  1. Just to clarify, I do not have the Zamp system and I have a DC compressor fridge, so my questions are just out of curiosity.

If your display shows power usage, how much did you find that a day of fridge use consumed? What were the environmental conditions during your test, outside inside temps, I take it you just switched an already chilled fridge to DC only?

It is definitely interesting, as the amount of power required for DC to generate to the heat needed to run the ammonia process should be fairly sizable.

So, if nothing is running, what do you find the max output of the Zamp system to be?

    Thanks

    Edit: Just came across this

  2. Yup, that's a corporate CYA situation. There's no way they want any part of any liability, so "we would not recommend it" and warn against it and now that Oliver has checked they have no choice but to follow the recommendation and change their literature. Can't really say that I blame them, this thread sounds like a perfect example of people looking for a permanent fixed definitive answer, so at a later date they can use it against them. The same reason why a doctor is instructed to never say "sorry" for anything, it is seen as admitting guilt.

However, as in most situations, common sense should prevail and personally I feel safer with the trailer being listed by an attached jack, with a large for pas, rated for 3,000 lbs vs a 3,000lb floor jack with wheels, that rolls, or especially a thin, small point, bottle jack, with a smaller base contact.

In looking it, I did find that it is recommended that the cover on the jack be removed once a year and inspected.

    From Baxter

"Before replacing cover, clean matging surfaces.

If lubrication is needed, use Mobilith 460 grease or equivalent."

  3. Welcome. You will find that quite a few of the people here started their research with the Airstream and ended up here. Last testrear Oliver made a big comment about now being international, that being they had a Canadian purchaser, maybe they can answer your questions about the best way to navigate the financing of it, after all their end goal is the sale.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

  4. Are you attached to city water or is 2 min just how long it takes for the pump to kick in for pressure drop? Does it only come out at full pressure and then just drizzle until it reaches bottom of the pressure switch?

  5. Just a thought too keep in the back of your head, the little 2000's are particular to being level, so if it faults off, check this first, it seems the oil system is pretty flat and doesn't see any if too far off. Just my experiences

  6. The three jacks are rated for 9,000lbs, all together, even a trailer with all the options is just over 6,000 (not counting Steve's)

I've had all four of the ground in my driveway, when I replaced the suspension, just enough off and with stacked 6x6 lumber under frame corners as a just in case. No issues and no drop in any jack height.

I would think that the method by which the jacks are attached to the frame is better weight loading than a single point lift directly under the aluminum. Just my experiences...

  7. Sherry,  I haven't "permanently" sealed them off, I haven't figured out which way I would like to go. My semi-permanent solution, so far, has been that the bubble wrap insulation I lined the back of the cabinet with the insulating bubble wrap it was first laid into all the contours so that it was built up to make an ultimate flat wall, each layer was taped in place with aluminum flashing tape. So overall, from the vent perspective it is completely tight up against the opening. From the outside, I had some left over 1/32 thick hard sheet vinyl from a crappy tub surround that I cut to fit the opening, with the top part slid in behind the opening and the bottom on the outside of the lip, so that any water that gets in runs out and the vent cover is enough to keep it place. While I don't consider it permanent, everything about it works if it is still there 10 years from now.

  8. We went the larger TV route, ours is unmounted, sometimes it goes with us sometimes it doesn't. I'm partial to the Samsung 4Ks, with how thin and light they are now they are easy enough to move around. I no longer bother with trying for antenna reception, the only thing I pay for is a YouTube TV subscription, it is the only one I'm aware of that offers ALL local channels, for whatever markets they cover, so when I went to Chicago it would look at where I was and play those channels along the way with all my stored recordings.

We don't watch much, so the data use isn't that intensive. In severe weather it is nice to find a local Redbox and rent a DVD, when on the road, to watch on a good sized screen, fed from the Oliver DVD unit with all the speakers going, it's like being in a theater.

  9. Overland, I have to agree, that fridge is gorgeous!

I don't know where you travel to, but I would be concerned with that venting Oliver installed, the Isotherm minimum required is 15 sq. in. and it looks like that vent plate is a max of 6 sq. in. without a fan forcing more air through it, the natural convection process does not have enough space to perform properly. Whether this results in poor performance or shortened life, due to overworking to compensate, I would definitely keep a close eye on it, in hotter areas where it might not be able to keep up.

  10. I'm sorry, but neither of these relate to trailer security to me. One is activated by exposure to light, so where do you put it and what you hope the thief will open whenever it is? At least it has a built in cellular connection, but unless it's on Verizon most places I'm concerned about wouldn't be covered and even then only sketchy coverage. The other being "jostled" I'm pretty sure (as in trailer moving down the highway) is it off my WiFi range.

Both of these also only allow for a "notification" with work my phone goes off all the time, so some times things are only seen when gotten to, so the end result here would be, damn looks like someone stole the trailer about an hour ago...

I'll stick with my satellite based notification and tracking, purchase price and almost 3 years service included for same price as Simtek

  11. There is no edit function. When responding with a Fire, we can’t see what we are typing unless we turn the pad. The keyboard covers the response. Hence the need for the edit. The banner with the drip down menu could move up to open the ‘ window?…

Hi Canoe12, please try the edit function now. It should show up now. Could you show a picture of your screen so I can see what it looks like? Thanks!

Nope, it's not there for me either, Samsung Galaxy S7 using chrome browser.
