Hi all, I m looking at doing a trip with my daughter up in Canada, ideally on hiway 40 (Kananaskis Trail) in August. Does anyone here have experience up there? Can you get campsites or boondocks?

We have not camped in Alberta, CA… yet. But it appears that there is plenty of camping available. A quick general query on Campspot.com -

Here too, we really like the campedium app-

Thanks - I’ll go after it! I did this route out of Glacier National Park many years ago and it was exceptional.

We left Pincher Creek and then traveled to Banff and beyond. We took a couple of days and nights in a Toyota Land Cruiser- the early Jeep “knockoff”. The route goes up the spine of the Acadian Rockies.

Hi Toni! Yes, it is great-as you know. We keep it in Fort Collins in the winter. We are traveling in Europe right now, but pick it up in early August and home base it in Jackson until early November. We are considering a West Coast trip sometime this winter - from San Diego to at least Oregon. Thanks for re connecting!

For all pets owners wanting to travel to Canada and back, there are new laws. You will need to visit the Canada and US Rules. You must have well documented vaccine updates signed by your Vet. Prior (24 hrs) to re-entry into the US you must upload a special document. The consequences of not following these new laws will find your pet must remain in Canada for up to 6 weeks. This has been evolving over the past 2+ years.

We filled out the on-line form that @John Dorrer kindly linked. It was just some simple questions.  We then received an Email reply from the Center for Disease Control (CDC Dog Import).

We entered and exited Canada for a 3 hour visit to White Rock, BC yesterday, and will be going again today!  When entering  Canada, we declared our dog and they did't ask for anything.  When returning to the US, I gave them our passports and my cell phone with the CDC Dog Import email.  They looked at the email and said thank you, and let us pass.

Thanks again to John!

Went through the border again today, after about two hours waiting in line with only two of the many gates open.  I handed the US border agent our passports and cell phone with the CDC letter.  He snapped back that the didn't want the letter.  Gees, a little grumpy . . . go figure?

Very easy and smart to have self-restraint when crossing the border to and from Canada. I have a few interesting stories🤣
