would have it for the customer. One of the most enjoyable trips I have made in a long time in spite of the weather. My furtherest 10 minute turn around trip was an 18 hour trip because of - all things - rainy weather and DEER covered roads. Travelin" is my passion however I can get it accomplished - far or near - Hikin', bikin', tradin' cars or most enjoyable of all - camping in Revilo!
  10. I had to make a quick 600 mile trip Thursday. I left at 4:30 in the morning anticipating heavy rains and possibly bad weather. As I was getting further into east Texas, I saw evidence that it had already rained heavily over a very wide area. As I was driving the weather was cloudy, misty, cold but not unbearable. When I arrived at my destination, I was informed that a tornado had touched down east of town earlier and traveled on the ground about 20 to 25 miles. (fortunately nobody was injured) Since it didn't take just a few minutes to accomplish my mission, I got back in the car to head home. As I was leaving I was informed that it was supposed to start snowing any minute. I politely said thanks for the information and that I would be careful driving home - it was 50 degrees outside and it was supposed to SNOW???? I hope a look of disbelief didn't show on my face! Welllllllllllllll - to continue the story and as the saying goes "only in Texas" - I headed for home in cloudy, misty but not too bad of weather to drive in. When I got further down the road - about 125 miles - the sun broke out of the clouds, I saw the blue sky and white, fluffy clouds. Not too much further down the road, it suddenly clouded up again, got real rainy and thennnnnnnn - strange stuff began falling from the sky. There were all sizes of SNOWFLAKES beginning to fall. I kept driving because it began snowing heavily and I didn't want to be stuck out on the road still far from home. Then, as suddenly as it started snowing it stopped because I had once again driven where the sun was shining. Long story short - I made it home fine, mission accomplished. I must have experienced the bottom of that massive storm that passed over the US. I still wish all a very happy holiday with family and friends. jam49
  11. Merry Christmas to all my neighbors just a little further apart. Jam49
  12. Hi Sherry, I binged heat proof adhesive tape and then clicked on the airplane parts website that had a lead of heatproof tape. I emailed the company and they sent me three catalog pages of different kinds of tape. I don't have a clue which if any of the tapes listed can be used on fiberglass. Eventually I will get back to researching this. j
  13. Hi Tumbleweed, I bought the Extreme Vent and the extension piece from Coil and Wrap with the intention of putting it on myself. The video instructions that are online seemed simple enough but I decided to let the Camping World guys attach it for me after I saw the black pipe was off center and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to fix it correctly. I watched as he sawed off the top cap down to the round base. I was ok with that because of the steps I saw in the installation video He put a stronger adhesive putty than I would even have known to use. I wrote down the name of the adhesive so that I would know what to use for maintenance in the future. I am with the grandkids so I will look it up when I am home and let you know. Sadly the only place I have been since it was installed was to bring Revilo home. If you decide to install the Extreme Vent on your Oliver would you let me know if you decide to put one over the shower vent? I wasn't sure if it even needed one so I only ordered the one. jam48
  14. That person was DC Kiefer for the bubble insulation.
  15. Hi Sherry, I bought the Extreme Vent to replace the holding tank vent that came with Oliver and had it installed the day before Thanksgiving. I just added more silver bubble lining - this time I added it to the closet by the door.(thanks to ?? who originally posted about adding the silver bubble lining to the upper storage areas ) I hope to figure out some way to put a raised flooring in the closet by the door because I am afraid I will accidentally cause the wires to be pulled out. I also bought two very soft, fluffy square pillows to replace the cushions that I took from the small dinette that I am now using as support for the big table bed. I couldn't wait til Xmas to accessorize Revilo. It is an ongoing process. I am also too impatient to wait until I can take Revilo camping so I still just camp in the driveway every chance I get. Snow has been forecast for Friday so I hope to enjoy spending the night in my cozy little camper. Sorry for getting off topic! Having an Oliver is just too much fun! It is such a joy to keep up with everybody by way of the forum. To all - keep up the informative, enlightening, and entertaining posts. Jam49 Now I have to search for the person who originally posted about the bubble lining so I can give him credit.
