  1. I forgot to ask. Can deep cycle marine batteries be used interchangeably with Oliver?
  2. Hello to all, I am on the verge of ordering for pickup in December. That's the only time I have enough days off from work to go to Tennessee from Taylor, Texas. Doug, My husband and I were over your way Saturday. We took some cows to the auction. Love the drive over there. The forum topics have been terrific in helping me decide what options are the best for me. I have spoken to Robert on the phone several times and thru email. He truly is a very nice person to work with. I am working with him to finalize my order. Thanks for all the dialog about batteries, and gas hoses, and outlets and ............ It has helped me sort out what options are best for our Ollie.
  3. Herm, Congratulations on biting the bullet and ordering an Elite. You'll LOVE it The Wonder Egg has the 9200 BTU Coleman Polar Cub A/C. I have two wall mounted thermostats located on the wall to the left of the galley. One for the furnace, and the other fot the A/C unit which also controls the heat strips on the A/C. They both work very well. If your A/C would have unit mounted controls, I'm sure there'd be a thermostatic control, but I'm not sure the fan would quit once the desired temp was reached, if you wanted to set it in that mode. (If anyond knows different, please chime in) Have you considered adding additonal 12V outlets for convenience? I have 3 extra and have used them all at times. Another option I find handy is the aluminum basket mounted in front electric jack. Ive'd used it for carrying a generator or strapping down some pre-cut, split firewood. Welcome to the Oliver family.
  4. Hi Doug, Thanks for the input. It is this kind of information that is helping me understand and decide if I need something or if I don't need it. I still have lots of questions but everybody posting is so helpful and I am getting lots of wonderful information. I have a master list of things that I think I want. Of course, the final price will dictate whether I get to have everything I wish for or if I will have to eliminate some options. I am hoping my finances will allow me to order in December. Now if I could only figure out how to copy the posts that I need when I am reading them so I don't have to reread all of them to find the information that will apply for me! Thanks again. jam49
  5. Hi Chris and Cherie, I have lots of questions also. Just exactly what is an inverter/charger and why would I need one? How do I know how powerful one to get? Where do you store your cord since you put the charger where it would have gone? Thanks, jam49
  6. Hi CarolAnn, I agree with Pete. I just want a travel trailer, but which one with what stuff! Casita came the closest to what I want UNTIL Ollie came along. For all the reasons stated in previous posts, you can't go wrong with an Ollie even if it is just the basic. I haven't even seen one yet but because of my research I feel the Ollie is exactly what I am looking for. I am also trying to get my financing in order before the cost is out of reach for me. I would enjoy talking to you on the phone if you are interested. You can let me know by PM. Jam49
  7. Hi CarolAnn, I almost ordered a Casita because I like the concept of what they offer. I couldn't get past the "carpet" on the wall which is the biggest reason I didn't order. I wondered how I would clean it. Anyway, I was reading June's Trailer Life magazine and as fate would have it, I saw an ad about the Oliver. I put the magazine down and started researching on my computer. The Oliver forum has been tremendously helpful to me as I research about Oliver. Some of the topics discussed are ones that I wouldn't even have know to ask or think about. Thanks for your questions and comments as well as all others who have so unselfishly shared the good and not so good so that all who are interested in owning an travel trailer can have a richly, satisfying RV experience when they finally get to have their OWN OLLIE! My research as to what kind of travel trailer I should get has ended. As soon as personal circumstances permit I want to order the Oliver Deluxe. Keep up the wonderful dialogue as it has been very helpful to me and I am sure it has been just as helpful to the other readers. Thanks, jam49
  8. Thanks for sharing such useful information. I am putting my Oliver wish list together and you have given me additional things to think about. Thanks again
