Gofigure1149 Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 Has anyone noticed the heads of the screws holding the interior window trim are breaking off. It's like they were all over tightened at the factory weakening or just breaking the heads that are beginning to fall out. Other than drilling out each one does anyone know a remedy for this. Cheap imported screws one issue I think along with wrong screw gun setting.
Moderators SeaDawg Posted January 23, 2021 Moderators Posted January 23, 2021 (edited) I remember this being a problem with some of the 2017s. I haven't heard anything since then. What year is your Oliver? I'll see if I can find a thread for you. Gofigure1149 Posted January 23, 2021 Author Posted January 23, 2021 Thanks. Yes it's a 2017 of course. Lost about 15 through out the trailer so far. I have not tightened them. We just find the heads of the screws laying around and find where they have broken. No rough terrain driving at all.
Moderators SeaDawg Posted January 23, 2021 Moderators Posted January 23, 2021 (edited) Here you go. Just curious, what's your hull number? Looks like most of the others were constructed about the same time. Moderators Mike and Carol Posted January 23, 2021 Moderators Posted January 23, 2021 I have had several break off. My understanding is that it was an issue with the manufacturer of the windows over torquing the screws. Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L
Gofigure1149 Posted January 23, 2021 Author Posted January 23, 2021 What did you guys do about it? Afraid it will start letting water in. Do you know if it's just asthetic or not.? I will check on my Hull number but if memory serves it's 238. Again thanks for all the great input from this forum
Moderators Mike and Carol Posted January 23, 2021 Moderators Posted January 23, 2021 Mine have been broken for at least 4 years. I didn’t do anything, I don’t think there’s an issue with leakage. I have not noticed any leaks at all. Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L

Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted June 16, 2021 Moderator+ Posted June 16, 2021 The screws only hold the inner and outer trim rings together. They are not inherent to a watertight seal. The easiest way to get the broken ones out are to remove them all and release the inner ring. The broken screws can be removed with a pair of vice grips. The do not go into a hole in the outer frame, rather a channel that runs around the frame. This will prevent you from having to try to line up all the screws when reinstalling. 1 Steve, Tali and our dog Rocky plus our beloved dogs Storm, Lucy, Maggie and Reacher (all waiting at the Rainbow Bridge) 2008 Legacy Elite I - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #026 | 2014 Legacy Elite II - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #050 | 2022 Silverado High Country 3500HD SRW Diesel 4x4