  16. To All My Friends Just a Little Further Apart, I also wish that everybody has a most wonderful holiday with family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving. J
  17. I echo the same sentiments. It was such a pleasure to deal with Robert and I too wish him and his family nothing but the best. Jam49
  18. Hi Doug, Is your Voyager system called the Wireless Observation System? Did the manufacturer say why they were stopping production? Jam49
  19. Thanks Sherry and DC. I hadn't thought of checking the AC on the roof. I did buy a telescoping ladder so that I can always have a ladder to get on the roof if I have to. Also, I am trying to keep the outside washed and waxed. I tried the Thetford bug remover which seems to work pretty good. Any suggestions for a good sponge, cloth, etc for rubbing the outside when cleaning? Is there any particular type of soap - gel, fiberglass, or other work that really works where each time the rv is washed that there isn't much effort the next time because of the previous washing? Thanks for the ideas of things to check. I am just going to have to go camping in the driveway tonight! Haven't been camping since I took the grandkids right before school started. Anyway, the weather is getting cooler- supposed to be around 50 degrees tonight and I want to check out the heater. To all my friends just a little further away - While you are camping, I hope the stars get in your eyes, you get to feel the wind blowing gently, and your camping excursions are nothing but the best! Jam49 Sherry, Could you PM me? I have a question. Thanks J
  20. As I was giving Revilo a good cleaning my eye glanced at the filter on the ceiling. It looked funny so I took it apart and discoverd that the "funny" was dust. I immediately stopped my other cleaning and took the two filter strips out and washed and dried them before reinserting them. I wonder how many other things I need to take care of that I will accidentally discover. Any suggestions about other cleaning tips, things to be aware of, etc? Jam49
  21. I just finished lining the upper cabinets with the silver bubble liner that I got at Camping World. I taped it to the fiberglass and the rubber with heavy duty gray duct tape for the purpose of "insulating from moisture". Monday a.m. (4 or so) CST a heavy rainfall passed through. It was raining when I left for work and I didn't get home until after dark to go check whether the liner helped keep the moisture away from the inside of the camper or the cabinets. It is cold now - around 56 degrees and it is plenty humid because of the rainfall. It is supposed to be cooler this weekend (around 70 degrees). I am hoping to try my little Lakewood 1500 watt portable heater then. This moisture control thing is a work in progress! I used some stuff I bought at the store which worked exactly as it was supposed to buuuuttt it worked too good. I don't remember what it was but it filled up with the moisture like overnight and it was about $4 for a little container. I am thinking that I have to find a better moisture trapper than spending $4 a night on moisture control. I have a comment about the filters which I will start another topic. Good night to all and keep the e tremely beneficial discussions going. I do appreciate alll of you sharing your knowledge. jam49
  22. I forgot to ask. What suggestions are there for where and how to store the sewer hose and connections when traveling? I saw a storage box for the macerator pump and accessories that was at Camping World. J
  23. Chuck and Geri, This information is most helpful also. Wonder if I can use the blue end piece that DC posted a picture of? I sure like how the hose can be lifted and fitted on the dump valve with the blue end piece. It's off to the store for me now that I have a better idea of what is needed without buying too many connecting pieces. Is there an average?? length of hose needed while at a campground? J
  24. I find it not so easy to explain my thoughts with just words typed on a screen. I love my Oliver and Robert and the factory guys are the best!
  25. Thanks for the pictures. I am so confused about which system to use. I have looked at the portable electric system at Camping World that is supposed to grind all waste to less than 1". I have looked at the connections that are clear so that it is known when the black water holding tank is empty. I have not had the opportunity to "go camping" in Revilo yet (other than in the driveway with the grandkids) so it is just as well that an opportunity hasn't come up to really go camping. I am taking it slow on learning everything I can before taking that first real trip after pickup at the factory and staying overnight at the campground. Of course the sewer system hookup is a major issue even when at a campground. In the picture it looks like the 1"?? bar hanging down is cut away for a little ways. I asked Robert if they factory guys could cut out a little bit of that overhang bar so it would be easier to connect the sewer hose. When you say this is a permanent fix are you able to close the "gate" on the silver rectangular holding box for lack of a better way to describe it? Thanks again for the pictures.
