  1. Rivernerd, I have the the storage procedures, but Mike at Oliver said to recharge to 100% before reinstalling. I will follow the your advice to reduce to 50%…store a t house., etc. thanks
  2. Clarification: “unheated warehouse” meant to say no electrical outlets. Therefore, the internal heater system is not an option for a 5 month period at freezing temps. My previous lithium camper was left covered in my driveway with 110 power and an electric heater. Batteries were fine, except 500 inches of snow…roof damage. Therefore my new significant investment will be stored one hour west in a RV warehouse I have had light usage of my Ollie due to water pressure issues over a 2 month period. Finally resolved. Only 30 nights …not performed a RSV reset yet. Will probably wait till spring. I purchased a CAMCO. Double 15 amp converter to 30 Amp for my household power setup. No need to call an electrician. Works great. I will store my batteries at home at 50% SOC. I will continue to research the need to recharge them at home before reinstalling them, per Mike’s instruction. Again, I fail to see why the trailer Victron system can’t be utilized to recharge . It has worked well all summer.
  3. I am preparing my 2X 320 AH lithiums for winter storage...5 months in a unheated warehouse with <32 degree nights. The Lithionics website requires removal of the batteries at 50% SOC....for home storage. According to Mike at Oliver, I will need to recharge them to 100% BEFORE the spring install, requiring a separate lithium charger. Why is it not possible to utilize the trailer system to recharge to 100%. I fail to understand the logic. Assuming the need to purchase a separate charger...any suggestions. Thx Steve
  4. John, I already installed Firestone airbags per your instructions. In an effort to reduce overland gear weight, I removed the 270 awning (54LBS). Remember, I have deleted the second & third row seats which offsets the ARB drawers. I will delete (for this trip) my foldable e-bike which sits behind the driver. So in essence I have only the armored belly & roof rack. also took your advice on tire size. LT285/60R18 ...General Grabber A/TX Needless to say, I will not have a need for my roof mounted overland gear, extra water, no genny, etc. The 30LB propane tanks will add an extra empty wt of 12LBS but as a general rule only half full, offsetting 10 of the 12 LBS. I wanted the extra capacity to feed my propane fire pit for extended boondocking. For some strange reason I ordered the front rack, which will be empty. The BIG QUESTION.... WILL SHE FLOAT?? Solid fiberglass construction...reminds me of my boat. I will be returning home around May 1st...maximum flood conditions. I want to avoid the Denver/ Eisenhower Tunnel climb. Going north via Poudre Canyon or to IH80 via Laramie/Walton or Cresent/Craig are flood prone areas. Craig is already flooded. The southern route via New Mexico/ Moab may be my only option. Long route with many possible wash out areas. Should be fun. Just kidding about the boat. Cheers, Steve
  5. appreciate the 8-speed tranny info. I did the same process with the lighter Conqueror (3,700 lbs). I realize it will be struggle at higher altitudes, but it is the journey not the speed to the destination. Curiosity looks great. Glad to see the trip is going well.   6. Thanks Mike, I will call Phil on Monday. Need to start pricing insurance…need a VIN. I spent much of my childhood in the late 1950s-1960s on the Box S Ranch in the small Post Office town of Kerrville. The old ranch is now a subdivision. I have a 70 x 25 foot driveway six blocks from downtown Steamboat. The camp fees and electric are free for Ollie owners. However the home toilet flushes are expensive. Steve😆

    I am glad to hear you are safe and happy with the new camper. I have been “ghosting” you for months. Your commentary has been very helpful in my option decisions.

    I had similar considerations of the Kimberley line years ago. We came to the same conclusion.

  8. Thanks everyone for the great support. The apparent quality of construction and amenity package on the new Oliver line seems almost decadent. I am ready for it!! Some timing questions: When are hull and vin numbers normally available? Has the weather and or supply line issues delayed any recent production dates? No doubt, April will be a very LONG month.
  9. Hello Oliver World I have spent the last three summer and shoulder seasons either tent camping out of my Land Cruiser or towing the pictured UEV 490, a South African overland camper. This setup has allowed me to cross many “gatekeepers” in search of remote camping locations. These solo excursions have been awe inspiring and on a more recent trip, harrowing. But alas, a greater power has intervened. My wife and a neighboring doctor friend has commanded this 74 year old kid return from the abyss to a civilized camping life. Today, I sold my beloved 490. I will toast her tonight with some Tennessee whiskey. In a couple of weeks, I will begin a 1,400 mile trek to Howenwald to attend an egg hatching on April 24th. SPOILER ALERT: I have never been within 50 feet of an Oliver. Yes I hear you. “The guy must be an idiot”. My defense: 20 years of camping in fiberglass eggshell Bigfoot campers, five months of perusing u-tube videos and the Oliver forums. As any IH8MUD member or Oliver forum member knows, if it passes the John Davies Seal of Aproval, it must be gold. The purpose of this posting, is to apologize in advance for the heavy load I will no doubt become to the Oliver family. I am more intimidated by the technological advances of this camper than some of my gatekeeper crossings. If alarm bells go off the first night, I will retreat with sleeping bag to my Land Cruiser and fall fast asleep in the fetal position. Deal with the educational curve the next day. For the record, I will not blame John if he blocks me. Looking forward to safe camping with both my family and the Oliver family. Steve Corzette

    I am looking forward to your egg hatching on the 29th. I trust your "lost wandering" will go well. Surely there are some "hills" in Tenn to test the 8 speed tranny. I would appreciate a PM regarding its performance upon your return home.

    My egg hatch is 4/24 with 1,400 miles west over the Continental Divide. Any additional info on the 200 series towing will be helpful.

  12. Practical applications of Newton's three laws of motion. Commercial potable water /milk tanks cannot be baffled like gasoline tanks. Federal law also mandates these trucks be either 100% full or completely empty when in motion. A 2,500 gal water truck fills up a rural residential property 2,000 gal house tank. The truck is required to dump the remaining 500 gals on the property without moving the truck. The heavy dual axle truck is virtually uncontrollable with forces of only 500 gals of moving water in the tank. Now, I realize 32-70 gals of partially filled tanks generate smaller forces. However, after 20 years of towing a 21' Bigfoot trailer between Alaska to Baja Sur, I always traveled with a full tank or on occasion an empty one. The weight difference was always noticeable even with my 2001 Duramax 2500. I pick up a new Ollie in late April. I will fast track back to Colorado perhaps on a route encompassing a 10,000 ft pass. I only have a 200 series Land Cruiser which is not the best TV. I will be traveling most days with an empty fresh water tank. Fortunately, I have ordered a composting toilet, so no black water. My pursuit for improved safety preempts any inconvenience of a public shower facility or, as an old backpacker, a one gal ***** bath. Should be fun!
  13. They hung around for a few days feasting on the crab apple trees and creek bed . Kinda hard on the dog walks. Last week, I opened the front door at 9PM and looked up at mama three feet way. Sorry no pics....had to do laundry.
